Pope Francis said there is a “very strong, organized, reactionary attitude” in the U.S. Catholic church, that is “backwards” and has led the church to replace faith with “ideology,” according to a new transcript of the comments released Monday.
The remarks came during a private meeting with Portuguese members of his Jesuit religious order during a visit to Lisbon on August 5, per a transcript of the meeting published by the Jesuit journal La Civilta Cattolica.
A Portuguese Jesuit told Francis that he struggled during a recent sabbatical year in the U.S. after coming across many Catholics, including bishops, who were critical of Francis’s papacy and today’s Jesuits, at which point

It isn't possible for me - - a lifelong Catholic - - to despise anyone more than I despise that stinking commie.
And the worst part is - - the stinking commie has stacked the college of cardinals with even more stinking commies - - who will elect another stinking commie - - after this stinking commie has croaked.
Is it time for a second protestant revolution? It's seems more and more likely.

I am afraid that Pope Francis has become irrelevant. No one really cares what he has to say, except maybe his fellow Jesuits.

speaking as a disenfranchised Catholic, I have been dissatisfied with the the Catholic Church since 1956 and this poseur isn't helping, in any way, to cause me to change my opinion

Maybe he should stop accepting any funds from the American Catholics.
As a lifelong Catholic I find it hard NOT to be critical of this Pope.
He has replaced his instructions on Faith with his Communist Ideology.

The Jesuits have been leftist ideologues embracing numerous positions at odds with the Catholic faith such as 'liberation theology' and LBTQ perversion (James Martin, S.J., anyone?) for many generations. Pope Francis whining to his brother Jesuits is the pot calling the kettle black.

I would assume by "reactionary" he means the old fossils who want to bring back guitar masses, felt banners, picnic table altars and other obsolete detritus from the 1960s.

It is nowhere more clear than the Roman Church that once the "SJW's" infiltrate an organization it is only a matter of time before the entire organization is taken over. "Social justice" is like a virus; once it has entered the cell it hijacks the cell's reproduction system so that, instead of replicating cells like itself, the cell makes more of the virus until, exhausted by the effort, the cell simply dies. The Roman Church is going to soon die at the hands of its clerical destroyers, headed by the anti-Pope Francis himself. There is simply no saving it at this point. It is possible that a faithful remnant might emerge and organize into a smaller, traditional (i.e., Biblical) version of itself. Or not; time will tell.

I strongly recommend the book-the politically incorrect Catholic church by John Zmirak. The fact is that we Catholics only need to obey the Pope if he is speaking from the Chair of St, Peter on faith and morals. We do not need to believe what he says on climate change or any of his liberation nonsense

nice work by the bigots who have been misrepresenting Francis for years. So you have driven a wedge where none was needed. It is absolutely true there are priests who make political speeches while dressed in their vestments, and that is an abomination. And that said there are leftists who do the inverse and you are an abomination also. Politics is the vocation of the laity. you just preach Jesus Christ crucified and shut up about who we all must vote for. you are not graced to hold correct opinions in that arena. And everybody else, take it easy. The Popes are always a bit anti-American and that is fine. We are rich and it is proper and correct to beat us up not flatter us. It does us no harm.

Francis is not first crappy pope we've had to bear. There have been far too many in the last 2,000 years. It is times like these I remember Christ in the Garden sweating blood as He foresaw the future of all humanity. Jesus has already suffered for the earthly sins of His Beloved Church. Yet, we must remember Our Lord's promise; the gates of hell would not prevail against her. Gates are a defensive position, which means Christ wants His Church to be on the offensive against evil and that is why we believers on earth are called the Church Militant.
We do have great prelates such as Archbishop Viganò and many others. We have thousands of American conservative pastors leading vibrant parishes, and bishops that support Latin Rite parishes. If we didn't, pope Frank would not have mentioned it to his Jessie brethren.
It does sadden me to hear fellow and sister Catholics who stay away from Mass due to political differences with the usurper in Rome. He is only a fleeting human being against two thousand years of True Faith, and most important of all, the reception of the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. There is no requirement to financially support Rome in order to attend Mass. Do not let earthly concerns keep you from the Heavenly Food that will feed your soul on your earthly journey to our True Home.

When the biblical was first translated into English the Catholic Church was concerned about migration of the scriptures. We’ll, it looks like ‘evolution’ (migration) of the scriptures is in full bloom in the papacy.

So...Pope Francis is expecting Catholics to have faith, not in God, or the Bible...or even Catholic traditions...but in his own, personal, evolving and already corrupted ideology and morality?
