Republican Ohio Senate candidate Bernie Moreno said that the country should consider paying reparations to the descendants of white Union Soldiers that fought in the Civil War. Moreno, who immigrated from Colombia, ran a series of successful car dealerships and aspires to face Sherrod Brown in the 2024 Ohio Senate race. Moreno previously ran in the 2022 GOP Ohio Senate primary in which he endorsed former President Trump’s claim that the 2020 U.S. Presidential Election was stolen.

Comments:

During the Civil War my ancestors were in the Union Army, the Confederate Army, and some were hiding in the woods waiting for it to blow over. But since I wasn't there why should I get money?

I had several relatives on the union side, and I would never ask for reparations because of the utter shame I feel knowing some of my blood fought for the yankees. I sure wouldn't want to apply for it in writing.

What is that gesture the Italians use where they swipe you chin with a thumb as a sign you've been had? Is there a name for that? Seems to apply here.

I had three g grandfathers and four gg uncles who fought for the South and one who fought for the North. Nobody is owed reparations for anything that happened 160 years ago. LOL #1. I feel the same way.

All reparations should be paid by the Dim party, since that existing organization is responsible for slavery and the Civil War. Descendants of all who fought in the civil war should get huge reparations since that huge injustice was visited on them by the Dim party.

Nobody, black or white, should be able to get reparations for whatever happened in the past. This is past history, period, and we should let it go as that.

Over 1/3 of my family tree was "Pruned" in that war, every male member over the age of 15 volunteered and fought, several died, in combat, from disease, several more came home missing arms, legs, eyes, lungshot and weak forever after, the survivors and the "youngsters" spent the rest of their lives supporting the wives and children of their brothers and cousins...trapping them forever into a hard working and impoverished life. My most direct relatives, two brothers both were officers leading "Colored Troops", they paid from their own pockets for boots, clothes, weapons and food for their men, as well as convincing a young Doctor acquaintance to serve with them as well. It wasn't until after WW1, when two more brothers went and served in France...that the 1st of the family went to college, and became doctors...and no longer needed to work from can see to can't. I don't want reparations, but a thank you would be nice. Certainly no DEMANDS from someone descended from those that never fought to free themselves. Unless those kvetching are descended from the victors of the slave revolts in the caribbean? Their families paid no price getting free, just reaped the benefits of someone else's sacrifice. If their generations since wasted that freedom and opportunity? It ain't on anyone else, thy should have listened to Booker T, not WEB.

Not a bad tactic. Whenever a Dem shouts for reparations, jump on the bandwagon and shout for reparations for your favorite group of people. Reparations for all until everyone realizes how stupid the concept is.

ATLANTA — Hundreds of activists breached the site of a proposed police and fire training center in Atlanta’s wooded outskirts on Sunday, burning police and construction vehicles and a trailer, and setting off fireworks at officers stationed nearby. The destruction occurred on the second day of what is supposed to be a weeklong series of demonstrations to protest what the activists have derided as Cop City, a planned 85-acre campus owned by the city.

Monday night’s debate in Atlanta, the lone time during this year’s campaign for Georgia governor that the candidates were scheduled to appear onstage together, was a demonstration of the political animus the two have had toward each other. Both Mr. Kemp and Ms. Abrams came versed in the other’s record — Ms. Abrams on Mr. Kemp’s tenure as governor (and, before that,

Fulton County’s district attorney will pick a special grand jury Monday to investigate allegations former President Donald Trump criminally interfered with Georgia’s elections in 2020. The grand jury is an unusual kind of one because it doesn’t indict, it just investigates. It will be investigating the now-infamous phone call between Trump and Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. “So look, all I want to do is just, I want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have, because we won the state,” Trump said during that call to Raffensperger.

DECATUR, Ga. (CBS46) - A DeKalb County commission candidate is being criticized for using what some are calling a racially-insensitive phrase. It’s costing her a major endorsement just weeks before the primary. “It’s hard right now to even find law enforcement. One of my clients -- I’m actually doing an American Rescue Plan project in a municipality. Prior to the ‘racial uprisings,’ they would get roughly about a hundred applications,” said Democratic candidate Michelle Long Spears on April 19 at a forum.

But here in April 2023, the GOP one has already descended into a disgusting spiral of lies and insanity — because of the increasingly disordered and amateurish Donald Trump campaign. Trump has a clear lane in the primary. He has a record of accomplishment as president; he led the country to prosperity that has since sharply declined; he exposes the politicization and corruption of our government agencies when he’s personally targeted by leftist activist district attorneys like Alvin Bragg and when he is the subject of a baseless search for documents at his home.
