Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are “extremely upset and shaken” after being involved in a “near-catastrophic” two-hour paparazzi chase in New York City on Tuesday night.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who were traveling with Markle’s mom, Doria Ragland, were pursued by photographers after leaving the Ziegfeld Theater — where the former actress was honored by Gloria Steinem at the Women of Vision Awards — in Manhattan.
The trio left the event in an SUV around 10 p.m., and were immediately followed by around 12 paparazzi, we’re told.
They eventually decided to ditch their original vehicle and jump into a yellow cab in hopes of evading photogs, a source claims.

That's not what the NYPD said.
"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived at their destination and there were no reported collisions, summonses, injuries, or arrests in regard.”

What a load of BullShiff. How fast can a driver go in NY city. 2 miles an hour?
I woukd say if they were walking they might be in danger. Or. On the subway. But not in NY city traffic.

The NYC cops escorted them the whole way, and the police deny there was anything but "a little confusion" (that was Megan changing in the back seat into a paratrooper outfit).

The poor exiled Prinz of Hairy and the Harpy Wife are both on the diminished capacity struggle bus, headed round the bend. I'll wager that Grandmom Camilla Parker Bowles Windsor would be ''honored'' to help raise the little non-titled offspring since they are STILL kin to the current King and the Next One.

Baloney. Just another way to get a photo spread for her and her mother and trumpet her award, not to mention a tasteless reminder of the accident that caused Princess Diana. Markle will never be Diana if she lives to be 100. heaven forbid.

If my mom had died being chased by photographers, I’d probably not run away from them. It’s just pictures. But that’s just me.

Harry's been in the UK news concerning who will pay for his security (I think in the UK but possibly here too). Then last night he allegedly has a close call, one that could have been avoided if he'd had security fit for a king. Gee, what a coincidence.

Nutmeg needed more attention since the coronation when Harry was a nothingburger back in England. If she’s still trying to be Princess Diana, it didn’t work. She was young, innocent when she married Prince Charles, and well liked. Nutty is just a flake seeking the spotlight.

To suggest coloring some of us skeptical about the reality and/or the “happenstance” of this “near-fatal” event would be a gross understatement. An apology is extended in advance if all of it is true, but to tout this event as coincidental or as dangerous as the pursuit of Princess Diana is a stretch too far--most especially her fatal pursuit.
Connect the dots. Meghan and Harry have retained a U. S. Public Relations team. Meghan was not seen during the time Prince Harry’s book “Spare” was released and, according to some sources, she did not “surface” until four months later, just before the coronation of King Charles III. Prince Harry has been at odds with the British government about security and financing for his family since they relocated to California in 2020 to the point of legal recourse.
The “sources” cited for this “near-catastrophic” event include: “The insider alleges – we hear - A rep for the Sussexes claimed to Page Six – Our source – the source.” At this point, the New York Police Department has not provided “immediate comment to describe or corroborate the royals’ statement about the incident.”
According to an article in the Washington Post, the cab driver said he “wouldn’t call it a chase and he felt safe during the ride.” Further, he said the street was blocked by a garbage truck and that’s why they were stopped and it was then the photographers got pictures.
Meghan Kelly bluntly stated that having lived in Manhattan for 17 years, it is not possible to have a two-hour chase there due to too many street lights, stop signs, foot and vehicular traffic; that in two hours they could have made it halfway through Long Island.
Connecting dots, color some of us more than skeptical.

Good thing they didn't drive through any tunnels! The accident opportunities and publicity would get them all of the attention that hey crave. Guess they did not have time to set that up.

Do what I do when somebody rides my bumper. 15 MPH usually makes them go around. They don't wait too long to go by me either.

OP, I'm with you! My very first thought when I saw the headline was,. "I wonder how much they paid the paparazzi to chase them for this 'Diana moment'?!" And seriously, why now? They've been living over here for 2 years now. I think it is, and nobody's chased them previously. Why now? These people are ridiculous. The fact is, nobody cares what they do.

Popeye Doyle (Gene Hackman) in The French Connection, pursuing a killer in a NYC train on an elevated track, chased the train on a street underneath the tracks. Actor and stunt driver Bill Hickman did most of the driving, which was crazy driving only a talented professional could do. You might remember Hickman in Bullitt as the driver of the black Dodge Charger in the famous chase scene with McQueen's Mustang, and in another long car chase in 1973's The Seven Ups (with Roy Scheider). Hickman knew what he was doing behind the wheel, but I can't imagine all those near misses and outright crashes (driving for Hackman) didn't take a full day of filming. But that was just a movie, not real. Are the Duke and Duchess for real? No evidence of that yet. The world's a dangerous place for you and me, but not for them. As I said earlier, Henri Paul's not around to steer them into a concrete abutment at 96 miles per hour.

Nowhere in the article does it state how fast their car was driving. Why not? If their driver was speeding to avoid photographers, why did he simply not slow down to avoid a possible accident? Also, notice there were multiple other vehicles who avoided 'near collisions' - this being added to the story to bolster the apparent danger to the royal nobody's. This is just one pretentious made up story to elicit sympathy. When expected attention doesn't come your way you invent it.

Harry and Megan's and her mom's reaction is actually pretty funny. Yo, Harry, Meggie and whatever your mom's name is, what you experienced is a typical car ride through the streets of Manhattan that New Yorkers experience every day. If you don't like the action, stay outta NY or grow a pair.

Diana wannabes. They were safe because an inebriated Henri Paul wasn't driving them around in a Mercedes-Bends, for goodness sake.
