Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) raised $1 million in the first hour after he launched his presidential campaign Wednesday, his press secretary said. “There was so much enthusiasm for Governor DeSantis’ vision for our Great American Comeback that he literally busted up the internet. Washington is next. $1 million raised online in one hour… and counting!” press secretary Bryan Griffin tweeted Wednesday afternoon. The announcement comes after DeSantis entered the race for the Republican nomination for president after months of speculation. DeSantis filed his paperwork with the Federal Election Commission earlier Wednesday before posting an official campaign launch video on his Twitter account.

That's okay. The Bushes can afford it. This man had it in the palm of his hands, then blew it. And I don't think he has any idea how badly.

He didn’t raise anything. The big donors were assembled at the Four Seasons to make donations after his announcement according to the plan.

Okay. $1 million? By how many donors? If it were DJT, we would be talking 50 - 100 thousand.

In 2016 Jeb had a master huge War chest. It didn't seem to do him any good. DeSantas for whatever reason is following the Bush's strategy for the primary campain. Quite a risk. If he loses Florida to Trump his political career will be over. All he had to do is wait four more years, he would have finished his governorship just as the primary system started.

Joe Biden doesn’t seem to give a darn about debt negotiations or our economic status. First, he refused to even talk with Republicans for 97 days. But since he has been talking, he doesn’t want to cut anything, he just wants to keep spending us into the poor house. He’s completely in the thrall of the leftist wing of his party and they don’t want him to agree with the Republicans. Unfortunately for the Democrats, Americans want cuts and they see Joe Biden as the obstacle here. The Republicans already passed a bill, it’s Biden who isn’t getting it done and Americans see it.

The trial of Dr. Jamie Lee Henry and his wife Dr. Anna Gabrielian started Tuesday in Baltimore. Both are accused of offering to use their positions to spy for Russia and to hand over private medical information on US officials and military personnel. Dr. Jamie Lee Henry was both a doctor and an Army major with a secret security clearance. Prosecutors have said during the trial that it was possible he could have handed the Russians Joe Biden’s medical records. Prosecutors alleged the couple could potentially provide the Russian government access to President Biden’s medical records, among other high-profile patients, in systems accessible online.

Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida brought in $8.2 million in fundraising during the 24 hours after he declared his candidacy for president, his campaign announced on Thursday. The announcement by the DeSantis campaign is a move to exhibit the energy and enthusiasm for the Florida governor as he enters a GOP 2024 nomination race where former President Donald Trump is the clear front-runner in the latest polling. DeSantis declared his candidacy for president on Wednesday in a campaign launch video first reported by Fox News. That announcement was quickly followed evening following an extremely rocky rollout by DeSantis in an appearance on Twitter with business magnate

AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton teetered on the brink of impeachment Thursday after years of scandal, criminal charges and corruption accusations that the state’s Republican majority had largely met with silence until now. In an unanimous decision, a Republican-led House investigative committee that spent months quietly looking into Paxton recommended impeaching the state’s top lawyer. The House could vote on the recommendation as soon as Friday. If it impeaches Paxton, he would be forced to leave office immediately. The move sets set up what could be a remarkably sudden downfall

Judge Amit Mehta of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia imposed the sentence Thursday after a hearing in which Rhodes declared himself a "political prisoner" and likened himself to former President Donald Trump. WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Thursday weakened a landmark water pollution law by ruling that an Idaho couple's property does not include wetlands subject to federal oversight under the law.actually The ruling, in which all the justices agreed in the outcome but differed on the legal reasoning, concluded that Mike and Chantell Sackett's land does not fall under jurisdiction of the 1972 Clean Water Act, so they do not require a federal permit to build on the property. The decision ends a yearslong battle between the Sacketts and the federal government and is a victory for conservative groups and business interests opposed to the broad application

The Supreme Court has ruled in favor of the plaintiff in Tyler v. Hennepin County, finding that county officials violated the Takings Clause of the Fifth Amendment by seizing not only back taxes owed by an elderly home owner whose condo but also equity she had accumulated in her condo. The case centers around Geraldine Tyler, a 94-year-old woman, whose $40,000 home was seized by Hennepin County, Minn., due to $15,000 in unpaid taxes and fees. However, after the sale of the property, local officials kept the surplus $25,000 profit instead of returning the funds to Tyler. “A taxpayer who loses her $40,000 house to the State to fulfill

It was way outside the norm of what I’ve experienced in the past.” “Had you ever encountered that before?” news anchor Jim Axelrod asked following Shapley’s comments. “I have not, no,”

Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis raised a ton of money for his blowout re-election victory in 2022 — and the leftovers are set to give a head start to the massive super PAC boosting his 2024 presidential campaign. The governor's state political committee, Friends of Ron DeSantis, had at least $86 million in the bank at the end of April. That money can't simply transfer into DeSantis' presidential campaign — Federal Election Commission rules state that “a candidate’s authorized (federal) committee may not accept funds or assets transferred from a committee established by the same candidate for a nonfederal election campaign.”

While I was flying a plane somewhere over the mid-west this evening, Ron DeSantis finally made his much-anticipated presidential campaign announcement. Unfortunately, we’ve got no in-flight internet on our birds, so I’m disconnected when I’m up there and missed out on all the initial fireworks. But from what I can gather, DeSantis demanded so much attention that he broke Twitter for about 20 minutes before he and Elon Musk were able to continue their Twitter Spaces conversation. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., slammed the Supreme Court's ruling Thursday that limited the Environmental Protection Agency's ability to regulate bodies of water, calling it a "MAGA" court even though the decision was 9-0. On Thursday, the high court issued an opinion that narrowed the EPA's broad definition of Waters of the United States (WOTUS). The court said the federal government must define WOTUS as a water source with a "continuous surface connection" to major bodies of water. The decision upended an attempt by the Biden administration to regulate wetlands, lakes, ponds, streams and other "relatively permanent" waterways, which had relied on a broad reading of the EPA's authority

A week ago Wednesday before the controversy erupted, Target’s stock closed at $160.96 a share, giving the big-box chain a market capitalization of $74.3 billion. As of early trading on Thursday, however, shares of the company were trading off 1% at $141.76 — capping a weeklong tumble that has shrunk the “cheap chic” discount retailer’s value to $65.3 billion. That amounts to a 12% drop that has shaved a whopping $9 billion off the company’s market capitalization.

The current reports of executive branch illegality make Watergate look like kindergarten mischief. It is clear from the Durham report and the work of House Republican hearings that the current scandals in the Biden White House – and senior bureaucracies at the Justice Department, IRS, and elsewhere – are much deeper and more cancerous than Watergate ever was. It may be hard to remember, but Watergate came about due to a weird, dumb, and fairly narrow set of criminal behaviors which mushroomed into 69 officials being indicted and 48 imprisoned. I remember Watergate vividly, because I first ran for Congress in 1974 during the Watergate scandal.
