Pope Francis on Saturday forcibly removed the bishop of Tyler, Texas, a conservative prelate active on social media who has been a fierce critic of the pontiff and has come to symbolize the polarization within the U.S. Catholic hierarchy.
A one-line statement from the Vatican said Francis had “relieved” Bishop Joseph Strickland of the pastoral governance of Tyler and appointed the bishop of Austin as the temporary administrator.
Strickland, 65, has emerged as a leading critic of Francis, accusing him in a tweet earlier this year of “undermining the deposit of faith.”

I'm not a Catholic, but my observation is that the Pope has become "woke". That would bother conservative Catholics like my sister. Just my take.

It is easy to find fault with this pope, but remember it is not just him, it is the college of cardinals that elected him who knew full well of his communist sympathies.

Strickland should leave the Catholic church, like Martin Luther.

I am a faithdul, practicing Catholic and fear the direction in which this renegade pope is quickly and brazenly leading us. Is he forcing a schism?
If he isn't in synch with THE Church as founded by Jesus Christ, then he should be the one to leave.
He doesn't own the church any more than Ronna owns the RNC.

In my community Catholics are leaving. Some in my own family are leaving and joining roadside Church's.
In my Parish we have One priest for two Parish's and we get a different priest every four years or so.
One was moved because he tried to put the make on a local married woman, , but most seemed to be likable priests.
The latest one told u8s at Mass that we would not get a priest for each of our Parish's until we came up with an additional $40,000 dollars at each Parish to pay for one. He claims the Archdiocese wants to be sure we can afford to pay the Priests salary, which is a bigger secret than the real cost to build a Harley Davidson motorcycle or the Coca-Cola formula.
It's getting tough to stay Catholic, and this Pope isn't making it any easier.

In order for alphabet Catholics to fully participate in the Church, they must be celibate in order to be in a state of grace. If they are indulging in their usual behavior, they are unrepentant sinners and cannot receive the Eucharist. Does Frankie really think that they are going to abide by Church doctrine? Perhaps he should focus on keeping heterosexual members in the Church but he’s shoving them out with both hands instead.

Whoa. Francis and his handlers are taking a ply straight of of the Obama’s/Biden regime. If I ever had doubts about whether or not this pope had good intentions, I no longer do. He, like all demons, cannot help but out themselves, sooner or later.

As an East Texas Baptist, I know very little about the Catholic hierarchy; however, I do know Tyler and Austin, Texas and the pope is essentially rubbing the noses of East Texas Catholics in pure, punitive wokeness. Putting the bishop of Austin over the pastoral governance of Tyler is like Hamas appointing Obama as the Texas Border czar.

FTA:
His firing sparked an immediate outcry among some conservatives and traditionalists who had held up Strickland as a leading point of Catholic reference to counter Francis’ progressive reforms. Michael J. Matt, editor of the traditionalist newspaper The Remnant, wrote that with the firing, Francis was “actively trying to bury fidelity to the Church of Jesus Christ.”
“This is total war,” Matt wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “Francis is a clear and present danger not only to Catholics the world over but also to the whole world itself.”
Could this woke pope be running scared?

As a Catholic for all of my 77 years, I was brought up on the Latin mass, head coverings were required as a show of respect. I drifted away when they started with the hootenanny mass. The church is changing, and I firmly believe that certain tenants are written in stone and must be adhered to. Political ideology has no place in church. Just this old lady’s opinion.

#18 - I'm not far behind you in age, I'm 69, and was brought up in the Latin Rite.
I took up wearing my mantilla again 28 years ago, in 1995, when I found out the real reason women are veiled. It wasn't "required out of respect (for God)." We are veiled to show honor for our role in the creation of life! All Vatican II said was they found no written rule that the practice was required, that it was a cultural practice. The tragedy was no one remembered or reminded us of the ancient reason for our veiling! As I began to wear mine and I told women why, more in my parish began to wear them. It is a beautiful tradition.
Vatican II had great intentions, but it was hijacked by radical socialist/communist theologians in its implementations. Pope Frank is their crowning glory. But he and they are just men. Only temporary custodians of Christ's Holy Catholic Church. Jesus promised us that the gates of hell shall not prevail against Her. Gates are a defensive position, which means we must be on the offensive. Our greatest weapon against forces of Satan is Our Lady's Rosary. Pray it often and conclude with, St. Michael the Archangel defend us in battle...

"....... a correct understanding of Catholic doctrine allows for change over time." That is in opposition to the Eastern Orthodox Churches, which teach that Jesus gave the apostles the faith "once, for all time." Evolving doctrine is antithetical to once, for all time. There were good reasons for the Great Schism, over a thousand years ago.

Anti-Pope Stalin I leaves German bishops who are calling for blessing sodomite relationships in their positions, but removes a faithful and holy bishop who calls the anti-pope out on his blasphemies.
There have been bad popes in the past, but this is the worst pope we have seen in the last couple of centuries. I am not Catholic, but I work with a lot of Catholics in the pro-life movement and they are all hoping this pope isn't around much longer. That is a sad thing to see.
