On Monday, the story of a Colorado child being booted from school for having a Gadsden Flag patch on his backpack went viral. As RedState reported, school officials claimed the flag was prohibited because it had its "origins in slavery." Twelve-year-old Jaiden, who attends The Vanguard School in Colorado Springs, found himself in trouble with his teachers after he wore a backpack that featured a patch of the Gadsden flag. He was kicked out of class and his mother was called into the office to discuss the wrong Jaiden had done. According to one of the school staff, the famous flag wasn't allowed

So there wasn't one history teacher in that entire school that could have verified that the Gadsden Flag had nothing to do with slavery?!?!?!? Homeschool, or a solid private school!!!! But never again let your kids anywhere near a public school!!!!!

If only history was taught in schools, to the teachers who obviously have no clue. Maybe this will be a starting point to teach today's kids the wonderful history of America.

USSC Tinker v DesMoines Independent School District Decision 393 U.S. 503 (1969). Zero in on the sentence from the case below, "“an undifferentiated fear or apprehension of disturbance” is not enough to limit expressive rights": The Court established a speech-protective standard for students—that school officials cannot prohibit student expression unless they can reasonably forecast that the student speech will cause a substantial disruption of school activities or invades the rights of others. The Court affirmed that symbolic speech enjoys First Amendment protection, that students possess constitutional rights in public schools, and that “an undifferentiated fear or apprehension of disturbance” is not enough to limit expressive rights. The Court held “that the wearing of armbands is ‘symbolic speech’ which is ‘akin’ to ‘pure speech’” and that students do not “shed their constitutional rights to freedom of speech or expression at the schoolhouse gate.” Additionally, the Supreme Court held that the protest did not seriously disturb learning or order at the school and that the ban on armbands “did not purport to prohibit the wearing of all symbols of political or controversial significance” but instead singled out these students’ particular viewpoint.

#1. Did you read the whole article? It was the school board that held an emergency session and affirmed their respect for the Constitution and The Bill of Rights. They also decided that the Gadsden patch is a valuable part of American history ad that Jaiden May keep it on his back pack. I will give a them a very big 1.

Keep this in mind when you hear the education establishment declare "we are the experts, we know what's best for your child" mantra. And, most teachers need a college degree and teachers certificate. So when you read the "majority of college educated vote Democrat", to make it seem they must know better, they don't. Particularly when they're linked to a union telling them how to vote.

That the school board had to release a statement that they will uphold the Constitution and Bill of Rights proves they don't believe in either but were forced to do so because of a backlash. Perhaps what this really shows is that the school needs to teach proper U.S. history and not just the one-sided anti-American ideas that suit leftist ideology.

Unfortunately what #13 and #16 say is true. An earlier article said the kid is an A student. No doubt some leftist teachers will get back at him via grades, and remember the dreaded “permanent record” in school? This will probably follow him to future schools as well. The government school establishment does not accept defeat.

When I attended my alma mater back in the Stone Age (the 1970’s) education majors were usually the students who weren’t smart enough to handle STEM or business school. It hasn’t changed. I told my wife this morning that I was surprised the school didn’t have any history teachers that could set the school’s principal straight about the Gadsden flag and she said “are you really?” I said I guessed not... The school board did the right thing - this time. They bear watching.

Ignorant fool of a teacher, just floundering and falling back to "I was just following policy".....except that she wasn't.. The kid sees that he has her tied in knots and struggling to defend her thuggish, anti-American decision, and losing. Several smiles as she's struggling to say anything that even makes a decent sentence, let along make sense. Total win as the school folks backed off quickly and acknowledged that the flag was associated ONLY with the Revolutionary War....which is still a good thing. But how long before some leftist starts telling us that revolting against "proper authority" of Britain was bad?

Georgia Gov. Kemp dismissed calls to impeach Willis as “political theater” during a press conference on Thursday. In mid-August, Georgia state Sen. McAfee will also allow reporters to use their computers and cell phones inside the courtroom so long as they are not used to record the trial. McAfee’s announcement is aligned with Fulton County policy that broadcasts judicial proceedings on its YouTube channel. No trial date has been set in Trump’s Georgia case. Georgia’s rules are the opposite of those in New York and the federal court system, where Trump faces three other criminal cases. Cameras are not permitted

A Texas law banning transgender care for minors will go into effect on Friday, now that the state Supreme Court has lifted a temporary injunction issued by a lower court. Last week, a Texas district judge ruled that the law banning the medical transition of minors violated the rights of transgender children, as well as the alleged rights of doctors who follow “well-established, evidence-based” medical guidelines. After the judge issued the temporary injunction, Texas officials immediately appealed to the state Supreme Court, the highest court for civil cases in the state. The order from the Supreme Court lifting the injunction provided no further explanation as to the constitutional reasoning behind

A policy that determines when people can be charged with low-level drug offenses in Harris County has once again been altered, according to an internal memo from the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. In April, the DA’s office implemented a policy that placed the responsibility for drug testing for suspected narcotics weighing less than four grams on law enforcement before they could file a possession charge with the county. Now, as of August 27, the policy has largely been reversed due to the “increasing public safety threat of fentanyl,” according to the DA’s office. “Fentanyl, by itself and mixed with other controlled substances, appears to be a component

Trump’s lawyers submitted the plea in writing and notified the court that he will not appear in person for the scheduled arraignment next week, which is allowed under Georgia law. The former president said in the court filing Thursday that he had discussed the charges in the indictment with his attorney, "and I fully understand the nature of the offenses charged and my right to appear at arraignment."
