A watchdog investigation into outgoing Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin’s hospitalization in 2024 found that his secretive hospital stay resulted in heightened national security risk, in part because Austin took medication with the potential to impair cognitive function while still in sole command of the Pentagon. The Pentagon’s inspector general interviewed 44 witnesses and reviewed 56 million pieces of data during a year-long investigation into three separate periods when Austin was hospitalized for medical procedures related to prostate cancer and kept the White House and top Defense officials in the dark about what was going on, prompting a political firestorm. TikTok said its services will go dark on Sunday without a guarantee from the Biden administration that it won't punish Apple, Google and other service providers if they support the app.
"Unless the Biden Administration immediately provides a definitive statement to satisfy the most critical service providers assuring non-enforcement, unfortunately TikTok will be forced to go dark on January 19," TikTok said in a statement on Friday. The statement indicates that TikTok's American users base, which the company claims is over 170 million, will not be able to use the service when they open the app or website on Sunday.

The swearing-in ceremony for President-elect Trump's inauguration will be moved inside because of cold temperatures forecast for Washington, D.C., Fox News has learned.

We noted here that CNN and Jake Tapper are on trial in Florida, in a defamation case brought by former serviceman Zachary Young. Young helped people escape from Afghanistan; CNN smeared him as an “illegal profiteer” operating within a “black market.” Apparently it is now conceded that this was false. Young alleges that CNN’s smear destroyed his business.
