Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy on Monday appeared open to running for the speakership again, despite having said last week after his ouster from the role that he would not run again.
The former speaker held a press conference Capitol Hill Monday to lay out a five-point plan for responding to Hamas’s barbaric assault on Israel over the weekend.
Asked during the conference whether there is any scenario in which he would consider another speakership bid, McCarthy replied: “This is about a moment in time. This is about what America’s going to do.”
“That’s a decision by the conference,” McCarthy added, circling back to the question about the speakership. “I’ll allow the conference

Am I missing something here? The House threw him out, not just failed to re-elect him. What makes him think that they have had a change of heart and will vote him back as Speaker?

truth alert: McCarthy made a strong 5 point speech on what gov't should be doing TODAY in/re Israel. the reality: the newbies are on recess with no plan for Israel or anything. i mean, where are the grownups when Americans are held hostage or in bodybags after a massacre. this is like Joe Biden's behavior with a lid at 11:45 today.
American have missing children, relatives, friendsetc. hard to put up with politicians of any stripe these days.

Greed is a powerful sin: Greed is a selfish and excessive desire for more of something (such as money) than is needed. It's a sin that paradoxically leaves us with less of what we really need.

Not No, but F no to this traitorous suck up to the communist death democrats getting back into any position of power. Go back to the loving arms of Frank Luntz McCarthy or did your pudgy boyfriend dump you after you were rightfully kicked out of the Speaker role. Like he is needed back because Israel was savagely attacked by the muslim Hamas beasts which by the way he is also responsible for helping to fund Iran and Hamas due to the budget deals he cut with the communist death democrats. This dude is seriously warped. He is a shining example of everything wrong with the republican party.

Okay, House GOP. Here's what you do. Meet Tuesday and from what i see , Jim Jordan has the votes. Nobody leaves that room without a blood oath that the next day, every GOP congresscritter will vote FOR the GOP candidate. And that includes Matt Gaetz. Andy Biggs, and anyone else. Put on your big boy pants and get to work.

In order to punish the "Gaetz 8", the establishment might just do this by simply offering the dims whatever they want. The message would be... don't mess with the establishment ever again. Politics/power over principles. Eff the country, its about us.

So “Rino” McCarthy is ousted, the one who seems ready to replace him, Jim Jordan, who was backing McCarthy, becomes Speaker. Isn’t this a Rino backing a Rino.? I’m still wondering why Gaetz and the other 7 aren’t campaigning to be Speaker. Aren’t they pure enough?

I still believe everyone in Congress needs to be dragged. Even the "good ones." Citizen politicians only! Two years and out. And, keep your day job. Vote electronically. Do it and you get a clean Washington DC as a bonus.

Kev, you had your chance and revealed what a dishonest man you are. You failed to keep up your end of the deal. Therefore, tell me in what universe we should trust you? If you are sincere, stay in your seat and advocate for America First policies. Otherwise, you are of no use to us.

Makes sense to me! The shortsighted Gaetz Eight had NO PLAN for electing a new speaker with their little democrat supported temper fit. I have no objection to Jordan or Scalise, but Jordan has important role in his committee assignment. Get McCarthy back in there so progress can resume. Those blinded by "Rino" claims haven't been paying attention. Our Congressman provided a substantial list of work accomplished and planned work that has been on hold for a week and NOW we are flat-footed with a horrific terror attack on our ally, Israel. Time for the grownups to get back in and take care of business.

#22 What good was it with a Committee's work if they couldn't send out subpoenas? McCarthy wasn't allowing subpoenas to be sent and that should be the end of him plus he lied and did backroom deals with Biden about funding Ukraine.
McCarthy is a sneaky Uniparty hack.
BTW Fox News last night had McCarthy on promoting him. Right along with other Rinos we despise. Hannity and Jesse Watters must have been forced to have these losers on. How far Fox News has fallen. Fair and balanced, my foot!

#22 "Get McCarthy back in there so progress can resume." What progress? The man did nothing after making a bunch of promises if they elected him. He made deals with McConnell that went directly against those promises, one of which was funding for Ukraine. Using the Israeli crisis to bring in an ineffective speaker who has already failed makes zero sense.

no smoke-filled back rooms of CR's or illegal transfers of unknown gazillions to WW 3.5 -10
by useless politicians who gull us for billions in aid and still demand more guns n money.

Despite the goal posts moving by his critics, the only thing that McCarthy actually did that got him fired as speaker, is approve voting on a CR rather than on more traditional annual appropriations budgets, which hasn't occurred in many years. President Trump never signed an on-time annual budget and he certainly did sign a CR, no different from McCarthy. Other than reading the repetitive, anti-McCarthy comments here from a half-dozen haters that McCarthy is sold out to democrats/communists, I've not seen any journalism detailing the nature of his supposed sell out. And no one pushing Trump for the speaker position bothers to address Trump's history vis-a-vis CRs or the $2.2 trillion "stimulus package he signed into law in 2020.
