The Dem Failure Just Won't Stop: Huge

It all seems as if it’s almost timed to coincide with the return of Donald Trump’s return to power. The failure of progressive leadership has been exposed in a way that it has never been before as disastrous wildfires wipe out entire neighborhoods in deep-blue Los Angeles, a result not only of natural forces like unusually high winds and dry conditions but by the epic breakdown of any real leadership in the Golden State and the misplaced priorities of elected officials like LA Mayor Karen Bass and camera-addicted Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Lithium fires are notoriously difficult to extinguish since they produce their own oxygen....which is a big selling point for EV's. ;-)

Once again - - I have a simple solution which no one else has thought of. Just stretch a huge tarpaulin below the plumes of smoke. Then - - when the lithium comes down - - it will gather in the tarp and it can be poured back into the replacement batteries. No loss of power - - and green energy for everyone! Gee - - I'm so amazing.

I have to admit that I own an EV. It's called a golf cart and I use it to drive around on the private roads in my lake community. That, and on golf courses and some specialized uses, are all they are good for. It also uses plain old lead acid batteries that can be put out if they were to ever catch fire.

Is this another boondogle site, built primarily with govt loans/grants, that buys power cheaply during low usage hours, holds it briefly, then sells it back during peak hours at the higher rates? Much of the hydro power in the PNW is a similar deal, they have an upper and lower reservoir, buy the power to pump water up during off peak, then charge for the electricity generated as it comes back down at peak price rates. There was an operation in NYC that installed a bunch of spinning rotors, got them spinning with off peak power then, generated electricity from them to be sold at peak. In most similar operations it is often power the grid operators neither need nor want , but are required by Law to purchase.(A farmer friend that is also a member of our rural, locally owned, Electric Co-op says such Laws are the equivalent of someone pee-ing in someones spring fed stream and forcing the stream owner to pay for the "Increase")

This is not really a Demzi failure. These batteries serve the same function as water towers. The generators must always run at a minimum level and be ready for increased demand. During the day when solar starts to supplement there is a surplus. This happens during peak demand, so they loose money. It's a great deal for people who installed solar. The power companies are not happy about that any more and are looking for ways to stop loosing money. One way is to store the surplus and use it to take the load off the generators when everybody comes home in the evening and charges their EVs. I heard that some place has installed flywheel batteries. A flywheel on mag-lev bearings in a vacuum can be very efficient. These methods, like a water tower, are to store and release in order to level out the peaks and surges. In electronics we use capacitors. In pumping systems we use pressure tanks.

These things are like putting thousands of car batteries together and have so many cells the odds of one eventually failing are pretty high. Two or 3 in my area have burned in just the last few years.

Lithium battery fires cannot be extinguished, they just have to burn themselves out. Dangerous batteries, and the more you put together, the higher the chance of an inextinguishable fire. Bad idea.

President-elect Donald Trump is preparing to sign over 200 executive orders as soon as he reaches the Oval Office after Inauguration — just as Breitbart News Senior Editor-at-Large Joel B. In The Agenda: What Trump Should Do in His First 100 Days, Pollak suggests over 200 executive orders, actions, and memoranda to launch Trump’s policies and overwhelm Democratic Party attempts at “lawfare” to stop them.In August, he wrote: “I have a new book coming out August 20. President-elect Donald Trump will begin cleaning up the country’s “failed and corrupt political establishment” by taking more than 200 executive actions when he assumes office Monday, aides say. The actions include 50 executive orders, which are legally binding, with some involving border security and domestic energy production, while others are designed to ensure that federal workers are hired based on merit, according to Fox News Digital. Trump plans to start signing the orders immediately after he is inaugurated, said Jason Miller, a senior adviser for the incoming administration. Many of the moves will be part of “omnibus” directives.

No one took it seriously; if a president really tried to change the Constitution via executive order, he would be impeached and driven from office. Personally, I doubt Biden has any idea that he tweeted the supposed adoption of the ERA. I assume that was done by some nameless intern in the White House. Democrats see no problem with the fact that we have a president who has no idea what is going on. Happily, we have only two more days to go.
