Report: Harvard President Claudine Gay
Plagiarized Portions of Her Ph.D. Dissertation

After the past week's Congressional hearings, the presidents of Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the University of Pennsylvania are being exposed to an amount of publicity and scrutiny they're not used to and likely wish would go away. As we reported, the trio claimed that calls for genocide against Jews needed to be placed into context before deciding whether they violated student codes of conduct. The backlash was swift, and so was the backpedaling. UPenn's Liz Magill wasn't able to keep her job, though, and Harvard's Claudine Gay might not be far behind. Gay has already had a rough tenure, as investigative journalist Chris Rufo writes:

It's OK. She's black. We have no requirement that she actually do the research and come up with a meaningful dissertation all on her own.

D'ya think they didn't know this when she interviewed for the job earlier this summer? There are software programs these days that they run dissertations through that detects plagiarism before the defense before the committee is even begun.

Maybe she did, maybe she didn't. Plagiarism has become such a nebulous thing. Especially when you find it using a search engine that looks for common words or patterns. As a retired academic I'd out these charges, unless she actually copied significant amounts of others work, in the same category as some woman (or man) stepping forward and saying, "40 years ago Mr.(or Mrs) X sexually harassed me! I have no proof but why would I lie?" People in the same fields tend to read each other, and use the same vocabulary. It follows their sentence structure would be similar.

Blacks get a pass on this stuff. They are too often pushed far beyond what they are actually capable of by affirmative action...so they wind up faking it, probably out of desperation.

She didn't use similar text, she copied the exact text and did not cite sources for some of it. Why do blacks feel the need to use the conflict between blacks and whites as their topic of dissertation? It's like racism is always at the top of their minds. Michelle Obama did the same thing but her thesis was written poorly. This is what Affirmative Action in education gets you, a document that reflects the level of your intelligence all too well.

No surprise here and most of us who have followed the travesty of affirmative action over the years also see the parallel trend with the "dumbing down" of America where admission test scores aren't used and the only thing that counts has to fit the WOKE agenda. Plagarism or outright fantasy has hit the halls of academia with studies that bolster the racist narrative that they are always oppressed.

Having written more than my share of research papers, I agree with #4. You have to be very, very careful when using someone else’s material. It’s exhausting. But, if you follow the rules, put someone else’s words in quotes and cite your sources, you should be ok. The funny thing is that universities have really cracked down on plagiarism in the last couple of decades. I can only guess why hers was allowed to stand.

Harvard was once a reputable institution. Now, though, it’s a joke, and, moving forward, any parent who pays for it or young person who goes into debt for it has inadvertently taken an IQ test and proved to be only in the double digits. The latest example of Harvard’s fall, not just from grace but from decency, is the fact that two days after its president, Claudine Gay, insisted that its devotion to free speech was so absolute that even genocidal rhetoric deserved its day, Harvard canceled a Democrat congressman who had spoken slightingly of Gay’s remarks. I’m sure you’re familiar by now with what Gay said.

President Joe Biden warned Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday that Israel might lose international support over its post-war plans for Gaza. At a Democratic fundraiser in Washington, D.C., Biden called the current Israeli government the “most conservative government in Israel’s history” and added that Netanyahu “doesn’t want a two-state solution,” which Biden said needs to change. “Israel’s security can rest on the United States, but right now it has more than the United States. It has the European Union, it has Europe, it has most of the world. . . . But they’re starting to lose that support by indiscriminate bombing that takes place,” Biden said.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pushed back at United States plans to place a reformed Palestinian Authority in Gaza once Israel’s military campaign to oust Gaza is finished. "Gaza will be neither Hamastan nor Fatahstan,” he said on Tuesday. Netanyahu spoke as United States President Joe Biden has faced increased pressure to pressure Israel to halt the Gaza war, sparked by Hamas’ infiltration of southern Israel and the killing of over 1,200 people and seizure of some 250 hostages. The US has backed Israel’s military campaign, sending military and financial assistance. Republicans are seizing on the dissatisfaction to skewer Biden, while the White House is finding less success as it tries to highlight economic progress.
