He Called the Pope a ‘Filthy Leftist.’

Javier Milei, a far-right libertarian leading the polls in Argentina’s presidential election this month, has made a lot of contentious statements in recent years: Humans did not cause climate change; people should be able to sell their organs; his nation’s currency “is not even good as manure.” But, to many Argentines, he has done something far worse: attacked the pope. In 2020, Mr. Milei, a self-identifying Catholic, called Pope Francis an “imbecile” and “the representative of the Evil One on earth” because he defends “social justice.”

Comments:

Argy on Argy violence. Someone needed to say it. The Times reports this like it's a bad thing. The pearl clutching is amazing.

I am a Catholic and will be one till I die. I will pray for Pope Francis but I find I disagree with him quite a bit. The Catholic church has always supported social justice, but not the way Francis does. He should look to the good examples of Mother Cabrini, Frederic Ozanam and Rosalie Rendu to see social justice done right. Our local Saint Vincent de Paul Society isn't out to march with clenched fists. The members collect food and clothing for people in need and also assist them with utility bills. That's social justice.

I am not Catholic but I have a good Catholic friend who feels this Pope borders on the anti Christ. Just as no one is promised tomorrow no one is promised a good life. That does not mean we shouldn't care about others or offer help and a hand up. But a doctor, and a teacher, and a street cleaner or someone who chooses not to work do not deserve the same things out of life.

This Pope's "true religion" is something to the left of Socialism. The fact that the New York Times is, "Shocked, shocked I tell you!", about this candidate tells me that he must be worthy of the Argentinian vote. I don't think anyone could ever accuse the NYT of giving a crap about the "sanctity" of the Roman Catholic Church, or the infallibility of the Pope.

#12 - So glad. Welcome back to the Banquet, sister! Francis is temorary, the Eucharist is Eternal. The good people of the world are uniting and supporting leaders with vision like Javier Milei, Orban in Hungary and the conservative coalition in Poland. Not to mention the MAGA movement propelling Donald Trump to his next term as President. The forces of good and evil are drawing their lines in the sand across the world in ways not seen since prior to WWII. The wild card this go-around is the free flow of information; every citizen is a potential eye-witness reporter. I firmly believe we are truly engaged in spiritual warfare first and foremost. No matter one's religious beliefs, it is the time to deepen prayer life and worship. Bad and evil times are upon us, and only by supernatural assistance will we be able to overcome the obstacles our enemies have planned. In God We Trust.

Shakespeare would have had no use for President Joe Biden. If given the opportunity to dramatize his story, the Bard of Avon undoubtedly would have passed. His historical plays and tragedies were certainly partial to political leaders, and Biden has things in common with some of his most famous leading characters -- like Macbeth, he has political ambitions and a helpful spouse, and like King Lear, he has diminished abilities and problematic offspring -- but Shakespeare’s major characters were all deep and complex, prone to wander castle or moor emoting about an inner turmoil or bitter fate. Many Democrats, pointedly its ‘progressive’ left wing, enjoy thinking of themselves as ‘people-person’ trailblazers. This collective and persistent fiction chiefly works because their ‘novel’ efforts cancel out quietly or die in silence, as failures. The brilliant, new ‘initiative’ du jour becomes unworkable—either upon execution or, worse, is frankly untenable for America--eventually. The progressive voice is the loudest and most constant while the majority are barely heard. This progressive public bullying is a problem now owned, if not altogether liked, by the Democrat party; it is rooted in the stupidities of our failed education.

Does the Washington Post have any credibility at all? They censored this cartoon below after a few critics absurdly howled 'racism' -- all for depicting a Hamas spokesman accurately, and creating a thoughtful message that Hamas's howls about civilian attacks are disingenuous, given Hamas's war on Israeli civilians, including the 200-some hostages they hold. upposedly, they complained about the nose, expropriating from the complaints of caricatures directed against Jews done by anti-Semites. Yeah, sure. Did they want a little turned-up button nose on him? And is Ramirez supposed to depict a terrorist spokesman holding hostages flatteringly?
