A powerhouse music rights label is preparing to sever its ties to Roger Waters as a direct result of the legendary British rocker’s inflammatory comments about Israel and Ukraine, sources familiar with the matter told Variety on Tuesday. The Berlin-based BMG, a firm that acts as both a music publisher and record label, first inked a publishing deal with Waters in 2016. But that deal is being scrapped in the wake of Waters’ vocal criticism of Israel, which some—including ex-bandmate David Gilmour—have characterized as antisemitic.

Waiting for intrepid genealogy researchers to discover that "un-Holy Waters" is actually an Ashkenazi Jew.

Agree with the OP. Waters is an anti-Semite and an egotistical moron still coasting on the glory days of the late 70s and 80s. If an original thought entered his head at this stage, it would explode...

The Russo-Ukraine War is so clearly a conflict between democracy and fascism that Rogers's position is incomprehensible.

I'd like to believe that it is true about BMG, it'll take more than just a former rocker's say-so for me to believe that BMG is pro-Israeli.

Without Syd Barrett, Pink Floyd isn't Pink Floyd. Hasn't been since 1968.

Roger "Syd" Barrett headed the earliest lineup of Pink Floyd. (Yes, Syd's given name was Roger!) 1967's album Piper at the Gates of Dawn is considered a classic of the psychedelic era. Unfortunately for Syd, he did literally too many psychedelics, zoned out, turned into a schizophrenic, and had to be replaced by guitarist and singer David Gilmour. Bassist Roger Waters had the ruthless professional ambition, (eventually) the songwriting chops, and the imperious nature necessary to take over the leadership of Pink Floyd.
Losing their leader left the band aimless if not leaderless, and they survived 1968, 1969, 1970, and 1971 playing IMO not such great stuff. Then came 1972's "Echoes" which took a whole side of an album (Meddle), pointing toward Dark Side of the Moon (1973). Of course, the band's four members prospered bigly after 1973--drummer Nick Mason owns one of thirty-six Ferrari GTOs--but Waters started treating bandmates like employees (especially keyboard player and singer Rick Wright).
I always liked the musicianship of PF. Their best material is like a rock soundscape, pleasant if you don't pay too much attention to Waters' nihilistic, socialistic, dystopic weltanschuung. Eventually, the imperious Waters was too much for the other three, and the group dissolved in litigation and unpleasantness. Twenty or so years ago, a solo Waters came to Tampa's Amalie Arena, and was booed by half of the crowd when he went into an anti-Republican rant. Roger just can't help himself. He's a butt, or a portion thereof. He hates Israel and isn't afraid to say so. Consider the source. Concerning sponsors' treatment of Waters as hazmat material ... as Cheech Marin (Pedro) said to Stacey Keach (Sgt. Stedenko) over the station's police radio after urinating on his leg while zipping up his fly, "Bye bye, lard ass."

You must please excuse me. In the reply above I left the seond "a" out of weltanschauung. There's absolutely no good reason for the misspelling error. I hate it when that happens.
And not all of Waters's lyrics were bleakly nihilistic. Some were quite good. But post-1975, most weren't. By the time of The Final Cut, which was outtakes from 1979's The Wall plus some material recorded in 1982, Rick Wright was long gone, and Gilmour and Mason were reduced to session duty, while Waters sang lead on every song. I thought the album amounted to an unpleasant antiwar lecture from a character who had been marinating in self pity for over a decade. Roger Waters, who's a mere rock star, got the big head. Shut up and don't sing.

Growing up, I was a huge Pink Floyd fan (and still am), but I've grown to really dislike Roger Waters. A multi-millionaire who despises the capitalist system who made him rich, his hatred for Israel and Donald Trump really turns me off. Oh, and he fired Rick Wright during the recording of The Wall (in retrospect, a poor album with too much filler). His political views also torpedoed some deals involving the band's catalog, which means. he's still screwing Gilmour & Mason. Set the controls for the sphincter in your @ss, Roger.
