Republican Indiana Rep. Jim Banks sent a letter Wednesday to Department of Agriculture Sec. Tom Vilsack demanding answers over a department rule change Banks said would block religious schools from participating in the USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service programs. The rule change falls under the department’s Title IX sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) provision. (snip) Banks mentions the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) blocking preschoolers enrolled at the Church of Compassion Dayspring Learning Center from qualifying for free lunches provided by the USDA’s Child and Adult Food Care Program in December 2022, because the preschool objected to the USDA’s SOGI rule.

When I was in school, every kid paid for his own lunch. Those of us who could not afford the 35 cents packed a sandwich and an apple. Everybody was fine with it. There should be no free lunch in school or later in life either.

I have no problem with everyone packing their own lunch but we know there will be some who are going without their noon meal. But that is a discussion for another day. Right now this ruling is all you need to know that FJB is an sob.

Remember when democrats and media accused Reagan and republicans of cutting school funding and starving kids? IIRC, they even accused the WH at that time of considering catsup a vegetable. So the irony with Biden attacking Christian kids is just beyond loathsome.

WAKE UP aardvark! EVERY time you demand a new service from a government flunky, there are hundreds of opportunities created to mistreat various classes of citizen. Dump ALL these programs. Get rid of the DoEd and return the responsibility to the states. When are you gonna learn? Government doesn't do ANYTHING well or without waste so don't let them do much of anything.

I have no problem with giving children food at lunch time. And once when I was a teacher's assistant, there were two or three kids who went around the cafeteria asking kids if they were going to eat their rolls. The teachers told me they had no food at home and this is what they'd eat that night. So no, punishing hungry children is wrong, no matter their religion. But the Biden people are trying to hurt children because of their religion - that's sick.

You can't say that children are going without food unless the parents are willfully using their monthly government allowances on booze, drugs, cigarettes or other trash. We have overlapping government programs that force taxpayers to pay for everything if you are classified as some kind of victim. How many of these "hungry" kids do without a cell phone or cable TV? Schools and YMCAs pay for three meals a day in most states and kids are obese, not hungry.

The Peacock streaming service increased its subscriber base and still lost $651 million over the last three months: Peacock finished the June quarter with 24 million subscribers, up from 22 million at the end of March — but the streamer lost $651 million over the same three months. Sadly, those losses have pretty much become par for the course. The NBCUniversal streaming platform lost $704 million in the prior quarter (and $467 million in Q2 2022). The company expects to post “peak” losses from streaming — to the tune of $3 billion — in 2023.

Does abortion really constitute health care? 13 replies

Health care for some should not involve paying for the death of others. Despite the Dobbs v. Jackson ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade, many pro-abortion advocates still claim that “abortion is health care.” This erroneous phrase misses the mark when it comes to what health care truly is. When doctors take their oath to “do no harm,” there is an inherent understanding that human life is sacred and therefore not something easily given up or taken away. To take an innocent life -- for whatever reason -- does not constitute health care.
