The Senate failed to pass a $1.2T government spending package that was approved by the House earlier on Friday, ushering in a partial government shutdown. The upper chamber's Republicans and Democrats did not reach a deal in which they would forego a lengthy period of debate and swiftly take a vote on the spending bills in time to avoid the shutdown. Due to disagreements between the parties on whether to consider several amendments, the bills weren't passed prior to the 12:01 a.m. deadline on Saturday.

Please raise your hand if you wish to never hear the words “continuing resolution” again in this life.

The thugs, thieves and troublemakers won't be affected. They'll shut down libraries and parks.

I'd really like to know what the agenda is when Congress goes into a new session. Does ANYone make it a point take up work on a new budget on the first day? Week? Month? Or is it part of an agreed-to strategy to simply put it off until there's no time left for debate or scrutiny, and let the accompanying media hysteria over a government shutdown ensure easy passage for everyone's pork? This act is really getting tiresome.

I'm fine if they shut the whole thing down. Everyone go home. Things couldn't be much worse as it is.

the whole thing was theatre of the absurd....massive gaslighting and a mega-hoax, imho.
'insisting on 6 days to study,' a 'simple low cost, no pork bill'. yet, they broke all land-speed records to show up
in a matter of hours to pass a peloser 1tonne wonder they didn't read...that's their excuse for gazillions to ukr,
for signing away our God Given Rights to commicrapola like gatesofhell and w.h.o.at our expense -both
financially and spiritually-before stampeding to another vacation. the motion to vacate--wasn't. just a joke.
all this was led by a phony 'conservative christian', selling us to marxist slavers. go to blazes.

Go ahead and shut down. Couldn't be any worse or more useless than it is right now.

If Americans had the same work ethic as our government overlords, the country would grind to a halt within a few days. Add a complete lack of fiscal responsibility to that mix and we would have complete financial collapse. Until there are men and women of integrity in positions of power we will continue to play these stupid games. Are there any adults in Washington or is that corrupt cesspool on the Potomac filled with toddlers having one tantrum after another. It has become a joke. What serves as leadership is a game of who is the biggest bully that can get their way through any means possible. As long as there are weak men and bullies who have no regard for how our tax dollars are spent as long as they get their way, this will be the way going forward. No one in Washington gives a flying fig about the American people. The Government is defiantly hostile to the people who fund it.
The disappointment I feel in Mike Johnson is off the charts. He lied to us and he caved to the democrats actively destroying the country. For that reason alone I would not acquiesce to to anything they want. We are losing the war with these weak fools. While they enjoy the high life, the American people are suffering. To even think about signing onto another monstrosity of a bill is a slap in the face to every hard working American citizen. We are being rolled by both parties while they walk away with the smug satisfaction that they have pulled another fast one on us. I loathe these Republicans who can even think about having a part in the destruction of our country. They steal our vote, our money and send our sons and daughters to die for profit. Mike Johnson, you have betrayed us at the worst possible time and for the worst possible reason. You are no hero. This monstrosity should have been DOA on your desk.

We've seen this song and dance a million times. Non essential government employees get furloughed for a few days. Eventually a CR gets passed and the employees get back pay along with their free vacation. Everyone wins except the taxpayers.

Doesn't every government employee get re-imbursed ? The term "shut down" only effects We the People. Why are we being punished for this mismanagement of our Republic ?

Shut it all down. All essential parts of the govt will continue to operate. Lets all cut the B.S. and shut it all down. Remove all of the pork and return that money back to taxpayers or to the military. And notice 90% of that pork is going to corrupt dems. Shut it down. Our country is on the brink and people still don't get it.

I like this headline for this article especially the "Government partially shuts down" and had to ask myself: who if anyone, actually knew the government partially shut down? ... I didn't, but seeing the incompetence of our federal level leaders such an action would not have surprised me at all, nor did I even care
