New York — Veteran opinion columnist Jennifer Rubin is becoming the latest in a long list of Washington Post figures to leave the troubled institution. Rubin is partnering with former White House ethics czar Norm Eisen and launching something new: a startup publication called The Contrarian. The startup’s tagline, “Not owned by anybody,” is a pointed reference to billionaire Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos and other moguls who, in Rubin’s view, have “bent the knee” to President-elect Donald Trump. “Our goal is to combat, with every fiber of our being, the authoritarian threat that we face,” Rubin told CNN in

At least they're no longer describing Rubin as a conservative.

Like so many other "conservative commentators" who succumbed to a severe case of blinding TDS, her career is circling the drain. There are at least 10 others who have similarly destroyed their careers by smashing themselves against the rocks of "Trump is a dictator" and other insane fantasies that they somehow cannot let go of, regardless of the endless proof to the contrary.

Before venturing into a new business, Ms. Rubin should study the true meaning of authoritarian. Hint: Authoritarianism isn’t on the right.

Will one of her main contributors be that other 'conservative republican' Liz Cheney? I hope I never see an article from the 'Contrarian' on this site, but if one shows up, I'll be sure to pass it!

The "Progressive" Pathology of Projection. Obama-Biden spent 3 terms Sovietizing our once great country. Where was Jennifer's passionate opposition to authoritarianism THEN?

Anybody want to make a bet as to how long it is until this enterprise goes bankrupt? I’ll be generous and give it a year.

I can only wish the WSJ would get rid of Peggy Noonan but the entire WSJ except for a few, are total Anti-Trumpers!

About time. Maybe they want to be the bluesky of publications. Only print what the echo chamber of the left likes to read.

With her every fiber, she should have titled it the Obstructionist. She, and her cohorts should tread lightly, the over the top "with every fiber" kind of shaves off a layer of protection under the absence of malice standard - think ill-will, hatred.

Let's see....who do I think will write for them? Bill Kristol (who drove the Weekly Standard into a ditch), George Will (who no one listens to any more), Rich Lowry who conceived the National Review's anti-Trump issue), Bret Stephens (who left the WSJ for the NY Slimes), Liz Cheney (who self-immolated her career), Adam Kinzinger, David French, David Frum, Jonah Goldberg, the list goes on and on.
The much shorter list is who will pay for this dreck.

The Whitehouse has an ethics department? That is a contradiction in terms if you look at what went on over the past 4 years.

I doubt if she is leaving to "pursue other options". I think the WAPO is cutting the big salaries or firing them outright to stay afloat.

Norm Eisen is an extreme partisan who's been at the forefront of the lawfare against Trump. So, doubtful this new enterprise is anything much more than another venue to "get Trump".
