Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) said Wednesday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that he was concerned President-elect Donald Trump’s Attorney General nominee Pam Bondi will conduct a campaign of retribution against his political enemies.
Co-host Jonathan Lemire said, “Let’s zero in on the hearing for attorney general nominee Pam Bondi, in particular, much has been made of Donald Trump’s wish for the department of justice to carry out a campaign of retribution against his political foes and the like. What sort of questions do you want to pose to her about that particular topic? How grave of a concern is it?”

Their real fear is that she will do what her predecessors ( Garland & Holder) did.

Durbin, no one is above the law. That includes Democrats. Democrats have prosecuted Republicans regardless of any law.

Retribution or accountability? The difference is that most of the people associated with Trump were innocent of committed only minor infractions and yet were persecuted. The dems have actually done illegal things are deserve to be brought to trial and hopefully be held accountable.
Further, there is a critical reason to do this, besides nailing the crooks. It sets case law for others in government. The problem in the 2020 election, for example, was that a lot of the tricks the dems pulled had no specific law proscribing them. The dems looked for the holes in election law and exploited them. A lot of the efforts of the last 4 years has been to plug those holes. The dems KNEW it and it made a big difference in 2024. If we don't go after the crooked dems, the holes are left open. THAT can be worse than the creeps getting away with it because they are still around to be exploited.

I figured out what Democrats mean by “retribution”.
It means to enforce the law fairly without giving criminal actors on the left a pass and not selectively targeting people in Democrat’s way.
It’s like what they mean with “Democracy”. That means (to them) doing what the Democrats want and keeping democrats in power.

It is not a political act seeking vengeance if crimes were committed by the current DOJ. No, it is seeking justice for any crimes. And there were indeed crimes committed by Garland and his henchmen.

No doubt Durban is scared that Bondi might do what Biden-Harris and their Attorney General have been doing to Trump and the wimpy Republicans!

retribution (from several dictionaries):
something given or exacted in recompense especially : punishment
deserved and severe punishment
requital according to merits or deserts, especially for evil
severe punishment for something seriously wrong that somebody has done
Well, Senator. Has Trump's enemies done things deserving recompense or punishment? Or some evil or something seriously, deserving retaliation? Isn't that what Attorney General is supposed to seek? Well then, expect some retribution.
You seem to think retribution is a fancy word for revenge. Retribution carries the connotation of JUSTIFIABLE recompense and punishment, which implies the perpetrators were NOT justified in THEIR actions. Glad to see you agree that Pres-Elect Trump has been ill-used.
(#1, did Garland & Holder look for retribution or revenge?)

You may have an excellent reason to panic.

Oh Dick, you mean like your team did for 4 long years.
Were there ANY justice on this Earth, you and your whole criminal DC establishment should be flown to the remotest of islands and airdropped with just enough food and water to get you all by for a week. Then let the games begin. Lord of the Flies meets Hunger Games meets Squid Game. Let's see you vultures prey on each other for a while and stop preying on the American people!

Trump's DOJ won't prosecute anyone innocent like Biden did or the now disgraced Fani Willis, They are mainly depressed because of their loss of power and not being able to feed at the taxpayers' trough. Most are overpaid drones that you wouldn't employ to work in your business or anything else.

Accountability for law breaking is not Retribution
DJT has been very clear that 'Success' where failure was the norm will be sufficient for him. And he's got a track record there byw.
Durbin has got to have all sorts of dirt and corruption . That will come out and he'll fli[ on others. Illinois Politics are notorious for corruption

Considering that the Democrats have done everything they could think of to destroy Trump, they are projecting their tactics onto Trump and his incoming administration. Evil people cannot believe that everybody else is not as evil as they are.
