DailyMail.com revealed this week how the Biden administration was considering slashing alcohol guidelines to just two drinks per week.
Dr George Koob, America's alcohol czar, said that evidence had increasingly indicated no amount of alcohol was good for human health.
Yet every year, studies hint that when consumed in moderation, there may be mild benefits to drinking alcohol. The theories range from booze acting as a way to de-stress to health benefits gained from consuming the antioxidants in wine, but none of these have ever been proven definitively.
We put the question of whether any amount of alcohol can be beneficial to six experts —

Where the heck did a booze czar come from? Is it the same as the cow czar and rice czar, and my all time favorite the aloe czar? Who's going to count how much someone drinks? I don't, at all, so it doesn't affect me but I'm fed up with all the new czars who have no legitimate authority telling us what we can and can't eat or drink.

It seems to me they tried this around 1918. By 1933 after thousands of murders and the rise in organized crime they decided it might not have been such a good idea after all.

Before the elves who scrub the internet of all these articles, avail yourselves of one or more of many articles about the benefits of wine every day.
About 5 ounces a day to be most beneficial.

How will Dr. Boob enforce his recommendation? Install breathalizers in every room of every home? Put automatic counters on every bottle of alcohol beverage? Have neighborhood captains perform DUI tests on every individual on his/her block? Require a blood test before each beverage? Place blood test stations in every restaurant/bar/tavern? Tell us Dr. Boob!

It's been so long since I had any kind of alcohol I forgot what the stuff tastes like. My doc told me that he didn't think it was a good idea for all the pills I take to be floating in booze. Giving up booze and smoking wasn't that hard. What was hard was giving up orange juice. I really loved that stuff. But, I got used to black coffee to start the day.

# 4 - you comment reminded me of my great-grandfather. The old guy ran a still and ran white lightening all during prohibition. Made a fortune. Lived to a ripe old age.

When the commie marxists were in power in what was then the USSR, the one overriding thing they never did as far as I can tell was to limit the vodka available to the general population. The tyrants were able to keep the public drunk and miserable with their lot in life, but they were too drunk to rise up and overthrow Moscow. A little known fact during Prohibition is that while the nation at large was not allowed to legally drink, Congress could have all the booze they wanted, and it was delivered to their congressional offices by literal crooks. Congress has been in the business of hypocrisy for at least a century now.
Now if they go after our nation's coffee supply, there will be a huge problem of epic proportions.

Commies in Eastern Europe, at one time, forbade some of the worker-bees and even high party members from imbibing. And had surprise visits to make sure they remained sober.

Just a point of fact # 10 it was not illegal to consume alcohol during prohibition. It was illegal to buy sell or transport it. Congress kept a carafe of sherry on the dining tables to add to their soup.
If you laid in a supply before prohibition you could drink it. But who knew how much you would need for the 13 years that it took to undo it.

I don't use alcohol, but I don't object to adults who want to indulge, as long as they don't drink and then drive.

The question is.
Who created all these 'Czars' anyway?
I thought the last one was deposed, then murdered by the Bolsheviks somewhere around 100 years ago.
The LameStream Media cooperates so intimately with the Democ'RATS to poison and eventually destroy our Republic.

The states of Alabama, Idaho, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Utah and Virginia all own the liquor stores directly. There are 17 states in all that control the sale of liquor in some way. The 18th amendment gave that control to the states. Not to imply that Biden couldn't just take control back.

As a mental health/addictions counselor with 37 yrs experience, I can say that if you want to have a drink, go for it. If it starts causing problems at home, at work, legally, you might want to reassess your relationship with alcohol. As for amounts, that's an individual choice.

When some one charged Gen. Grant, in the President’s hearing, with drinking too much liquor, Mr. Lincoln, recalling Gen. Grant’s successes, said that if he could find out what brand of whisky Grant drank, he would send a barrel of it to all the other commanders.
If any knows if that whiskey is available today, what the name is, let me know. Meanwhile, don't stand between me an Evan Williams Black Label between the hours or 2 and 7PM

It's time to stop calling these petty tyrants 'czars', which is suggestive of pre-communist Russia. Call them what they now in fact are: 'commissars'. That connects to the kind of government we now have.
