Scientists Urged to Aid ‘Rights of Nature’

Original Article

The major science journals are growing increasingly hard left politically. The prestigious journal Science, in particular, has swallowed progressive ideology–including supporting the “nature rights” movement. The rights of nature–which include geological features–are generally defined as the right to “exist, persist, maintain and regenerate its vital cycles, structure, functions and its processes in evolution.” Nature is, of course, not sentient. So, this campaign is really about granting environmental extremists legal standing to enforce their policy desires through litigation as legal guardians serving nature’s best interests. But the movement has a problem. It is clearly ideological rather than rational. So now, three law professors and a biologist

Comments:

The left knows how to fight for domination on multiple fronts while the right can't get its act together on more than two or three.. They are active; we are reactive.Who besides Wesley Smith even knows about this particular sick and potentially tyrannical stuff?

I have been saying this for years especially about Science magazine. All the articles are left tilting all the subjects they choose to review are left subjects like climate change, which doesn't exist by the way. All the stories they tell on the back page are about oppression and overcoming and lgbtq and very little about science. I can't help it but I begin to suspect the data and the articles which means it is all for nothing. The Distortion of the Hippocratic Oath is just one example in the water scientific world.

Everything is about "rights." The "right" to health care, shelter, reparations, whatever. A "right" is an entitlement, and mostly entitles its proponents to be self-righteous bullies who presume to silence dissent and (always) disregard any contrarian information or logic. "Rights" have become the go-to, approving stamp of passion. That is, if you care enough about something or other, it will be a "right," and you battle against reprobates who are against "rights." Lord have mercy on us, because these self-righteous crusaders will not.

So inanimate objects will have a right to life, but not human beings? This cadre of miscreants is both intellectually and morally bankrupt.

My position is and always has been that we as the human masters of this planet have an obligation to not abuse it. The planet ultimately belongs to G_d. We should where ever possible and practical protect, conserve and restore the environment. I for example, will not clear all of my land, because my land provides habitat for animals. I'm judicious in my use of chemicals so as to not damage the environment. What I object to is arbitrary mandatory Diktats from government and being forced to pay higher prices that will have little or no environmental impact. Or being forced to adopt unproven technologies that cause more environmental devastation than current proven technologies.

"Nature" is not a being, not a thing, and cannot, even conceptually, have "rights". I urge anyone who wants to see where this may be headed, or has already been, to read Tom Clancy's 1998 "thriller" novel "Rainbow Six".

More consequences from a society that has rejected God. Each citizen has now become its own god, and as such feels obligated and entitled to rule over Nature, herself. Nature needs no protection from humans and can shrug off thousands of them at a moment’s notice. Nature is not the left’s next victim to be championed with ribbons, bumper stickers, social media profile pictures and proselytization. It is not interested in us and does not have human emotion. It is neither cruel nor benevolent. It just is, and as such, it needs to be respected and left alone. Be good stewards, yes, but realize YOU are not in control here. Lord, but I despise the left.

The number one right in nature is to destroy something to take it's resources. Number two is to defend and retaliate. Otherwise, nature just blindly moves energy around. God gives nature purpose and direction.

Bethany Sanidad, a mom from Ohio, credits LifeWise Academy with changing her son Christian’s life—and by extension her whole family’s outlook on faith. (Snip) LifeWise Academy is a Bible-based program that offers public school students religious instruction during the school day. It is growing not just in Ohio but also communities across the country. Under the direction of founder and CEO Joel Penton, a college football national champion and motivational speaker, nearly 14,000 students are benefiting from the program. But how is it possible for students in public school systems to receive religious instruction during school hours? Penton is often asked the question, and just wrote a new book,

If, in 1984, an inventive New Yorker set his time travel machine to the year 2023, the city in which he arrived would confound him. Although the New York City of today looks much like that of 1984, our time traveler would have a hard time understanding the people, almost as hard a time as H.G. Wells's "Time Traveler" did when his machine arrived in the year 802,701. The public response of the average New Yorker to the arrest of former Marine sergeant Daniel Penny calls to mind the "Eloi" response to Wells's Traveler. The Eloi were the little, pretty people of the future whom the Time Traveler encountered.

"The politics of depression: Diverging trends in internalizing symptoms among US adolescents by political beliefs," was published in the journal Social Science & Medicine – Mental Health in December and while its findings were striking, the reason behind the trend is unclear. Epidemiologist Catherine Gimbrone and her coauthors compared depressive attitudes of 12th-graders from 2005 to 2018 between those aligned with conservatism, which was defined in the study as "support of individual liberty, right-wing social and religious values, and unregulated free markets" and liberalism, which was defined as "support of equal

To begin: freedom of speech is not a "God-given" right; no rights really are. We may hold certain rights to be "self-evident," but that is simply a comforting fiction derived from the American Revolution. Rights must be taken, not given and, once won, any attempt to nullify them must be resisted by (in the Communist Left's favorite phrase) "any means necessary." My friend and colleague, Dr. Maryanne Demasi has been studying the use of statins for years. She just had her meta analysis published in "JAMA Internal Medicine." This is an extremely important paper.(snip)The public health mantra about cholesterol has always been “the lower, the better.” This has been reflected in expert guidelines which have called on doctors to aggressively lower their patient’s ‘bad’ LDL-cholesterol (LDL-C) with statin drugs to prevent heart disease. However, our new analysis published in JAMA Internal Medicine (paywalled) challenges that notion. Over the years, influential researchers such as the Cholesterol Treatment Trialists (CTT) at Oxford University, have monopolised the scientific debate on statins. But there are three problems with the various CTT analyses:

Under the plan, at least half of that amount will be conserved by 2025.

The modern Senate has unique corrupt interests that are specific to the upper chamber, and those interests must be defended from any possibility of diminished influence. A recent CNN headline — "We don't have enough doctors" — is quite accurate. The explanation given for the M.D. shortage is completely wrong. CNN notes the "health-care workforce shortage is 'more acute' in Black and brown communities." The black community represents 13 percent of the U.S. population, but only 5.7 percent of American physicians are black. The implication is clear: only black doctors should or can treat black patients or, at a minimum, will treat them properly. This is racist dogma.
