Black Voters Saved Biden in 2020. Democrats
Now See a ‘Red Flag’ in Slipping Support

Black voters propelled Joe Biden to the Democratic nomination in 2020, but after the dust settled from his general election victory over Donald Trump, members of the party acknowledged that the president needed to do more to shore up support among this core constituency. As Biden prepares to ask voters for four more years in office, a spate of new polls indicates the problem may have intensified. Biden’s 2020 margin among Black voters was smaller than for any other Democratic presidential nominee over the past two decades, and the latest data suggests that support has eroded since the election.

There can be a "red flag" for Black people until the cows come home. It will make no difference. They are like some voting machines, preprogrammed into the Democrat column.

The Central Intelligence Agency offered to pay off analysts in order to bury their findings that COVID-19 most likely leaked from a lab in Wuhan, China, new whistleblower testimony to Congress alleges. A senior-level CIA officer told House committee leaders that his agency tried to pay off six analysts who found SARS-CoV-2 likely originated in a Wuhan lab if they changed their position and said the virus jumped from animals to humans, according to a letter sent Tuesday to CIA Director William Burns. Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic Chairman Brad Wenstrup (R-Ohio) and Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Mike Turner (R-Ohio) requested all documents, communications

About three-quarters of likely voters would like Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) to resign from his leadership post, his most negative rating since suffering a second mental freeze while speaking to the media. While a congressional doctor has cleared him to return to work, 73% said it’s time for the Kentucky senator to retire from leadership. And according to the latest Rasmussen Reports survey shared with Secrets, the feeling is bipartisan. The survey found that 74% of Republicans want him to leave his leadership post and 73% of Democrats agree. McConnell has brushed aside calls to step down or retire.Twice recently McConnell has gone into a

When a bipartisan congressional bill ending the COVID-19 national emergency was reluctantly signed by President Biden last April, most Americans hoped that the politicization of the virus was at an end. Those hopes dimmed two weeks ago when Dr. Anthony Fauci materialized on CNN, like Banquo’s ghost at Macbeth’s feast, to dispute a widely publicized study showing that masking doesn’t reduce the spread of COVID or any of its variants. After host Michael Smerconish described the study’s findings, Fauci brayed that it somehow helps “at an individual level.” This is nonsense, of course, but his return to the talking head circuit tells us something important about Democratic intentions in 2024.

A Wall Street Journal national poll over the Labor Day weekend has shaken some observers' views of the 2024 Republican presidential campaign. The bottom line: It's no longer a two-man race between former President Donald Trump and Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL). Trump has pulled so far ahead and DeSantis has fallen so far behind that it is now inaccurate to characterize the two as locked in a head-to-head battle. The numbers: Trump was the choice of 59% of poll respondents, while DeSantis was the choice of 13%. After DeSantis came former South Carolina Gov. and U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley at 8% and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy at 5%.

Within minutes after the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol Hill riot began, the Democrats, the corporate media, and countless progressive law professors unanimously declared that it was an “insurrection.” Inevitably, they accused then-President Trump of inciting this purported uprising in order to overthrow the 2020 election. Most Americans, however, saw the mayhem merely as a protest that devolved into a riot. Then the other shoe dropped. The people promoting the “insurrection” narrative developed an intense interest in Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which disqualifies anyone from holding public office at the federal or state level if they have “engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the United States.”

Former President Trump’s decision to duck the first GOP presidential debate may have been tactically sound, but if he tries to sit on his lead in the polls until January, he may regret it. This is certainly true in Iowa, where voters expect a lot of attention from the candidates, and don’t consider Twitter interviews or intermittent rallies as acceptable substitutes. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has a well-developed retail campaign operation in Iowa that includes personal visits to each of the state’s 99 counties. Moreover, a recent survey conducted by widely respected pollster J. Ann Selzer reveals that the Trump-DeSantis race may well be closer than it seems.

Who won the first GOP presidential debate of the cycle? That's obviously going to depend on who you ask and to be sure, many had their talking points ready to go before the event even started. Sometimes, those talking points have to be reshuffled in the aftermath, though, and that offers a clue as to who actually did pretty darn well. For example, before the debate, there was a general consensus among the pro-Trump wing of the party that Vivek Ramaswamy would rhetorically dominate and deliver an embarrassing takedown of Ron DeSantis. Instead, the young rookie found himself on the defensive amidst several major stumbles, including plagiarizing Barack Obama

President Barack Obama famously warned fellow Democrats in 2020, “Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to f–k things up.” The warning was ignored by many as an almost brotherly reference to Biden’s habit of making false claims (like being arrested when seeking to see Nelson Mandela) or his continual verbal gaffes. Biden has always had a certain penchant for bragging, whether it’s claiming a dead man told him he reached a million miles on Amtrak, being a cross-country trucker or fighting off some “bad dude” named Corn Pop. But one of those bravado moments may have revealed more than vanity.

In a tweet sent out over the weekend, Rob “Meathead” Reiner declared that “For our Democracy to survive, two things have to happen. Donald Trump needs to be Convicted for Jan. 6th and there can be no Third Party Candidate.” Reiner’s comment was so blatantly anti-democratic that it elicited an avalanche of criticism, some of it from leftists who didn’t particularly like the idea of barring third-party candidates. As one person on X (formerly known as Twitter) responded: “Better make sure there’s no second party candidate either, just to be safe. But before the mess that is Holly, King kept himself in check, never making politics central to his story nor demonizing those who do not share his ideology by using fact patterns unmoored from any sort of reality. The Democratic mayor of a small Massachusetts city is urging state lawmakers to reform a 40-year-old “right-to-shelter” law that is putting immense strain on the area as thousands of migrant families arrive. Woburn mayor Scott Galvin said by Friday there were about 150 families living in the city’s hotels, an arrangement he called unsustainable for his 40,000 constituents. Under the 1983 right-to-shelter law, Massachusetts officials are legally required to offer housing to any homeless families seeking shelter in the state. The law now covers a rising influx of migrant families, although individuals are not covered under its provisions.

What a great question going into the 2024 presidential election! It was asked over 40 years ago and led to one of the biggest landslide elections in U.S. history. As the Harvard Kennedy School summarized: In the final week of the 1980 presidential campaign between Democratic President Jimmy Carter and Republican nominee Ronald Reagan, the two candidates held their only debate. Going into the Oct. 28 event, Carter had managed to turn a dismal summer into a close race for a second term. And then, during the debate, Reagan posed what has become one of the most important campaign questions of all time:
