Denver Mayor: ‘We Want to Be a Welcoming
City’ for Migrants, That ‘Requires
Shared Sacrifice’

Original Article

During a portion of an interview with CNBC that was recorded in February and aired on Thursday’s “Cities of Success,” Denver Mayor Mike Johnston responded to a question on if the city was too open to migrants and too generous by stating that “it’s a balance. We want to be a welcoming city” but doing that without federal help “requires shared sacrifice, it requires compromise. So, we are both making cuts to city budgets to meet this financial need, and we are making cuts to the amount of services we can provide to the migrants that arrive and to the number of folks that we can serve.”

Mike. If you want to reward those who break our immigration laws - go right ahead. But don't expect everyone else to pay for it. Charity is what YOU do - not what you make others do.

Who wants to be so welcoming? We the people already sacrifice a large portion of our EARNINGS (we had to work hard for our paychecks) in taxes we hand over to our leaders. THEY squander, skim, and misdirect the bulk of it. More money for migrants? They cut the budgets of things We the people need most. Police dept is cut before the arts committee. So how bout YOU sacrifice. Your turn.

Echoing #1, Mike, could you detail (1) the sacrifices you have made, and (2) the sacrifices made by the citizens who have made significant sacrifices? And while you're at it, let's have a list of the beneficiaries of the "Welcoming Machine" you want to build, including all of your family members.

Tonight, as Iran launches attacks on Israel, it is important to remember that exactly one month ago the Biden administration granted new sanctions relief to Iran that gave the country access to billions. The move was criticized by Republicans and downplayed by Democrats and the liberal media. There have been multiple polls in recent months that show Trump leading Joe Biden in the swing states and those polls are making Democrats very nervous, but another new poll has some Democrats much more worried. This poll has to do with voter identification. Democrats have had a strong advantage on this for years but that has changed. The split between Americans who identify as Democrat vs. Republican is now almost perfectly even. Democrats counting illegal immigrants in the U.S. census is “all about power,” Sen. They were trying to fix a problem former President Barack Obama expanded upon, he continued, as the former president took away the question on the census of whether or not a person is an American citizen.
