First Son Hunter Biden struck out in Delaware District Court on Friday as Judge Maryellen Noreika denied his motions to dismiss the criminal gun charges against him. The disappointing (for Hunter) ruling came just two weeks after a California District Court denied his motions to dismiss tax evasion charges against him. While the California case is set for trial on June 20, 2024, the Delaware case currently is set to begin trial on June 3, 2024, with a pre-trial conference now set for May 24, 2024.

BRENHAM, Texas -- Texas Department of Public Safety officials are reporting at least 16 injuries after they say a stolen 18-wheeler crashed into one of their offices on Friday.
According to officials from Texas DPS - Southeast Texas Region, the vehicle intentionally ran into the Brenham DPS Office at about 10:41 a.m. SkyEye video shows extensive damage to the front of the office and 18-wheeler.
Of the more than a dozen people injured, DPS said three were flown to the hospital in critical condition.
The suspected driver of the 18-wheeler was arrested at the scene and refused treatment, officials said. Authorities said there was no further threat to the community.

An unknown motorist drove the stolen 18-wheel vehicle into the official building in Brenham, 75 miles northwest of Houston, at around 11.17am following a police chase.
The Texas DPS said the suspect has been detained and there is 'no further threat' to the community, while police said the truck was stolen. Cops added that the crash was deliberate, though the suspect has not yet been publicly identified.

House Republicans voted along party lines to advance a two-year FISA re-authorization bill after a group of Republicans joined Democrats on Wednesday to vote down a bill to re-authorize FISA for five years and reform the process. Democrats were unified in their opposition, with five Republicans and five Democrats not voting.

We want to be a welcoming city” but doing that without federal help “requires shared sacrifice, it requires compromise. So, we are both making cuts to city budgets to meet this financial need, and we are making cuts to the amount of services we can provide to the migrants that arrive and to the number of folks that we can serve.”

An attorney for conservative leader and private citizen Leonard Leo revealed that Leo would not be complying with a subpoena issued by the Democrat Senate Judiciary Committee.
In a letter addressed to Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL), the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, David B. Rivkin, Jr., the attorney for Leo, co-chairman of the Federalist Society, labeled the subpoena as “unlawful and politically motivated.”
The letter to Durbin comes in response to a subpoena issued to Leo by Durbin on Thursday.“For the reasons previously set forth, Mr. Leo is not complying with the Democrat Senate Judiciary Committee members’ unlawful and politically motivated subpoena,”
Thirty percent of black men and 11 percent of black women intend to vote for former President Donald Trump in 2024, Wall Street Journal polling found Thursday, which is a significant increase from 2020 data.
Losing black support would be a blow to President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign. Only 12 percent of black men voted for Trump in 2020, voting data shows. There is no compatible 2020 polling for black men.
In 2020, six percent of black women said they would vote for Trump, Associated Press polling found, five points less than the Journal‘s 2024 polling.

Speaker Johnson was asked by reporters why he changed his opinion on reforming Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), a controversial surveillance law that is meant to target foreign adversaries, but often surveils Americans’ communications without a warrant. Johnson this week came out against a warrant requirement for Section 702 and moved not to allow an amendment that would have barred intelligence and law enforcement agencies from purchasing Americans’ private information through third-party data brokers.
