Former Chicago Alderman Ed Burke, one of the most powerful and longest-serving politicians in the Windy City, was found guilty Thursday of racketeering, bribery and attempted extortion after a six-week-long federal corruption trial. The 79-year-old Democrat was convicted on 13 of the 14 charges leveled against him in a 2019 federal indictment accusing the veteran Chicago City Council member of using his position to steer business from private developers to his law firm. Prosecutors also alleged that Burke threatened to block a measure raising admission fees at Chicago’s famed Field Museum over its failure to grant an internship to the daughter of a former alderman, whom he had recommended.

I do wonder why the dims would allow one of their own to be charged. Just no one of sufficient power who cared enough to protect him? Or he had enemies in the justice system?

This is the tip of the iceberg, not just in Chicago, but nationwide. If you thought prisons were already overflowing, construction of new ones would never end if all the crooked demonrats and rinos actually faced consequences for their actions. Of course, all the corruptocrats have prison/work camps planned for anyone who is against them.

You occasionally have to make an example of someone. Especially in an election year. Like in the 1974 move "The Front Page" (also set in Chicago), when visiting the city jail, the Mayor wondered why all the women from a local whorehouse were locked up. The sheriff said, "Well, we always knock over one of the houses in an election year!" And all the girls were greeting the Mayor since they ALL seemed to know him.

Notice he's a former Alderman (they run their district like their own fiefdom, and nothing happens in their district without them knowing about it either), so his usefulness had expired. The corruption is known and tolerated so long as enough people are in on the schemes to continue electing them. It's the poor chumps who don't have a City job or a City contract who are the suckers for continually voting for them.

Insiders tell us that the former governor — who has been quietly polling on his chances of being elected mayor of New York City in the event the troubled Eric Adams craps out — is “leaning towards” a run at City Hall. Adams is not only facing historically low approval ratings, but his office is also under investigation for its ties to the Turkish government. Now we hear Cuomo — who himself resigned in 2021, after a string of sexual harassment allegations against him (which he has consistently denied) — is ready to run should the opportunity present itself.
