President Biden needs a big boost to win in 2024; the economy won’t be it. Despite the stock market’s recent euphoria over coming Federal Reserve rate cuts, this will not have the political impact many may imagine. Even if these cuts come, there simply will not be time to undo the damage that Biden has already incurred with America’s economy.
Biden is in deep political trouble. He is in trouble generally, as the Real Clear Politics national polling averages show. His job approval is just 40.5 percent (versus 55.9 percent disapproval), he trails Trump 44.5 percent to 46.8 percent in head-to-head polls and his favorability is lowest of all

We should remember the now modern proverb of Nixon-era economic advisor Herb Stein to the effect that what cannot go on (without destroying the nation), simply will not go on.
In some sense, the country for recent years has been cruising on the fumes from prior and likely better wiser generations and institutions. In 2024, the tab for our current apathy, toxic politics, and incompetence will come due. So next year we will likely see the climax to a number of current dangerous ideas, events, and forces, which finally will either overwhelm us or be addressed and remedied. We live in a Neronian age but can recover if we first understand

Successful public health campaigns and medical advances have enabled the United States to conquer a range of disfiguring and damaging diseases. Polio, which paralyzed thousands of Americans annually, was wiped out by widespread vaccinations. In 1999 the nation’s last hospital for lepers closed its doors in Louisiana. A global campaign eradicated smallpox, while lethal tuberculosis, the “consumption” that stalked characters in decades of literature, seemed beaten by antibiotics. Measles outbreaks still occur from time to time, but they are small, local, and easily contained. Recently, however, some of these forgotten but still formidable infectious diseases have begun to reappear in the U.S.

"I have decided that I will no longer be a candidate for president in the 2024 election." Most Democrats and the vast majority of voters overall hope that Joe Biden will utter those words sometime before the party’s national convention, which convenes in Chicago next August.
It could happen. More importantly, it should happen. Polls show that Biden is deeply unpopular. Beyond serious concerns about his advanced age and diminished mental acuity, his job performance on every major policy issue that Americans care about is a dismal report card of inept management or misjudgment.

Upon leaving the White House on Saturday before spending his Christmas at Camp David, Biden was asked by a reporter about his "outlook" of the economy going into 2024.
"All good. Take a look," Biden responded.
"Start reporting it the right way," he added with a smirk. Biden has repeatedly been critical of the press, which he accuses of focusing more on negative news than positive things that come from his administration.
But his approval among Americans continues reaching historic lows and his handling of the economy is a heavy factor in his unpopularity.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., faced blowback for her social media post that tried to liken Jesus to the Palestinian people and criticize Israel but made no mention of Hamas or their hostages. "In the story of Christmas, Christ was born in modern-day Palestine under the threat of a government engaged in a massacre of innocents," Ocasio-Cortez wrote, referencing Jews who lived in the land over 2,000 years ago under Roman control. "He was part of a targeted population being indiscriminately killed to protect an unjust leader’s power."
"Thousands of years later, right-wing forces are violently occupying Bethlehem as similar stories unfold for today’s Palestinians

The race between Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley to secure a clear and commanding second place to Donald Trump is starting to feel like an old Law and Order episode.
You know the ones.
Where two guys who committed a crime are separated and the first one to flip gets the better plea deal?
As it stands, DeSantis and Haley could both choose to be the first to drop out and endorse Trump, thus ensuring the other is set up for a grueling one on one with the surging former president that looks to be a very uphill climb.

Gen Z voters are growing increasingly concerned about President Biden's mental fitness and "retiree" lifestyle as his approval rating slips to an all-time low in a national poll ahead of the 2024 election. "I don't mean to rag on the president of the United States, but honestly, he's acting like a retiree," Kale Ogunbor, a Republican Gen Z voter, told "Fox & Friends First" Wednesday. "It's been reported that over 40% of Joe Biden's presidency has been spent on vacation. And I think a lot of Americans, including Gen Z, don't want a president who seems more like he's retired the next four years after 2024."

The decision this week by the Colorado Supreme Court (by a 4-3 vote) to remove Donald Trump from the state’s ballot is a decided loss for democracy, arguably a worse loss for Democrats, and ultimately a win for Donald Trump — for several reasons.
First and foremost, and most obviously, in the Republican primary, Trump’s argument has been that democracy has been undermined by the various investigations that he has faced and is currently facing. Now, before any of the major Trump cases — including the one related to his actions on Jan. 6, 2021, which was the reason Colorado ruled he was ineligible for the ballot — have concluded

Ever since Hunter Biden was captured in a recording calling his client, Patrick Ho, “the f—ing spy chief of China,” questions have swirled around the Chinese official who headed a U.S.-based think-tank that worked to advance the interests of CEFC China Energy and its now-vanished founder, Ye Jianming.
Court records from Ho’s case reviewed by Just the News show the FBI and Justice Department gathered evidence under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) from around the time when Hunter Biden and his uncle James were dealing with CEFC officials, including Ho.
Joe Biden also met twice with CEFC officials: once as vice president and once as a private citizen

Former President Barack Obama went to bat for Harvard President Claudine Gay amid backlash she received following her testimony on antisemitism before Congress. A confidential source familiar with the matter told Jewish Insider on Tuesday that Obama, a Harvard graduate, had privately lobbied on Gay's behalf following her congressional appearance about antisemitism and threats against Jewish students on the Ivy League campus. "It sounded like people were being asked to close ranks to keep the broader administration stable—including its composition," the source said of Obama's involvement.

As the House of Representatives goes into high gear in its impeachment proceedings (and possible contempt resolution against Hunter Biden), the Biden family legal problems continue to mount. In one week, it was revealed that President Biden’s brother James was caught on an FBI audiotape in a corruption investigation, while Ashley Biden, the president’s daughter, is now also facing demands for unpaid taxes.
James Biden is expected to appear before the House for questioning in the coming weeks. The appearance may solidify a new line of defense for the Bidens: that they are harmless grifters.
