"Real Time" host Bill Maher kicked off his panel discussion Friday night by arguing against bringing criminal charges against former President Donald Trump, specifically for the alleged crimes from the Manhattan probe. "I really don't want to give Donald Trump the satisfaction of talking about him," Maher chuckled as he began the conversation. "I thought when he was gone, he'd be gone a little bit. But, you know, there is an ex-president out there now who's going to be arrested — possibly. And he is talking about violence in the streets of his supporters if he does." He continued: "I just would like to go on record in saying

He is right. Trump knows it (and hopes for it) and I think Bragg has woken up as well. As worthless as he is shamelessly political, the DA appears to have realized he has no case and delayed proceedings to milk this failure a long as possible.

#4, There never was a case, and the prosecutor knew that. This was to be wholly a political spectacle to collapse FPDT's general support to prevent another run in '24. To keep the Fed's clean, NY would do the dirty work using a grand jury, where a ham sandwich could be indicted. Trump masterfully blew the scheme up by "expecting" to be arrested, which unleashed the furies in the media and the public. It offered his surrogates an opportunity to attack his (potential) '24 opponents. And it closed off any defections from MAGA Nation as a result. The big winner in this is FPDT, by a country mile.

I have no problems with indicting, charging, arresting and trying an ex-president for an actual crime for which there is evidence. The fevered rantings of star witnesses isn't evidence. Where you completely lose me is when you make a public spectacle and over charge for purely partisan political reasons, for a "crime" that's normally handled with a fine. The reason that this "may" work in Trump's favor is because this is a partisan political witch hunt, and anyone with an IQ higher than Joy Behr or Whoopi Goldberg knows it.

Notice that even Maher says he is sure Trump has done bad "things" but notice that just like all his fellow trraverlers, he never says what those bad things are. Please list. I am sick of hearing about the bad "things". As far as I can see Cohen paid Stormy to keep her mouth shut during the campaign seaseon out of his own pocket and Stormy herself has denied on many occasions that there ever was an affair. As far as I can see, Cohen thought, and rightly so, that the democrats would try to make something out of the fact that Trump knew a porn star. Big deal. Now the real question here is how does anyone with a lick of common sense think that a germaphobe like Mr Trump is ever going to get involved on an intimate level with a porn star? Let's think about it folks yes, think for a change, The infamous pee tape??? Would a germaphobe (think Mr Monk if you have no imagination) ever be involved in such a thing. I THINK NOT. Common sense is what we really need a very large dose of. It might just help to cure this obssession that the democrats have for the boyfriend who left them for the girl next door. Common sense tells you that a man who has made billions building hotels and casinos around the world and who reads every contract put before him is going to do everything possible to keep his so called skirts clean before he runs for President. Just think for a change. And always ask for specifics when someone tells you that he is absolutely sure the man is guilty. At least have the courage to ask "what is he guilty of?", "what crime has been committed?". Simple questions. Get answers.

During an interview with Sean Hannity in 2018 regarding payment to Stormy Daniels, Rudy Giuliani explained that Michael Cohen had funds at his disposal not linked to campaign funds to make payments without President Trump knowing what was being paid out to whom or why. A letter written in 2018 by Michel Cohen’s lawyer to the Federal Election Commission said President Trump “had no involvement in the payment made to Stormy Daniels to keep her quiet about their alleged affair. Furthermore, it states that the payment was not reimbursed by Trump.” That, “In a private transaction in 2016, before the U.S. presidential election, Mr. Cohen used his own personal funds to facilitate a payment of $130,000 to Ms. Stephanie Clifford [Stormy Daniels]. Neither the Trump Organization nor the Trump campaign was a party to the transaction with Ms. Clifford, and neither reimbursed Mr. Cohen for the payment directly or indirectly.” A news article written March 23, 2023 included text of a letter written by Stormy Daniels denying the affair because it never happened. As informational, men of stature and wealth are often “schooled” in the realm of personal safety which can include admonishment of becoming involved in situations with women that could evolve into scandals that might otherwise be avoided. With this perspective, it is not very likely that a man like Donald Trump would become involved with a “woman of the night” when it is very likely that he had, or would have, a bevy of other women throwing themselves at him. To become involved with a “woman of the night” could bring about far more devastating and sensational destruction than involvement with other women.

Not necessarily. Watching Trump urge his loyal followers to come out en masse if he gets arrested is great for him and his ego, but also sets the stage for another accusation of a Jan. 6th riot. And posing with a baseball bat doesn't help. I was a Trump supporter, loved a lot of what he did, but it is all about The Donald now and I am positive that he will cause chaos if he doesn't get the nomination and will form a 3rd Party to sink us with another Democratic Leftist President. People who without question follow his every "suggestion" also can't give a damn about the USA, which is circling the drain....the only thing Biden did that surprises me (helped by the Press and social media of course) is to destroy almost every aspect of our country in 2 1/2 years.

Trump states there will be violence, as he knows someone will act up. Some people are just stupid, or they're prodded by the Progressive Democrats to agitate the crowd (the ruckus in NY City the other day as examples). Trump shouldn't say it though, as the should know how the press will spin it, which is what happened. I'm really disappointed he does not seem to have learned how to stop running his mouth in irresponsible ways, and become more disciplined as a candidate, which he is since he declared his candidacy for POTUS. I love his tenacity and the ability to see things other don't see, but he needs to be more controlled. He simply wants to fix things, and that's one reason they hate him so much - he can't resolve the problems or it makes them all look stupid for not being able to accomplish it. The goal of Democrats is always to build a massive government program to "address" an issue (they never say their going to fix a problem), but they truly never want to fix anything because the real objective is to use that issue to further grow government which they see as helping them get re-elected. The people who get the government job will vote for them, likely their families to, and the people who get the crumbs of what's left of the budget will vote for them to maintain those payments, or benefit, they are receiving.

North Carolina-based First Citizens Bank and Trust has purchased Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), the tech industry favorite that collapsed earlier this month amidst an historic bank run. The agreement involves the sale of all deposits and loans of SVB to First-Citizens, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) said in a statement late Sunday night. AP reports customers of SVB automatically will become customers of First Citizens, which is headquartered in Raleigh. The 17 former branches of SVB will open as First Citizens branches when business begins Monday. Regulators shut Silicon Valley down on March 10 when it had about $167 billion in total assets and roughly $119 billion in deposits.

I haven’t followed the January 6 prosecutions as closely as I probably should have. I thought it was obvious that the Capitol riot was the most overblown story of modern times. The idea that the protesters who entered the Capitol (mostly peacefully, as far as I could see, more or less invited in by Capitol guards) were mounting an “insurrection” was and is absurd, given that not a single one of them brought a firearm, and they made no attempt to harm anyone inside the Capitol. Some insurrection! A big trial is now going on in Washington–the biggest, as I understand it
