The Taliban will soon start stoning women to death in public, the radical group's Supreme Leader announced as he declared war against Western democracy. Addressing Western officials in a voice message broadcast on state TV Saturday, Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada called the Western human rights defenders 'representatives of the devil'. 'You say it's a violation of women's rights when we stone them to death. But we will soon implement the punishment for adultery,' he told the West in his harshest comments since taking over Afghanistan in 2021. We will flog women in public. We will stone them to death in public,'

A new poll indicates a group of Joe Biden's staunchest supporters - black Americans - are not feeling very enthusiastic about voting in 2024, possibly spelling trouble for the president's re-election effort. After losing the first two primaries in 2020, black voters handed Biden his first primary victory in South Carolina. (Snip) A poll released Monday from In Our Own Voice: National Black Women’s Reproductive Justice Agenda with PerryUndem found that just 59 percent of black voters are 'almost certain' to vote this fall and 12 percent 'will probably' vote. The results indicate that around 40 percent of black voters

A Massachusetts city has sued its only hotel for shutting to the public and overloading its rooms with 450 migrants in a $10 million-a-year taxpayer-funded deal with the state. The Republican-led city of Taunton seeks $115,000 from the 155-room Clarion Hotel for housing more migrant families than it can safely hold. The hotel last year reportedly struck a nine-year deal with the Democrat-run state to become an emergency shelter for migrants, who are pouring across the southern border. Taunton residents say this is bad for the city of 60,000 people, which loses out on business because the closest operating hotel

LONDON — Unilever, the company that makes Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, Dove soaps and Vaseline, said Tuesday that it is cutting 7,500 jobs and spinning off its ice cream business to reduce costs and boost profits. London-based Unilever said its ice cream business, which also includes Magnum bars, has “distinct characteristics” from its other brands and would benefit from separate ownership to increase growth. It said the split is expected to be completed by the end of next year. The British consumer goods company with 128,000 employees also said it is launching a “productivity program” that is expected to

The organizers behind an award named Ruth Bader Ginsburg are canceling a ceremony honoring Elon Musk and Rupert Murdoch after facing backlash from the late Supreme Court justice’s family and friends. A transcript of President Joe Biden's interview with the special counsel who investigated his handling of classified information contradicts the president's characterization of an exchange about the death of his son, Beau Biden, from brain cancer. (Snip) But according to an ABC News review of the transcript, it was Biden, not Hur, who first invoked his son's death -- and the president indeed struggled to recall the exact year it occurred. During a line of questioning about Biden's activities after leaving the vice presidency in 2017, a period in which he was writing a book about the loss of his son

WASHINGTON — Marcia Fudge, who has served as the secretary of Housing and Urban Development since March 2021, is leaving the Biden administration, the White House said Monday. "When I took office, we inherited a broken housing system, with fair housing and civil rights protections badly dismantled under the prior administration," President Joe Biden said in a statement. "On Day One, Marcia got to work rebuilding the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and over the past three years she has been a strong voice for expanding efforts to build generational wealth through homeownership and lowering costs and promoting fairness for

CHICAGO — A second case of measles has been reported at a migrant shelter in Chicago, raising concerns about the potential for a larger outbreak due to the high number of unvaccinated asylum-seekers. According to the Chicago Department of Public Health, this is the second case among young children confirmed at a shelter in the city’s Pilsen neighborhood. (Snip) According to the CDC, about 90% of people exposed to the virus and not immune will become infected. LOS ANGELES — U.S. Rep. Katie Porter became a social media celebrity by brandishing a white board at congressional hearings to dissect CEOs and break down complex figures into assaults on corporate greed, a signature image that propelled the Democrat’s U.S. Senate candidacy in California. This time, her numbers didn’t add up. The progressive favorite known for spotlighting her soccer mom, minivan-driving home life was trounced in Tuesday’s primary election to fill the seat once held by the late Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein, finishing far behind Republican Steve Garvey and fellow Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff. Another established Democrat, Rep. Barbara

SAN DIEGO — In his Super Tuesday victory speech, former President Donald Trump elevated false information that had gone viral on social media, claiming the Biden administration secretly flew hundreds of thousands of migrants into the United States. Many post sharing the claim referred to a report by the Center for Immigration Studies, a group that advocates for immigration restrictions. It said the administration refused to list individual airports where people arrived under a Biden “parole” program that allows Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans to stay in the U.S. for two years. Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA) suggested on Wednesday that the California U.S. Senate election had been rigged after she fell 20 points behind Democratic rival Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Republican candidate Steve Garvey. “Thank you to everyone who supported our campaign and voted to shake up the status quo in Washington,” wrote Porter in a series of social media posts after she came third. “Because of you, we had the establishment running scared — withstanding 3 to 1 in TV spending and an onslaught of billionaires spending millions to rig this election.” She continued: It’s clear Californians are hungry for

DAKAR, Senegal -- Gueva Ba tried to reach Europe by boat 11 times from Morocco, failing each attempt. Then, in 2023, the former welder heard about a new route to the United States by flying to Nicaragua and making the rest of the journey illegally by land to Mexico's northern border. (Snip) They are part of a surge in migration to the United States that is extraordinary for its size and scope, with more people from far-flung countries accounting for crossings at the border. And as with this route used by the Senegalese, more are figuring out plans, making payments, and
