New York City Mayor Eric Adams has urged millions of residents to remain indoors as hazardous smoke from Canadian wildfires has bellowed in from across the border.
Huge swaths of the nation from the Northeast to the Great Lakes are braced for several more days of smog, while Canadian officials continue to grapple with over 400 wildfires.
A thick, nicotine-yellow haze shrouded the famous Big Apple skyline Wednesday, while the city briefly became the most polluted in the world as its Air Quality Index score soared past 200, which is deemed 'very unhealthy'.

The vaccine will be available next week. Everyone must take it or you stay inside until after the USOpen Tennis is done. This means you too Mr Djokovic.

Stay inside? With their deadly toxic gas stoves? Now they’re just trying to kill everybody.

Bullshirt.
It's just smoke, no big deal. I was in Moscow in the middle 2000s when they had huge peat fires which made visibility about 200 yards, maximum. It was a nuisance, but was nothing beyond inconvenient and unpleasant.
DM's business model is endless hysteria about everything. That is so tiresome.

FTA...'after hazardous smoke from Canadian wildfires bellowed across the border. '
And the citizens had better invest in some really good earplugs. Didn't know smoke could 'bellow'.

How are we supposed to believe that there's really a wildfire in Canada if the media hasn't even tried to blame Trump?

I've been to Syracuse.
In the winter.
Back when we made things.
Nothing beats the smell of high sulfur coal on a -20 degree day.
Or on a +110 degree day.
This ain't nothing compared to then...

So is smoke from Canadian wildfires more dangerous than the smoke from the Mexican agricultural fires that we get in Texas every Spring? What about Sahara dust?

Unless I’m mistaken, masks don’t filter out “nanoparticles” or smoke. Neither do the usually used home air filters used with heat pumps or various types of heating-cooling systems, only dust and pollen.. The air inside a home is the same as the air outside. Someone may be able to correct me on this.

I saw live footage of that smoke in NYC and Buffalo on Fox News earlier today. Like being in the middle of a wildfire it was so bad. I hope the temps don't get too hot for the residents of NYC, because they won't be able to use their AC if they have it or a window fan. I do feel a bit of sympathy for the residents of the states affected. I know what it is like when the wind blows smoke from wildfires into the Willamette Valley area of Oregon. It leaves a nasty taste in your mouth even inside your residence.
To the posters who are scoffing right now, you might try to be a little more sympathetic. That smoke is nasty if you have serious allergies or lung conditions like asthma. NYC and the rest of the NE affected by this don't deserve this problem on top of everything else going on right now.

We have been told for years that our cars and industry are responsible for global warning and the upcoming elimination of all life as we know it. Whatever pollution cow flatulence or which we humans produce is nil compared to what is coming down from the natural paradise up in the northern woods.

Hey you wanking greenie eco warrior tree huggers...take that...wonder how many tons of carbon have been released into the air??? Not got anything to say??? How about spending Billions to make filters to take the particles out of the air...you could mount them on the vanes of all those nifty windmills....

Today from the CDC:
"Dust masks, surgical masks, and bandannas are not sufficient to protect children from smoke and N95 masks are typically not fitted for kids and may not provide adequate coverage."
No protection from smoke, but totally effective against the deadliest virus in history!

...and the whole mess brought to us by bad forest management in Canada..... the same bad management that causes the fires in Kalifornia.
Both places, the Lefist (Communist) 'Eco Protesters' stopped the wintertime controlled burns... controlled burns that clear out the underbrush that makes these wildfires possible.
