A 63-year-old hiker was rescued Friday at Grand Canyon National Park after he was injured in a fall and his group of friends left him behind to continue their “backpacking adventure,” authorities said. Five friends were backpacking on the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park along the Kanab Creek when one of them, a 63-year-old male, fell and suffered a traumatic injury to his shoulder, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue said.

Comments:

Some friends....leaving someone with a serious injury alone in the wilderness is risking his life from shock or a wild animal attack.

It seems to me like the writer worked to spin this story and left out some facts. So if someone had been left behind would he be able to fit on the helicopter? Or would he have to be left behind and wait alone until the next morning to try to hike out. The helicopter would have a full complement of medical people and there may have only been room for the patient. Perhaps the helicopter people told them to leave him because they knew there wasn't room. I just don't trust much of anything in the news media anymore.

The hikers had been hiking for three days and had three more days ahead of them when one suffered an injury. Have to wonder what they had in the way of surplus supplies. Take too long and five hikers would need rescuing instead of one. The hikers had called for help and had been notified that help was on the way before they left the injured hiker. Could they have stayed with the injured hiker and cut their hike short? I would think one of the hikers should have stayed behind. The rescuers were critical of the fact that nobody stayed behind.

Last year when I celebrated a certain milestone birthday, I looked back at some of the choices I had made in my life. When I thought about some of the friends I picked, I said to myself: "What was I thinking?" And when I looked back at some of the women I pursued, again I asked myself, "What I was thinking?" Yes, this man definitely needs to find himself a new set of friends.

"abandoned him".....leaving him with a comm device that had rescuers on the way, and him in contact with them. I wouldn't be surprised if he told them he'd be OK as he waited for the rescuers, and to go on. I would have, as long as I had comms with rescue coming. Reading the story, it's quite different than the typical AssPress misleading headline.

Camden County Sheriff's deputy Buck Aldridge killed unarmed Leonard Cure, 53, after pulling him over on the I-95 on Monday. Cure had been freed after spending 16 years in prison for a wrongful armed robbery conviction and was unarmed at the time of the stop for speeding. Bodycam footage showed him lashing out after being tasered by Aldridge. The footage then shows the officer shooting Cure as he was lying on the ground.

Hear that flushing noise? Amid all the screeching of the anti-Semitic global elites, the haze of pro-Hamas global protests, and the Biden administration's efforts to micromanage how Israel conducts its war against avowed terrorists, Israel's Defense Forces have been quietly takin' care of business. AT's editor, Andrea Widburg has written about the mass surrenders which is happy news indeed, here. But how they did it is fascinating. They've flooded Hamas's tunnels, at least in some places, with sea water, in order to, as Israel's defense minister put it, to “wipe this thing called Hamas, ISIS-Gaza, off the face of the earth.”

Not every member of Hamas wants to be a “martyr.” They have seen how valiantly the IDF fights, relentlessly hunting them down in the north of Gaza and now in the south, with ever greater ferocity, determined to make sure that Hamas will never threaten Israeli civilians again. So, being the cowards they are — perfectly pleased to burn alive helpless children and gang-rape, torture, and murder young girls, a but distinctly less eager to fight the IDF — many are now choosing to surrender. They know that the Israelis won’t treat them the way they would have treated any Israelis who surrendered to them; they will not be executed.
