The Tony Awards were held Sunday night and televised live on CBS and Paramount+. I did not watch the show but a tweet caught my eye. It had to do with an actress and a Ku Klux Klan reference to Governor Ron DeSantis. Actress Denee Benton was on stage to present the Excellence in Theatre Education Award from Carnegie Mellow University. The 2023 recipient of the award is Jason Zembuch Young of South Plantation High School in Plantation, Florida. In her remarks leading up to the award presentation, Benton noted that she is a CMU alum and that she is from Florida. Then she launched into a random attack on the governor

The Air National Guardsman accused of posting a trove of classified documents to social media has been formally indicted on six counts of willful retention and transmission of classified information related to national defense, the Justice Department announced on Thursday.
Jack Teixeira, a junior enlisted airman who worked within the Massachusetts Air National Guard’s 102nd Intelligence Wing, was arrested in April and charged under the Espionage Act. He allegedly took classified information from Otis Air National Guard Base and is accused of posting the information to Discord, a popular social media platform among gamers.
Donald Trump Jr. could get some unwanted publicity if a judge releases “offensive” emails that reportedly include derogatory remarks about Jews and Mexicans. The Wall Street Journal reported that emails written years ago between Don Jr., his good friend Gentry Beach, and other businessmen, could be made public. The emails reportedly include disparaging comments about Jews and Mexicans, are considered a “side battle” to a case filed by Beach some 15 years ago against his former hedge fund employer, Touradji Capital Management.
Those messages just recently became relevant again thanks to a retrial in the hedge fund case.
Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo is set to formally endorse Democratic Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee for mayor of Houston.
Hidalgo is expected to make the official announcement at an event in Mickey Leland Memorial Park on Thursday.

A grand jury has indicted former U.S. Marine Daniel Penny in connection with the chokehold death of Jordan Neely aboard a subway train.

I guess I am a prude, but it never occurred to me to imagine that at a White House, even a guest of the President of the United States would disrobe.
Silly me. I keep on forgetting that the whole point of alphabet ideology is to strip all norms and dignity from Western values and replace them with…this. There has been a lot of angst about the manner in which the White House was draped with a Pride flag at the place of honor in the center of a display.
