An environmentalist nonprofit that seeks to cut carbon emissions and promote clean energy is suing to stop the Biden administration from funding a zero-emission power plant. The Department of Energy (DOE) announced in January that it had approved a $1.1 billion credit payment to the Diablo Canyon Power Plant, a nuclear facility on the central California coast, to provide the plant with a path to avoid its planned shutdown in 2025. Though nuclear power plants produce negligible carbon emissions, Friends of the Earth (FOE), a group seeking to reduce carbon emissions, filed a lawsuit Tuesday seeking to block the DOE’s funding,

It's Kalifornia and the plant supplies 9% of its electricity. Shut it down just before air conditioning season.

We are what they want to destroy; power just helps us hang on a little longer. Emissions have zero to do with it. And if the ecofascists cared about the blessed environment, they would take a look at how the invading swarms are trashing the areas near the Southern border.

Guess nuclear fallout is a pollutant now. The nuclear power industry has always been an easy target. The critics only have to point at Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, etc. If that isn't enough, they point at Nagasaki, Hiroshima, and all the nuke tests. I just want to know what the critics think we should use for power and do they realize humanity's power requirements are always increasing. They really are destroyers at heart.

Re #12, putting Three Mile Island into the same sentence with Chernobyl is like comparing a massive heart attack to a stubbed toe. Thirty people died directly in Chernobyl, tens of thousands were exposed to high doses of radiation and may yet die, and in Three Mile Island, zero people died, no people were harmed by radiation release. I happened to be a few miles from TMI when it happened and paid very close attention to it.

The restaurant is located steps from Palisades Tahoe—California's top ski resort—and features a full bar, fine wines including a $5,300 bottle of Burgundy, and high-priced entrees.

I’m a big fan of revealed preference: watch what people do, not what they say. (snip) And here's a truth that some of my progressive readers might find uncomfortable: Americans love Florida. Lots of people are moving there, and relatively few people are leaving. And statistically, it isn’t. (snip) But Florida isn’t like that: it has a high rate of in-migration and a low rate of out-migration:

Michelle Obama has never expressed any interest in running for president and this month her office made clear that was fully behind Joe Biden's run for reelection. Yet the idea that the former first lady could be plotting to parachute in as an alternative to the 81-year-old president and rescue the Democratic Party won't die. Perhaps until now. An exclusive DailyMail.com/J.L. Partners poll shows she would do no better in a hypothetical match-up against Donald Trump than Biden would. Our poll of 1000 likely voters found that she would lose to the former president by three points in a hypothetical match-up.

The Sacramento City Council voted unanimously Tuesday night to declare the California capital a “sanctuary city for transgender people.” The resolution, which takes effect immediately, ensures that no city resources will be used to criminalize trans people seeking transition-related care or to cooperate with jurisdictions seeking to enforce laws that criminalize the care elsewhere.
