New York Gov. Kathy Hochul’s regulators are on the verge of settling a discrimination lawsuit alleging that the state favored convicted pot felons over disabled veterans in the awarding of licenses to sell legal marijuana. The move would accelerate the opening of hundreds of cannabis stores left in limbo by the Empire State’s legal weed war. The details of the proposed agreement weren’t made public, but the state Cannabis Control Board has called for an emergency meeting on Monday to approve the settlement in the case brought by disabled vets Carmine Fiore, William Norgard, Steve Mejia and Dominic Spaccio.

Good luck to anyone living near a pot growinf facility. That stuff really stinks I mean it on some days it makes my nose sore. It should be grown somewhere that no one lives within 5 miles.

With Geert Wilders winning in the Netherlands,

For Israel, it had to be good news to learn that Geert Wilders, the supposedly wild and crazy Dutch version of Donald Trump, came in with a huge parliamentary victory in the Netherlands and now may become the country's next prime minister. That's because Wilders is a ferocious advocate and ally for Israel. It matches the result from another Trump-like leader who just got elected -- that of Javier Milei, now president of Argentina ... and another very vocal ally for Israel. At one of this last campaign rallies, he was videoed waving the Israeli flag, vowing to make Argentina Israel's best friend.

Like Longfellow’s little girl, who had a little curl right in the middle of her forehead, sometimes ad agencies are very good indeed, and sometimes they’re horrid. When they’re good, it’s worth taking note because, as with all media, those short videos have a disproportionate effect on the American psyche. In the case of Chevy’s holiday ad, that effect can only be good. When I grew up in the 1960s and 1970s, in the pre-streaming age, you watched ads whether or not you wanted to. These years were the heydays of jingles and slogans. Indeed, for us, jingles were a family tradition.
The Iranian Regime's Must be Held Accountable 4 replies

The appeals trial of a former Iranian regime prison official implicated in the 1988 massacre of political prisoners recently unfolded in Sweden as a consequential chapter in the ongoing struggle for accountability. The proceedings not only laid bare the gruesome events of that dark period but also underscored the protracted conflict between the main Iranian opposition and the Iranian regime. Kenneth Lewis, serving as the attorney for multiple plaintiffs in the trial, argued that the clash between the opposition and the Iranian regime should not be classified as an international armed conflict as claimed by the Iranian regime and its proponents.

Lachlan Murdoch has been chairman of News Corporation and Fox Corporation, the parent company of Fox News, for more than a week now after his father Rupert finally officially handed the reins to him. Beyond the titular changes, how much of a transition is in fact being made is open to question. “I hope to continue an active role in the company,” the elder Murdoch, 92, remarked during the company’s most recent annual shareholders meeting. Lachlan Murdoch told investors that there will be “no change” in strategy at Fox News, but earlier this week told a dinner in Australia that this was an era of “generational realignment” that would require “clear vision,

New York state once again ranks as the “least free” in America, as a new Cato Institute report nails woes The Post has long decried. Cato’s libertarians rank the Empire State dead-last, 50th, for policies impacting economic, social and personal freedoms — and even where it scores slight gains (for legalizing pot and reforming criminal justice), Albany plainly screwed up. “Combined, state and local taxes are crushing. Debt is down from years past but is still the highest in the country at 26.1 percent of income,” notes the report. No wonder the state’s seeing a huge exodus to Florida (No. 2 in freedom, behind New Hampshire, and first in economic freedom),

Israel’s defenses took a giant leap forward this week when — for the first time ever — it used a laser beam to shoot down an incoming rocket fired by terrorists in Gaza. This isn’t science fiction, but the product of years of research and experimentation. The US military is doing its own laser-beam or “directed energy” research, and Israel and the United States cooperate. Lockheed Martin and Israel’s Rafael are developing Iron Beam, and ultimately it can mean not only ground-based laser defenses but lasers to mount on ships and planes as well. Israel fielded the weapon for the first time in combat a few days ago,

Nothing's as expensive as cheap imported labor, and New Yorkers are about to find that out the hard way. According to the New York Post: The NYPD’s force will be reduced to just 29,000 cops by the end of fiscal year 2025 — the lowest level since the mid-90s — amid a slew of city-wide budget cuts revealed by Mayor Eric Adams Thursday as the Big Apple grapples with its multi-billion-dollar migrant crisis. Under City Hall’s newly unveiled updated 2024 financial plan, the next five police academy classes will be axed — essentially decimating an already strained department as roughly 4,500 officers are expected to leave their ranks within the next 18 months.

Joe Biden privately apologized and vowed to 'do better' to a group of Muslim Americans for casting 'excessive skepticism' over the number of Palestinian deaths released by the Hamas-run Ministry of Health. The president, 81, faced five community figureheads who were furious one day after he publicly dismissed a Palestinian death toll on October 25. One person organizing the meeting said the process was a 's**tshow.' At the press conference at the White House, Biden - who has been steadfast in his support of Israel since October 7 - said: 'I have no notion that the Palestinians are telling the truth about how many people are killed.'

During the discussion, Stone essentially argued that the 2020 election could have been stolen. Here’s how it came up. At one point in the discussion, they were discussing the COVID vaccines and the pandemic, and Stone argued that Biden was being authoritarian with his vaccine mandates. “That's one form of it,” Maher replied. "I would say the form that Trump is threatening us with is even worse." “Which is what?” Stone asked. "Well, I mean, he doesn’t concede elections, you know, the elections only count if we win theory of government.

Based on the current polls, we may very well have an immovable object meets an irresistible force scenario, except here it is two aging, past-their-prime retreads who, in any normal time, would have retired to enjoy the remaining sands of the hourglass but have decided to instead run again for president. Both have fatal flaws. Under the old rules, we knew the election outcome without a doubt. Trump can’t possibly win, and Biden is certain to lose. But someone has to win, and it will not be that RFK weirdo. This spectacle is not a done deal. Though he’s far ahead today, Trump can still lose the nomination. I

According to a new Washington Post story, the Biden team is at its wit's end. They don't know what to do to convince the American people that the economy is in good shape. Of course, part of the reason they're failing so badly is because people know how much more they've had to pay for everything, and they see the high interest rates. Young people who would like to buy a home can't even do so in the current economy. But they're still trying to sell this to us, such as by claiming Thanksgiving was cheaper this year.

Many have asked Spielberg to say something…anything…but have been met with (yes) silence.
