Ajay Banga, the Biden-appointed president of the World Bank, promised to “push” the financial institution to its limits to combat climate change in an interview with Reuters late Tuesday. While Banga said he would not take any actions that would threaten the global financier’s “AAA” credit rating, he said that he would leverage the bank’s balance sheet “as hard as you can” to address climate issues, Reuters reported. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Beijing early Sunday on a high-stakes diplomatic mission to try to cool exploding US-China tensions that have set many around the world on edge.
Blinken was to begin two days of talks with senior Chinese officials in the afternoon. He is the highest-level American official to visit China since President Joe Biden took office and the first secretary of state to make the trip in five years.
The trip comes after he postponed plans to visit in February over a Chinese spy balloon that was shot down after drifting over the US, further inflaming tensions between DC and Beijing.
The number of New Jersey students claiming to be “nonbinary” has increased by over 4,200 percent in four years, according to figures released by the state’s Department of Education.
The number of students in pre-kindergarten through senior year claiming to be “nonbinary” increased from 16 to 675 from 2019 to 2022, according to the data.
Eight of those children are in preschool.

The U.S. Army is considering a new tape test that will help officers measure a soldier’s body fat, according to a new report.
"We want well-balanced soldiers," Army Sgt. Maj. Michael Grinston told Task and Fitness in March. "We didn’t want people to game it so you’d be really strong in one area, but you wouldn’t be well-rounded in fitness overall."
The previous tape test, which the Army uses to determine body fat content, measured soldiers around their necks, waists and hips. Critics have long called the method outdated and inadequate for gauging fitness, according to military.com.

Majorities of registered voters believe that special counsel Jack Smith’s indictment of former President Donald Trump is “politically motivated” and election interference, according to a Harvard/Harris poll.
A portion of the poll, which was conducted after Trump’s arraignment, gauged public perception of the 37-count indictment relating to classified documents Trump allegedly took to Mar-a-Lago at the end of his presidency. Of the registered voter respondents, 55 percent believe that the indictment is “politically motivated” versus 45 percent who find it “valid.”

In that vote, 20 Republicans rejected Luna’s censure resolution, in part because it recommended a $16 million fine against Schiff for telling "lies" about collusion between former President Trump and Russia, something that several investigations were never able to prove.
