Florida governor Ron DeSantis said Thursday that he would look into pardoning many of the January 6 rioters who have been convicted of federal offenses if he were elected president. During an appearance on the Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show one day after he formally entered the 2024 presidential race, the newly minted presidential candidate was asked whether he would consider pardoning January 6 defendants, including former president Donald Trump, who is being investigated for his role on January 6. “And so what I’m going to do is on Day One, I will have folks that will get together and look at all these cases [where] people are victims

No. Ron. Either you will or you won’t. There is no “consider.” That’s Washington-speak dithering. You will have to do better than that.

If you ask me, Ron is leading a “me too” campaign. Seriously, are Trump and DeSantis that far apart on most issues? Seems that the only difference is who is backing them and that says everything to me. Trumps knows and respects his base and it is returned. DeSantis is playing to the donor class. Now who will stand with the people when times get tough? I think we know the answer to that. I honestly cannot understand why DeSantis made this decision. He could have had it all with just a little loyalty and patience.

On Thursday, Florida Governor and Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis said he would welcome a bill to defund the IRS. DeSantis made the comments to Dana Loesch, a Second Amendment advocate and host of The Dana Show. During the interview, Loesch questioned DeSantis on his position regarding federal taxation, asking: If Congress defunded the IRS and sent such a bill like that to your desk, number one: Would you sign it? And then what would you replace the system with? Are you for a fair tax? A flat tax? Where do you stand on that?

At the heart of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s recent troubles is that he used his office to help a political donor — Austin real estate investor Nate Paul — in exchange for allegedly helping the attorney general remodel his home and giving Paxton’s mistress a job in his company. According to thedailybeast.com, “Paxton reportedly acknowledged the affair with the woman, who worked as an aide to a Texas state senator, to his staff in 2018 and said he had ended it.” Paul has denied that his hiring of the woman was as a favor to Paxton. Resignations of seven senior members of Paxton’s staff followed, accusing their boss

Top leaders in both parties reached a long-sought deal on Saturday to avoid an unprecedented government default, announcing an agreement on a plan to lift the debt ceiling immediately and apply new caps on federal spending in the name of curbing deficits, according to sources familiar. To get there, negotiators had to iron out their differences on a small but crucial list of outstanding issues that had dogged the talks in recent days, including lower spending levels, new work requirements for social benefit programs and permitting reforms to expedite approval of energy infrastructure projects — three Republican demands that were opposed by most Democrats.

The Texas state House voted to impeach GOP state Attorney General Ken Paxton by a vote of 121-23 on Saturday, setting up the possibility that he could be removed from office. A conservative warrior in the courts, Paxton has been the subject of high-profile headlines recently that talked about his lawsuits against the Biden administration. More recently, however, the AG seems to have fallen from grace within his own party, as a Republican led panel in the state House approved 20 impeachment articles against him this week. Investigators accused Paxton of a number of misdoings. Among them is an alleged attempt to hide an affair, misusing

And if they did, will anyone from the Washington Post face charges over it? Readers might remember this stunt from a month ago at the National Gallery of Art, in which climate-change protesters vandalized a display of an Edgar Degas sculpture. Fortunately, the Washington Post just happened to have a reporter and a photographer on scene that day to capture the crime and its aftermath: Protesters smeared black and red paint on the case and pedestal of Edgar Degas’s “Little Dancer Aged Fourteen” sculpture at the National Gallery of Art in D.C. on Thursday to bring attention to the climate crisis and demand that President Biden declare a climate emergency.

Joe Biden doesn’t seem to give a darn about debt negotiations or our economic status. First, he refused to even talk with Republicans for 97 days. But since he has been talking, he doesn’t want to cut anything, he just wants to keep spending us into the poor house. He’s completely in the thrall of the leftist wing of his party and they don’t want him to agree with the Republicans. Unfortunately for the Democrats, Americans want cuts and they see Joe Biden as the obstacle here. The Republicans already passed a bill, it’s Biden who isn’t getting it done and Americans see it.
