n Wednesday, the second GOP presidential debate will take place at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute and will be televised on Fox Business Network (FBN), a cable channel with both conservative political and business credentials. FBN is newer and less controversial than the more prominent, politically charged Fox News Channel, but its turn in the spotlight makes clear a fundamental truth about the rise of cable news and its historic relationship to cable television’s bottom line. From the earliest days of cable, political programming has served the twin goals of giving the industry power and profits.

Time just can't help itself. FTA: CNN recently released a poll that found that 69% of Republicans and Republican-leaning voters question the legitimacy of the 2020 election, despite all evidence to the contrary. What evidence would that be Time? The truck loads of ballots being delivered to Philly? Or that it was proven that the voting machines could be hacked? Or is it all the ballots that just have biden on it and no down votes?

For the last six years or so, I've been collecting a list of credible links to articles exposing voter fraud, a list that has grown to more than three hundred entries. A couple of weeks ago, a liberal friend and I were arguing politics, and parroted the "there's no evidence for vote fraud" argument. I sent him the list. He was quiet for two days, then changed the subject.

A Reality Check for Republican Voters 33 replies
Posted by Mercedes44 9/27/2023 6:07:07 PM Post Reply
There are three realities that Republican voters can no longer avoid. The first, Joe Biden will not be the Democrat nominee in 2024. Second, the Democrats want to face a damaged Donald Trump in November of 2024. Third, Trump’s age, unforeseen events, and the egregious lawfare he is facing could eventuate in Trump having to drop out of the race. Ron DeSantis is the only viable proven conservative candidate to replace him and yet Trump and many Republican voters are foolishly determined to permanently destroy DeSantis and render him unelectable.

In both the Menendez and Trump cases, prosecutors are engaging in the questionable tactic of seeking to influence the jury before trial. Both show and tells [Menendez's gold bars and Trump's documents] are wrong. Both are intended to prejudice potential jurors and witnesses and to try the case in the court of public opinion before it is subject to the adversarial process to the courts of law. Two wrongs do not make a right -- nor do they cancel each other out.

ATHENS, Greece (AP) — A 35-year-old businessman without prior political experience was elected Sunday to lead Greece’s main opposition bloc, the left-wing Syriza party. Stefanos Kasselakis defeated Effie Achtsioglou, a 38-year-old lawmaker and former labor minister, in a runoff contest. Three other candidates had been eliminated in an earlier first round. With the votes still being counted, Achtsioglou called her rival to congratulate him. Kasselakis had just under 57% of the votes late Sunday with 70% of precincts reporting, while Achtsioglou had just over 43%. About 136,000 Greeks turned out to vote, fewer than in the first round.
Biden impeachment and Trump’s eligibility:

Americans are divided on a congressional impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden and it's a fairly close call on whether former President Donald Trump should be eligible for a second term – two results in an ABC News/Washington Post poll that demonstrate the country's profound political polarization. At the same time, while their situations are very different, more than half see accountability, rather than political victimization, in both Biden's situation and Trump's facing criminal charges. Overall, 44% say that based on what they know, Congress should begin impeachment proceedings that could lead to Biden being removed from office. Forty-seven percent say it should not.

In 2018, MPR News senior editor Mike Mulcahy was moderating a contentious debate between GOP gubernatorial candidates Tim Pawlenty and Jeff Johnson. Mulcahy tried to keep the discourse civil, as the two candidates traded barbs over who supported then-President Donald Trump and whether Johnson had called him a “jackass.” “Mike very humorously interjected, ‘Not to be a jackass, but we’re going to change the subject,’” recalled MPR News political reporter Brian Bakst. “And he changed it to something that was more serious, that would matter to voters as to which one of these guys could potentially be the next governor.”

Former President Donald Trump last year recruited ex-Sen. David Perdue to oust Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp from office after he refused to help the then-commander-in-chief overturn Joe Biden's 2020 presidential victory in the state. Perdue eventually lost the GOP gubernatorial primary in a landslide. And Kemp has repeatedly chided Trump over his continued claims about 2020, arguing that the party cannot win in 2024 if they continue to hark back on the past. But in an interview, the two-term Republican governor told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Saturday that he would still back Trump as the Republican nominee should the former president win the party's 2024 nomination.

BURTON, OHIO — Abortion rights activists shocked themselves and the Ohio political world when they resoundingly defeated an August proposal that would have made it more difficult to enshrine abortion protections in the state’s constitution. The next test comes on Nov. 7, when voters will decide whether to adopt a constitutional amendment to preserve access to abortion in a state that has veered increasingly to the right since 2016. But despite their high-profile victory in August, abortion rights activists know it doesn't mean November will be a cakewalk — and Democrats still face hurdles when it comes to the 2024 political cycle.

Seven years after he last took an NFL snap, Colin Kaepernick believes he can still help a team in need of a quarterback — even if it means playing on the practice squad. The former San Francisco 49ers signal-caller who exited the league in controversial fashion wrote a letter to the New York Jets last week requesting a chance to play quarterback for them, but with a twist. Rather than lobby for the Jets’ starting quarterback job with the team struggling in the wake of the season-ending injury to star Aaron Rodgers, Kaepernick asked for an opportunity to be the team’s practice squad quarterback. A New York judge’s Tuesday ruling valuing Donald Trump’s sprawling, headline-making Florida estate at $18 million has left industry experts perplexed. In his verdict, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron delivered a bombshell ruling that the former president committed fraud by inflating the value of his wealth, with details including the monetary value associated with Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach. This decision, which came down without a jury, has sent shockwaves through political — and real estate — circles, especially that $18 million base value for the property.
