President Joe Biden’s administration will reportedly loosen laws regulating cannabis (marijuana), which some advocates say amounts to only a symbolic gesture that will ultimately change nothing. The president will reportedly move cannabis from the maximally restrictive Schedule I to the minimally restrictive Schedule III of the Controlled Substance Act (CSA), according to the Guardian. “That would lessen the tax burden on businesses selling the drug in states where it is legal and potentially change how police agencies view enforcement of marijuana laws,” noted the outlet.
