First, California came for plastic straws. It did nothing meaningful for the environment, but it made lawmakers feel good — albeit at the expense of consumers.
Now, the state could be coming for “single-use cups” at chain restaurants.
It’ll do nothing for the environment, again, but it’ll make lawmakers feel good, again. Guess what it will do to your wallet, Californians?
According to The Center Square, a conservative publication, Democrat Sen. Catherine Blakespear, who represents a district in the San Diego suburbs, has introduced Senate Bill 1167, which would require chain restaurants to stop using paper or plastic single-use beverage cups.

Reusable cups and mugs would have to be sanitized after each use. Also, ceramic and metal cups tend to be cold when just sitting around - an awful receptacle for hot drinks.

I think styrofoam was the first packaging sin, followed by plastic bags, then plastic straws, now single use cups. It is difficult keeping up with the lefties outrage.

Just give everyone in California an army or camping mess kit (with 1 of each: a glass, a cup, a plate, a bowl, a spoon, fork and butter knife) and tell them that's all they get to use the rest of their life no matter where or what they eat. Going forward give one to new arrivals (new residents moving in or born there). It's their responsibility to keep it and clean it. Except for a few cases (e.g. car accident, house fire, etc.) that's it. That's all they get. If they leave the state or die, they turn it back in for re-use.

Next up - - banning all leather shoes.
You see - - the leather is made from cows - - and cow farts will cause the extinction of all life on the planet - - so no leather shoes means fewer cows - - and all living creatures will be saved!
Let's do it!

Doesn't California already have a water supply issue? So, now they have to use their precious water and energy resources to wash and sanitize the reusable cups. 🙄

If the eco-Nazis were truly concerned about plastics, they would go after hospitals. Everything used in them these days is plastic and all of it is thrown away after one use.

Not only that, but the weather in CA isn't all that good, lots of places are better, and if you live in LA and don't live by the beach, it's alternately boring and terrifying.

So, are you supposed to bring your own or do they dirty a million gallons of water a year washing out glasses, with soap and crud going into the environment?
Idiots do idiotic things, again and again and again. This is why you keep idiots away from an positions of authority.

One ban makes all the others needless: a ban on Bulliots (Bullying Idiots) Prime examples include JF Kerry, Greta Turdbug, Pope Francis the Talking Mule, and of course Joey the Simple.

What about the pee cups for medical samples, are those banned too?
Oh, Well, I guess I'll have to load up on glass containers that they will have to BUY from ME!

I was young once. We used glass bottles for soda. The bottle was returned to the store (5 cents for each bottle retuned). The bottle went back to the soda manufacturer and sterilized. The bottle was refilled, capped and put back onto the shelf. What a concept! Instead of plastic cups, use paper cups. The cups were coated with a waxy stuff on the outside. And no animal was harmed by the cup!

Another thought...these reusable mugs and dinnerware have to be washed with very hot water and detergent. There goes your small carbon footprint all you greenies. God forbid anyone of you jerks ever think things through!

Wait a minute. If they use glasses you have t I wash, that'll cause water shortages during drought years, quite common in Cali. Then what?

I'd say they should facilitate methods whereby customers could bring their own drink containers....
But then the government would ban that due to 'health concerns'.
(I noticed that during the Covidiocy that places that used to allow free or discounted drink refills stopped doing that... I don't know if they allow it again now, because I quit buying convenience store drinks or fast food in general due to cost (and quality going down too) ... (Also due to Covidiocy and 0'Bienomics.)

It wont matter much. Most everyone in California who pays for things has left. All that are left are the thieves, and who cares about them?
What a horrible place.
