Amazon was slapped with a $35 million fine Tuesday after regulators in France determined that the e-commerce giant has an “excessively intrusive system” for keeping tabs on its warehouse workers. The French Data Protection Authority, or CNIL, called out the company’s branch in the country, Amazon France Logistique, for requiring employees to use a barcode scanner to track their progress on tasks – such as storing items on shelves or packing them up for shipment.

A neighbor's son worked at an Amazon warehouse while he waited to get a security clearance for a Federal job. He told me that he got written up for performing the assigned steps in the wrong order. He'd done them all, but in the wrong order, so they counseled him and wrote him up. He gladly quit a few weeks later when his other job came through.

What, they thought Alexa only watched Americans? But seriously, a good inventory system tracks every movement of a product so Amazon can give you those "feel good" status reports that tell customers how much is in stock and where there order is in the shipping process. Not unusual at all.

Now retired, but I have seen the corporate-speak evolve through the years. They're not "people" they are "resources". Some emails from the high level executives are almost unintelligible. The newest term - "water spiders". My company refers to people as insects. These are employees who used to be known as material handlers, or similar. They keep work stations and presses stocked with necessary supplies to keep production flowing. What's next? Maybe the CEO will dub himself "Lion King"...

Evidence has been shown to the Biden administration and the United Nations that 12 members of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) were actual participants in the October 7th Hamas terrorist attacks against Israel. Yes, you read that correctly. The U.N. was an actual participant in the premeditated slaughter of Israeli citizens. (Via Axios) The State Department on Friday said it is pausing additional funding for the UN Palestinian refugee agency after Israel alleged 12 UNRWA employees were involved in the Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attack.

In a noteworthy development, for the first time, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has issued a warning, signaling that Iran now holds a sufficient quantity of highly enriched uranium capable of producing multiple nuclear warheads. The regime has been actively supporting Hamas against Israel, providing assistance to Yemen's Houthi terror group to attack ships in the Red Sea, escalating tensions with Pakistan, and providing weaponry to Russia for use against Ukraine. These multifaceted engagements in regional and global conflicts indicate the regime's likely view of nuclear weapons as a means to further its strategic objectives.

Chuck Schumer’s push to more strongly regulate Zyn nicotine pouches he says are being pushed to teens has lit a smokeless fire among some conservative lawmakers. “I'm delivering a warning to parents, because these nicotine pouches seem to lock their sights on young kids, teenagers and even lower. And then use the social media to hook them,” the Senate majority leader said at a press conference this week urging the FDA and FTC to probe the product. Conservatives seized on his comments. “It’ll make a lot of people mad. He wants to do that and cut out menthol cigarettes. I don't think we need to do that," said Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.),

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg always reminds me of former ODNI James Clapper. Both men, a little ordinary, had a tendency to say the obvious non-political ordinary thing accidentally, and that would seemingly frustrate the political narrative engineers. Stoltenberg did it again recently when he was questioned about the horrific and horrible likelihood that terrible Russia would expand their military conflict beyond Ukraine. Surely, given the intensity of the common western narrative, this Russian expansion was only a matter of timing. Nope….

The biggest threat to the Constitution in 2024 is the “lawfare” being waged against Donald Trump — and the Supreme Court is as much its target as Trump is. Consider attempts in Colorado, Maine and elsewhere to ban Trump from the ballot. The architects of these efforts are counting on most Americans not knowing how presidential primaries and general elections actually work. What happens if a blue-state supreme court or Democratic secretary of state rules that Trump isn’t eligible to be president? If the question stayed at the state level, very little would change. This is because voters don’t directly pick either a party’s nominee or a president.

Hunter Biden and his lawyers are still playing games about whether he will deign to comply with a congressional subpoena. You would wish that Republicans were as ruthless about enforcing the rules as Democrats, but when faced with a 53-year-old man as entitled and spoiled as the president’s son, they are in new territory. The contrast with the Trump family could not be more stark. Unlike Hunter, who defied a House Oversight Committee subpoena to stage a press conference on Capitol Hill and later gate-crash a hearing, Don Trump Jr. testified five times for more than 40 hours to Democrat-led congressional committees without pulling any stupid stunts.

Conservative Supreme Court justices on Wednesday voiced support for weakening the power of federal regulators, but it was not clear whether a majority would overturn a precedent that has guided American law for four decades over everything from the safety of food and drugs to environmental protection. Billions of dollars are potentially at stake in front of a court that, like the rest of the federal judiciary, was remade during Donald Trump’s presidency by conservative interests that were motivated as much by weakening the regulatory state as social issues including abortion.

Another jury last May found Trump liable for sexual abuse and ordered him to pay $5 million. This defamation trial was over things Trump said about Carroll while he was president. However, the poll also contained generalized questions about the performance of local politicians. Voters were asked “how you feel each of the following is performing” in response to a list of names that included “Brandon Johnson as Chicago Mayor,” according to poll results obtained by the Chicago Sun-Times. The Biden Administration has dealt a devastating blow to America by opening up the southern border to all comers. The influx of illegals threatens our national security and our economy, and it has placed an intolerable burden on the border states. How intolerable, is demonstrated by the panic that seizes blue cities when they are faced with a tiny fraction of the burden suffered by communities near the open border. Joe Biden’s border policy is unconstitutional. Under Article II, his most fundamental duty as president is to “take care that the laws be faithfully executed.” Biden has not faithfully executed our immigration laws; rather, he has deliberately sabotaged and negated them.
