Paul McCartney has been reunited with the original Höfner bass guitar he bought in the early 1960s that was stolen in the '70s, the former Beatles member confirmed Wednesday. "Following the launch of last year's Lost Bass project, Paul's 1961 Höfner 500/1 bass guitar, which was stolen in 1972, has been returned," read a brief statement on McCartney's website. "The guitar has been authenticated by Höfner and Paul is incredibly grateful to all those involved." McCartney bought the guitar, a left-handed Höfner 500/1 Violin Bass, in Hamburg, Germany, in 1961. It was his primary instrument

Need to put playing one on my bucket list. I added bass to the list of instruments I play years ago. Easy to migrate to for a regular guitar player. I generally prefer basses with a longer scale though. Glad Sir Paul was reunited with his axe.

The article could have had a few more details about who stole the bass guitar in 1972, but I would imagine that Sir Paul, glad to possess his old instrument again, isn't in a vendetta kind of mood. Did the son of the thief return the purloined bass? Many big rock stars have had instruments filched when they weren't properly protected. And 99.9% of the time, they're gone forever.

I was in my late 'teens when the Beatles created Sgt Peppers. I'll always have a place of wonder for them and those days. Definitely a cool story about the bass.

Jack Casady of The Jefferson Airplane also had his Guld Starfire bass returned to him after it was missing for 47 years. https://onedrive.live.com/view.aspx?resid=98536E2933440E00!111&app=Word&authkey=!AK0R3P3ASjhTiQ4

What is is with all these stolen instruments? Way back when, you never heard tales about Elvis Presley's guitar going missing, or Waylon Jennings being reunited with his stolen guitar after 35 years passed, or Benny Goodman's clarinet being filched. Two possibilities come to mind: either fans were more honest and law-abiding years ago, or the musicians of later years were so stoned that they left their instruments laying around where anyone could grab them.

Long lost" bass? I'd say "long stolen" base is more accurate.

I read a fun story several years back. The pre-eminent cellist of the late 20th century, Yo Yo Ma, on his way in New York from a rehearsal or performance, accidentally left his cello in the trunk of the taxi. Remarkable---astonishingly for now---the driver turned it in, and Ma got it back. It was a Stradivarius cello, worth at the time 4 million dollars!

True, #8. I believe 6-figure rewards are offered for lost or stolen instruments of that nature.

Joe Biden made some remarks on the death of Alexi Navalny on Friday. Biden blamed Russian leader Vladimir Putin for his death, emphasizing, "Putin is responsible." While he made a brief tribute to Navalny, he turned it back to his constant complaint, saying that we had to provide more money to Ukraine because of this. He claimed, as he has in the past, that the "failure to support Ukraine will never be forgotten." Then you could see him squinting and reading off the teleprompter as he attacked former President Donald Trump, but his brain seemed to break in mid-point as he just stopped and looked so old

If you can’t trust Vladimir Putin to vouch for Biden’s mental state, who can you trust? I mean he’s got our best interests at heart and wants us to have the very best leadership possible. Right? Russian President Vladimir Putin said Wednesday Joe Biden would be better for Russia as president than Donald Trump, ahead of a potential rematch between the two in this year’s U.S. election. “[Biden] is a more experienced, predictable person. He is a politician of the old school. But we will work with any leader of the United States, who is trusted by the American people,” Putin said in an interview on broadcaster Rossiya 1 TV when

Given the wholesale disaster that has been the Biden presidency, one has to wonder how it all happened. We have all seen the Democrat party become radicalized, almost purely Marxist, since the Obama administration. Obama promised to transform the country and he surely did. He effectively drove race relations backward by seventy years. It is common knowledge that Obama despised his VP Biden. Why he was chosen to be his VP in the first place is anybody’s guess. Biden was a known jerk, a racist (his mentor was KKK member/aficionado Robert Byrd), rather dumb, a plagiarist, and a pathological liar.

Are the wheels really beginning to come off the Democrat’s chances of keeping the Presidency in 2024, or is it a ruse? It appears they are behind the eight-ball as to having a winning presidential candidate, but are they really? Do Not Be Fooled. For this discussion, I’m leaving out the possibility of voting irregularities and assuming the race will be fair. (I know, I know…) It became apparent three years ago that Biden would not be able to run in 2024 due to age-related issues. It was even doubtful that he would finish his one term. The not-so-funny joke is that his protective ace card in the hole was Kamala Harris,

News out today that Joe Biden will not take a cognitive test at his upcoming annual physical exam. That will surely reassure everyone. A number of observers suggested last week that Biden’s petulant declaration that “My memory is fine” appears set to take its place beside “I am not a crook,” “There is no Soviet domination of Eastern Europe,” and “I did not have sexual relations with that woman” in the annals of regrettable and possibly fatal presidential statements. But there’s one other Watergate parallel that has been less remarked: the non-denial denial. Gerard Baker observes in the Wall Street Journal this morning: "The surest testimony

The Democrats' flying monkeys in the mainstream media have been operating in a truth-free environment for so long that they have no problem telling you that it's your eyes that are lying and not them. Is embattled Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas leaking to Axios now? That's my opinion, but more about that in a minute. Axios reports that Joe Biden's White House was a complete clown show on the matter of the border crisis, with Joe himself blowing up at staff over impossible things, staff oozily doing all they could to cravenly pass the problem onto some other guy, and some of them with decision-making power flamingly ignorant and incompetent. The idiocy worsened the border crisis, Axios argued. The title of their piece is "How Biden Botched the Border." It's an exclusive scoop, and it starts like this: "Aboard Air Force One en route to tour the southern border

After months of fighting, Hamas had been forced to fall back to its stronghold in Rafah on the Egyptian border. And the pressure on Israel not to go into Rafah intensified. Not only AOC and Bernie Sanders, but Biden warned Israel not go in because of the “humanitarian impact”. Israel went in and brought out two hostages. The IDF said it launched several airstrikes in Rafah as a diversion for the rescue operation. The rescue unit breached the building at 1:49 a.m. The force came down from the roof and detonated a bomb to breach a door on the second floor, eliminated the Hamas guards and picked up the two hostages.

Late last week President Biden dispatched administration officials to conciliate offended opponents of Israel’s war on Hamas. They were sent — where else? — to America’s jihad capital (i.e., Dearborn). The delegation included deputy national security adviser Jon Finer and USAID administrator Samantha Power. Their object was to smooth relations with the locals. Readers with a long memory may recall Samantha Power as the author of “A Problem From Hell“ and an Israel hater who served in the Obama administration. Power now serves as the administrator of the United States Agency for International Development. She and her friends are themselves a problem from hell. The New York Times

Donald Trump's cognitive decline is 'more apparent' than Joe Biden's with 'slurred speech and gross, repeated errors' but both are concerning, a professor has warned. Politics professor Paul Quirk from the University of British Columbia assessed both the presidential front runners' cognitive functioning - after a series of gaffes raised questions about their fitness to hold office. He told Newsweek that 77-year-old Trump's cognitive deterioration is more obvious, but Biden's 'cognitive failure' could result in him refusing to relinquish control if needed during his second term.

In laying the foundation for his sweeping decision against former President Donald Trump, Judge Arthur Engoron observed that “this is a venial sin, not a mortal sin.” Yet, at $355 million, one would think that Engoron had found Trump to be the source of Original Sin. The judgment against Trump (and his family and associates) was met with a level of unrestrained celebration by many in New York that bordered on the indecent. Attorney General Letitia James declared not only that Trump would be barred from doing business in New York for three years, but that the damages would come to roughly $460 million once interest was included.
