Israel-Hamas war: The US vetoing the Gaza
ceasefire is a defining moment for the UN

Original Article

Before the draft resolution hit paper, the writing was on the wall. The US, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, was always going to veto any move for a ceasefire and they all knew it as a matter of fact. For some, it was a matter of regret. On his way into the chamber, France's ambassador to the UN, Nicolas de Riviere, put it this way: "A resolution failing because of veto is a failure of the UN Security Council." Mr de Riviere wanted more time to negotiate towards an agreement and spoke of the danger of driving "the Security Council car against the wall".

I was shocked! I find it difficult to process giving money to Iran to fuel the war for Hamas, while giving Israel support at the UN. The only thing that is consistent is Biden's desire to get the US into WWIII, one way or another.

i am not shocked - that is what governments do - fund both sides of everything - another example: us subsidizes tobacco growing but also funds anti smoking campaigns. the issues don't matter as long as they get their hands on more money. also this frenchman wants more time for an agreement? to do what - is he saying there was some loophole in prior agreements that didn't prhibit what hamas did on 10/7?

Every single resolution on the Middle East over the last seventy five years has deliberately refused to recognize basic facts and has been passed in face of reality. And therefore met the same fate. Golda Meir put is best - The Arabs wish us dead and we wish to live, what is there to negotiate?

Here's what the results of successful ceasefire would be: 1) Every single hostage immediately returned 2) Every single member of Hamas from street thugs to Qatar billionaires is dead Anything less is a failed "negotiation".

fta: "Hamas has no desire to see it and a ceasefire would only plant the seeds of the next war." Your tax dollars are being used to pay both sides of this conflict. Over the last 50 years or more, political pressure has been applied to Israel to do this or that to find some way to bring Peace to the situation, treating Israel as some sort of puppet on a string. Do this! Do that! and supposedly Nirvana will come!!! President Carter worked on it, and then Anwar Sadat was killed. For many years, Yassir Arafat was wined and dined and got rich off of corruption ans still no Peace. GIVE UP LAND and all will be well-- still more of the same. Time continues to pass and the conflict NEVER gets resolved all because of something starting thousands of years ago when Sarah who was barren tried to help God out by tricking Abraham into having a FIRST-BORN male child with her handmaiden Hagar (Genesis 16) and an Arab child, Ismael was born. Sarah later bore a son Isaac who was a Jew and received God's blessing instead. The rivalry continues to this day with no end in sight. The 'Palestinians" is a term coined in the 20th Century while the Jews "promised land" was given to them thousands of years ago. The shocking and savage attacks in October caused this-- HAMAS caused this, not the vast majority of people. Its hard to believe that the Americans in the NoBama/Vegetable administration didn't FORCE the opposite result- There will be NO PEACE until the Prince of Peace comes again.

Agree with #4: the Israeli's will never give up their country, because for them, that means their annihilation. Since time began, a fight between two belligerents is most often won by the side with the most to lose. Either Israel or Hamas has got to go, and it won't be the Israelis.

Move the UN HQ to Bangladesh. This is a prefect example of why the US must stay on the Security Council, but should also stop giving the UN ANY money whatsoever. We have to remain on the Security Council to protect ourselves and our allies from these idiots and petty tyrants, but we shouldn't fund it or let the HQ remain in the USA.

Not "against the wall" but over a cliff. The UN's days are numbered and the next smart POTUS will shut this leftist debating society down. Third world potentates can find money for their suits, limos and prostitutes elsewhere. The only benefit seen by America out of this bunch of hustlers is tourism dollars for New York City.

Former President Donald Trump has expanded his lead over his GOP rivals with five weeks until the first Republican presidential nominating contest, now earning 51% first-choice support from likely Iowa caucusgoers, according to the latest NBC News/Des Moines Register/Mediacom poll. Trump’s lead — the largest recorded so close to a competitive Republican caucus in this Iowa poll’s history — is fueled by majorities of evangelical and first-time likely caucusgoers, as well as by nearly three-quarters of Republicans who believe Trump can defeat President Joe Biden next year despite the legal challenges the former president faces.

In the fourth, and hopefully final GOP debate, Vivek Ramaswamy created an uproar when he stated that “the Great Replacement Theory is not some grand right-wing conspiracy theory, but a basic statement of a Democratic Party’s platform.” He stated the truth, as Democrats have touted this premise for the past handful of years, from Joe Biden to Chuck Schumer and more. Politico concluded in 2013 that “amnesty for millions of illegal aliens would be an electoral bonanza for Democrats and cripple Republican prospects in many states they now win easily.” Van Jones threw a hissy fit in providing his, ahem, (mischaracterization) of Ramaswamy’s comments following the debate

The audit claimed Disney gave complimentary annual passes and steep discounts to the public employees, calling the perks “akin to bribes.” A review of campaign finance records shows that some of Disney’s scrutinized perks have also long been enjoyed by Florida’s top politicians, even including DeSantis,

Finally, almost two months later, CTH suspicions are confirmed {GO DEEP}. You might remember when the USS Carney intercepted 15 drones and cruise missiles in the Red Sea in October, we said something was sketchy about the Western media reporting on it. The political narrative (not from the Pentagon) was that the missiles were heading to Israel, but that didn’t pass the proverbial sniff test {GO DEEP ##2}. Given the nature of the political climate at the time, and accepting the limited range of Yemeni cruise missiles, CTH surmised the actual target of the October 19th attack was the U.S. naval fleet, not Israel.

The Supreme Court is hearing arguments over a nationwide settlement with OxyContin maker Purdue Pharma that would shield members of the Sackler family who own the company from civil lawsuits over the toll of opioids. The agreement hammered out with state and local governments and victims would provide billions of dollars to combat the opioid epidemic. The Sacklers would contribute up to $6 billion and give up ownership, and the company would emerge from bankruptcy as a different entity, with its profits used for treatment and prevention. But the justices put the settlement on hold during the summer, in response to objections from the Biden administration. Arguments take place Monday.

After the past week's Congressional hearings, the presidents of Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the University of Pennsylvania are being exposed to an amount of publicity and scrutiny they're not used to and likely wish would go away. As we reported, the trio claimed that calls for genocide against Jews needed to be placed into context before deciding whether they violated student codes of conduct. The backlash was swift, and so was the backpedaling. UPenn's Liz Magill wasn't able to keep her job, though, and Harvard's Claudine Gay might not be far behind. Gay has already had a rough tenure, as investigative journalist Chris Rufo writes:

The Biden administration made two virtue-signaling proclamations at last week’s COP28 conference in Dubai it says will help save the planet from climate change. The policies aren’t likely to change the planet’s temperature by even one-tenth of a degree, but they might just destroy the 21st-century American industrial economy as we know it. First, Team Biden announced it will stop production of all new coal plants in the United States. This comes on the heels of President Biden’s Environmental Protection Agency saying this year it would impose new power-plant emission regulations that are virtually impossible for coal plants to comply with. The bottom line: no more coal. Period.

Kate Cox, 31, sought an abortion after her foetus was diagnosed with trisomy 18, a potentially fatal condition that doctors said threatened her fertility. A lower court granted permission for an abortion, but the Texas Supreme Court put that decision on hold on Friday. Texas has one of the strictest abortion bans in the country. Abortions in the state are prohibited from the point of conception except in rare cases where the life of the expectant mother is under threat.
