Sure, you could study hard to get a degree. But at Spelman, where I taught, you could also get a top administrator to change your grades. When I accepted a tenure-track position in the economics department of Spelman College in the spring of 2021, handing out bogus grades was the last thing on my mind. Spelman, after all, has a great reputation. Based in Atlanta, it’s a women-only historically black college, one of the oldest in the country; for the past 15 years, it’s been rated the number one HBCU by U.S. News & World Report.

Comments:

A sad commentary on the state of today's education establishment--Cowardly administrators intimidated by aggressive, entitled young people. Suggests the future outlook for our country is bleak.

Explains why the “Degree required positions” at the Power Company l spent my career at, were populated by complete idiots. The sad reality is that before a degree was required, these positions were filled by people working their way up and the institutional knowledge and associated abilities were invaluable.

I was a research chemist my entire career, over 40 years. I hired young PhD's and other research techs at many levels. The steady decline in the quality of Graduates of American institutions over that period is undeniable, and some of the worst offenders are the Ivys. Some of the PhDs in later years were almost illiterate. I once spent an hour arguing with a newly minted HARVARD PhD about a simple concept she should have learned in her first year undergrad (Henderson-Hasselbach eqn). She insisted I was absolutely incorrect, had no understanding of what pH was and absolutely could not understand the very simple high school algebra required to solve the equation. Went so far as to flat out state that the equation was obviously wrong. I threw up my hands and simply watched her completely screw up two days work. She was there several years and never did perform more adequately than some of the high school grads we used for tech work. And she was far from the only one. There is a reason that by the time I retired the vast magority of the competent researchers were foreign born and often foreign educated, and it was not because they were cheaper (they weren't).

A career path that I desired was teaching engineering. To that end, I chased a PhD while working in private industry. After completing the degree, I was enjoying my job so much that I stayed and did not seek an academic position. Years later I accepted a position as a university instructor at the senior/graduate level as a favor to a friend and business partner. There I was faced with the difficulties of grade enhancement demands, cheating, lying and complaining - mostly by non US citizens. I failed two Master’s candidates for cheating with the support of my department chairman. After two years,I quit. I later found great satisfaction in teaching industrial continuing ed courses to employed engineers who were there to learn, not to get a grade and a degree. I shake my head in grief when I think of the product delivered by today’s universities.

When one deals with people who've NEVER had to earn anything and lived on the largess of White Society, What the hell do you expect that their attitude would be? The HBCU is a scam and has been so for a great many years!, since Johnson's "Great Society" created all these parasites in the formerly worthwhile Black Communities!

I was employed by a chemical research facility for a number of years. I am a tradesman, fully trained and licensed in my field. My job was to make sure that none of the nitwits at the facility would blow the place up when they made their "runs". I was always busy correcting the mistakes that they made. I wondered where they got their PhDs. We all know what BS means, MS=more of the same, PhD= piled higher and deeper. Fits doesn't it.

More than half of American voters expect the highly consequential 2024 presidential election to be marred with cheating and fraud and believe mail-in voting impedes election integrity, according to a recently conducted survey. “How likely is it that the outcome of the 2024 presidential election will be affected by cheating?” Rasmussen Reports asked 1,029 voters on Nov. 13 to Nov. 15. Fifty-six percent of respondents believe cheating is likely to affect the election results while 31 percent anticipate election fraud is “very likely” to skew the outcome. Additionally, the survey found a majority of voters believe mail-in ballots facilitate voter fraud.

MSNBC contributor and former Democrat U.S. Senator of Missouri, Claire McCaskill, recently went on air and wrongly claimed Donald Trump is “even more dangerous” than dictators Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler. While on MSNBC’s Dateline, McCaskill stated, “A lot of people have tried to draw similarities between Mussolini and Hitler and the use of the terminology like ‘vermin’ and the drive that those men had towards autocracy and dictatorship.” She continued, “The difference, though, I think makes Donald Trump even more dangerous, and that is he has no philosophy he believes in.”

Why did Hamas terrorists gleefully mass murder civilians in Israel?... And why did the crowds of “civilians” cheer and beat the dead bodies of Israelis paraded in the backs of pickup trucks in Gaza? Further, why do governments and Muslims throughout the world claim to support Hamas and/or the Palestinians? To comprehend all of this, Westerners need to gain an understanding of the religio-political movement called “Islamism.” Islamism is an entirely different phenomenon than Western political parties, and its goals and values are vastly different. Islamism is the 100-year-old movement for Islamic revival, and has been led by Iran since its Islamic revolution in 1979.

According to one estimate I have seen, in 1973 there were only about 13,000 children being homeschooled. Today the number is over 5 million—and may be much higher, as many states do not track the numbers very carefully. The Washington Post has noticed, and you can tell they are worried about it. (The left has always hated homeschooling, and the teachers unions rightly understand what a threat homeschooling is to their gravy train, as most public schools derive their revenue by how many students are enrolled.)

Families of students in the South Orange & Maplewood School District district received a letter on Oct. 6 from Dr. Ronald G. oxic plumes and neon orange bodies of water are quite an ironic legacy for “clean” and “green” energy—how anyone can miss a paradox that in-your-face is beyond me (but that’s beside the point). Two stories out this week highlighted the growing concern over the “reckless” transition to the globalists’ vision of the energy industry: the first questioned whether or not public services were “equipped” to handle the unique “challenges and risks” posed when electric vehicle batteries catch fire, while the second covered a brand-new study published yesterday by Science Magazine, one of the world’s most prestigious, longstanding, and recognized academic journals (it first entered circulation almost 150 years ago).

It’s often asked in my circles: Why isn’t Joe Biden getting more credit for his accomplishments?... There is no one reason. But there is one overwhelming factor in play: the media. Or rather, the two medias... We reside in a media environment that promotes—whether it intends to or not—right-wing authoritarian spectacle. At the same time, as a culture, it’s consistently obsessed with who “won the day,” while placing far less value on the fact that the civic and democratic health of the country is nurtured through practices such as deliberation, compromise, and sober governance. The result is bad for Joe Biden. But it’s potentially tragic for democracy.

Joe Biden privately apologized and vowed to 'do better' to a group of Muslim Americans for casting 'excessive skepticism' over the number of Palestinian deaths released by the Hamas-run Ministry of Health. The president, 81, faced five community figureheads who were furious one day after he publicly dismissed a Palestinian death toll on October 25. One person organizing the meeting said the process was a 's**tshow.' At the press conference at the White House, Biden - who has been steadfast in his support of Israel since October 7 - said: 'I have no notion that the Palestinians are telling the truth about how many people are killed.'

Of course, part of the reason they're failing so badly is because people know how much more they've had to pay for everything, and they see the high interest rates. Young people who would like to buy a home can't even do so in the current economy. But they're still trying to sell this to us, such as by claiming Thanksgiving was cheaper this year.

Like Longfellow’s little girl, who had a little curl right in the middle of her forehead, sometimes ad agencies are very good indeed, and sometimes they’re horrid. When they’re good, it’s worth taking note because, as with all media, those short videos have a disproportionate effect on the American psyche. In the case of Chevy’s holiday ad, that effect can only be good. When I grew up in the 1960s and 1970s, in the pre-streaming age, you watched ads whether or not you wanted to. These years were the heydays of jingles and slogans. Indeed, for us, jingles were a family tradition.

Holocaust-2 that broke out in Israel on October 7 may suddenly have a positive impact on many left-liberal American Jews. The recent tragic events will cause an upheaval in liberal heads and shift their political mindset to the right: the American Jews will wise up, move away from a liberal worldview, and become more conservative. I will try to explain this seemingly unexpected prediction. From the 8th century B.C. to the middle of the last century, Jews have been persecuted and periodically expelled. Unlike many other peoples, who sometimes were also persecuted by their neighbors, the Jews until 1948 did not have their own country,
