MSNBC host Joy Reid lamented that black Americans have not received sufficient reparations for “literally, physically” building this country, believing that former President Barack Obama’s eight-year tenure is the best they will get.
Reid issued her comments during an interview on Salon Talks with writer Dean Obeidallah wherein she said that black people “literally, physically, built this country” and therefore deserve much more than a two-term black president.“To be a Black person in 2024 in America is to be in a state of complete perplexed confusion about what is wrong with a country that hates your history, that to this day can’t admit

This is the end result of sixty years of handouts and preferential hiring.
A nation more divided now than in 1861.
A nation of credentialed morons who can't tell right from wrong or even what a woman is.
Thanks LBJ,FDR and the Prince of Lies himself Satan...

Given that every time I turn around and see videos of theft, robbery, assaults, looting, destruction of businesses, all I see is blacks doing the crimes. I guess they're deconstructing what Joy alleges blacks have built.

Joy Reid's father was from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, her mother was from Guyana. Her parents did not build this country, period. No joke.

I have a little limerick for you titled “Not Guilty,” Joy, and it goes like this:
Not Guilty
The debt for what Black slavery built
Was paid in White blood that was spilt
So spare me your chatter
About Black lives matter
‘Cause I don’t have White liberal guilt

I would add to #2's reply that Obama needs some thanks also. He did his fair share, setting race relations back 100 years.

Sigh. Here we have a woman ostensibly educated at one of our finest educational institutions, she has a high profile job and all she does is whine. Good heavens, woman, get a grip! Be thankful you are in the United States. Do you actually think your life would be better in Africa?

Willful and needy ignorance at this level disqualifies Reid from being part of any conversation.
Not so oddly, she's far from being alone with her clownish desperation. Utter fools one and all.

As an allegedly educated person, Joy Reid should know that Blak people did not build this country. Sure, they helped and slave helped in the south in the 1700 & 1800's. However, there were not enough Black people to "build" this country alone. Every race contributed. White people more so by sheer numbers. Give up the false narrative Joy. Yes, slavery helped in the pre Civil War south to some extent, but remember; not everyone had slaves in the south.

I hear this stupid line all the time. Black people did not literally or physically build this country by themselves. No one ever explains exactly how black people built this country. Americans built this country. Slavery wasn't in everywhere and in everything. If joyless is so concerned, she should give up her wealth and that well-paying job she has to several black women. If she can't put up, she should shut up.

We now see what slavery really did for America.
Just think of what a beautiful country we would have if we never allowed slavery.
Our big cities would be safe, our murder rate would be one of the lowest in the world.
Our stores could open without shoplifting. and the abortion rate would be way down.

This must be Ms. Reid's required contribution to Black History Month.
Blacks did not comprise enough of the population to do what she claims.
Everyone worked, because they had to - or go hungry. Unlike today.

Reid is wrong. Blacks did not literally nor physically build this country. This country was built by the industrial north not the agricultural south.

Hip-Hop gangsta' culture rotting our youth. The destruction of our cities. The Obama-initiated decline of America. Corrupt leftist Black Democrat politicians living large off our tax dollars.
Joy, if you want to talk "reparations," you'd better bring your checkbook

The unawareness of everybody else and incuriosity / ignorance of all history that didn't have her in it, is harder and harder to bear. She had zero to do with the states where my forebears lived. Other people. Other people. Other people. Nothing of importance done in these areas by anybody related to Joy. Everything is not you, Joy, Big interesting things happened without you being there at all.

This is a seriously unserious woman. There is no doubt that blacks contributed, both as slaves and as freed men, to the building of our nation. They did not BUILD our nation any more than the Irish or any other ethnic group. She's either stupid, ign9rant or a liar. I vote for all three.

So Joy Reid is already elbowing into the line for "reparations?" She is not a descendant of American slaves. Rather, she is one of many black immigrants who are already free-riding on affirmative action and other programs intended to benefit the descendants of American slaves.
