The decades-old NASA Voyager 1 spacecraft has begun sending readable communications again after months of transmitting gibberish.
Voyager 1 – the most distant human-made object in existence – has been sending back data from interstellar space for nearly 50 years after being launched in 1977.
However, in November a glitch occurred that made the spacecraft's data about its environment and the health of its own systems unintelligible to the NASA scientists monitoring it.
Famous for snapping photos of Jupiter, Saturn and their moons, Voyager 1 then returned readable communications on April 20, confirming it is still safely cruising outer space.

NASA has botched a number of things over the years but the engineering work that went into the design and on going maintenance to keeping the voyager craft running is amazing and truly world class.
I wonder if we could duplicate this if we started from scratch today.

What a magnificent device they built when they made Voyager1. And since devices like this don't "heal", I'd have to guess that the gibberish was caused by some sort of interference and the signals were OK all along.
Perhaps more accurate pointing of the antenna somehow.
These signals are very, very, very weak and noise from other sources can wipe them out.
I suspect that most of the original designers and builders are in their graves, and yet their device keeps on traveling along, the farthest man-made object ever sent out. And still saying "I'm here, and I'm OK."

Re #1, spend a bit of time reading in detail about the last three or four Mars rover missions. They are also extremely capable, amazing designs. Given that the atmosphere of Mars is the density of Earth's atmosphere at about 100,000 ft, not much different than nothing....they even built a helicopter with automatic flight and navigation capability. IIRC they expected to only get five flights from it, and yet, last I heard had made over 60 flights with this fragile, fragile device so many millions of miles away without hope of any repairs.
And the rovers themselves have lasted many years past their expected lives.

I'm thinking that the Big Joke Bidet influence on it is waning, or maybe they got it the same drug Big Joke uses before making an appearance.

I wonder what the bill the aliens sent for repairs?

I have to assume the Aliens from other worlds felt sorry for us and fixed it.

Re #7, not likely.
However, if you remember the plot to Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Voyager gets repaired and returns as super powerful and dangerous V'Ger to Earth 200+ years after it was launched.

Voyager 1 crossed paths with a Klaxxon Confederation invasion fleet with passive advanced jamming tech. The Klaxxons viewed Voyager 1 as primitive tech, ignored it, and continue on to invade the Doanri Empire.

FTA
“It is famous for returning one of the most revered astronomical images of all time – Pale Blue Dot, showing our planet as a spec of dust in the vastness of space. “
Revered?
Never heard of it, however, if the 400 ppm (CO2) crowd were to “revere” that photo, maybe they would realize just how insignificant they are.

Poster 4, I’m sure you recall that Sheila Jackson Lee asked if the Mars Pathfinder Rover sent pictures of the American flag planted on Mars by Neil Armstrong. Jackson Lee is a colossal idiot.

Looking back on earth, Voyager's message was: Oh yeah, I almost forgot about you guys... What a mess you've got going on. See ya, wouldn't want to be ya.

I remember reading an article years ago about NASA's SETI (Search for ExtraTerrestial Intelligence) Program . A reasearcher was asked the question, "How will you know if you receive a signal from an intelligent source?"
The answer, "If the signal shows a non-random pattern."
The article observed the implications of what we observe when we look through an electron microscope at the DNA double helix.
Seems as though we are getting a signal from an Intelligent Source.

There was a meme where aliens sent back their response stating they didn't want to receive any dirty pictures of naked people.
