Idaho Gov. Brad Little signed legislation into law on Friday that added firing squads as an alternative method of execution for the state’s death-row inmates.
The bill—dubbed House Bill 186—stipulates that the form of capital punishment will only be used if the state is unable to obtain the drugs needed to perform lethal injections.
“I have not given up on the state’s ability to require the chemicals,” Little wrote in a transmittal letter (pdf) after signing the bill. “And, I believe the bill I signed into law last year helped expand options that would not have been available without it.”

Nitrogen gas chamber. Kills without any negative effects. A coworker who got into a nitrogen filled large tank, just passed out. He was pulled out, recovered fully, said he just "blinked out, no warning".
Cheap, harmless in small amounts, since normal air is 78% nitrogen.
No muss, no fuss, cheap and safe for staff.

Quickest and most efficient way to apply the death penalty. Eight to ten sharpshooters with high caliber, half loaded with bullets and half loaded with blanks. Four or five rounds into the heart will stop it immediately and the brain will never know what killed it.

After reading about botched lethal injection executions, a firing squad might be the more humane option.

This lethal injection business should be abandoned entirely. Too much risk of error or prolonged process. With a firing squad results are instant and certain.
...And please, no macabre games with blank rounds, Several volunteer law enforcement sharpshooters with live rounds will do the job.

FTA...'President Joe Biden, meanwhile, is the first sitting U.S. president in American history to openly and publicly oppose the death penalty and advocate its abolition.'
Actually, he is opposed to death row but is openly and publicly for death roe.

Albert Pierrepoint, the Crown's hangman, could hang a criminals in 10 seconds, dropping them into the arms of Jesus, you might say. And, for greenies out there, the rope could be recycled for later use.

This is an excellent development however, for the Daybells I prefer the Braveheart-type of execution. But even that would not atone for what they do to those children.

That is an oxymoron if there ever was one,”a humane death penalty”!

No oxymoron, # 9. If someone is convicted of a crime which merits the death penalty, and all reasonable appeals are exhausted, then he or she should be put to death in the most rapid and pain free way possible. After all, he or she was sentenced to death, not unnecessary torture.
So, where is the oxymoron?

I'm all for giving the convicted murderer a choice on how to check out.
But we need more variety.
I would like the Axe man 2B one along with the snake pit.

Rather see murderers killed the same way as their victims.

I hope they use 22 shorts and they aim at his gonads. I want the monster to experience pain before he descends into Hades.

I often wonder how many people would volunteer to be part of a firing squad.
Not sure anyone could do it more than a few times.

My version of a firing squad. Strap the perp to a chair with a hood on. A sharpshooter takes aim and pops a round off into the perp's head. No muss no fuss.

A believer in the death penalty, the governor will not be stopped by inability to get lethal injection chemicals. Thus the man who slaughtered the four students in their beds may get his just deserts.
