After a 30-year career in education, 52-year-old Mari Stevens said she knew it was time to leave the classroom. Stevens, who last taught in the Issaquah School District, is not alone in putting in her resignation. According to an analysis of Washington state data by the Calder Center, more teachers left the classroom in the past school year than at any point in the past three decades. Washington state teacher attrition rates and teacher turnover overall, according to the analysis, are now at historic highs. The teacher attrition rate in 2022 was 8.91%

They will fix this by doubling wages and cutting workload in half as recommended by the Union.

OK - I get that teachers are unhappy, but there isn't a lot of detail on why.

I believe that i can figure out why they are leaving. Basically the same reason that Police are leaving their jobs. Discipline, disrespect, violence and being committed to a job that is doomed to failure.

Many teachers don't realized how they are being cheated. First, all government schools prevent any competition for their services. Secondly, they do not own the money they contribute to their pensions. They only receive a government determined amount for their life time. And many think those unions are there for them. Really? How does having another 2-5% reduction in your salary for union dues a benefit? Then, it really must be a joy to go to work where you have no authority, the administration thinks you need equity, diversity, and racial training, and the students all have cellphones to video and record anything you do. All this is a very bad deal. I don't know how they can find anyone to take it.

Maybe consider working at a Charter School, Parochial school, or organize a home schooling business. The upside of going non government school is that the students who are broken toys usually don't stick around, the down side (maybe for this "teacher"), is these types of schools are competitive in their hiring.

Of course they're leaving. After two years of being paid to stay home, take vacations, occasionally having to picket, and look concerned into the cameras saying "It's for the children", you really expect they are going to work, work.

Why would dedicated ethical teachers stay and compromise their own personal standards to the invasive woke gang, various other predators and what all, when as America's true educators' dedication is totally focused upon kugiving their very best in order to supply each child with the education they need. Teachers should educate, not be forced to indoctrinate!

In 1973 I taught for one year. Worse year of my life. No trans issues but even though 50% of the students failed I was told to hold back only 3% ,just enough to give summer school teachers work. Seems things have only gotten worse.

When Constantinople finally fell to the Ottomans on Tuesday, May 29, 1453, the Byzantine Empire and its capital had up to that point survived for 1,000 years beyond the fall of the Western Empire at Rome. Always outnumbered in a sea of enemies, the Byzantines' survival had depended on its realist diplomacy of dividing its enemies, avoiding military quagmires, and ensuring constant deterrence. Generations of self-sacrifice ensured ample investment for infrastructure. Each generation inherited and improved on singular aqueducts and cisterns, sewer systems, and the most complex and formidable city fortifications in the world.

Polish President Andrzej Duda said the nation is set to hand over PolSoviet-made MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine in coming days. "In the coming days we will first transfer, if I remember correctly, four fully operational planes to Ukraine," Duda told a news conference in Warsaw. Duda said that Poland's air force would replace the planes it gives to Kyiv with South Korean-made FA-50 jets and American-made F-35s. The transfer would make Poland the first NATO member to have delivered the fighter jets, as Kyiv appeals for warplanes to fight Russian forces.

A young Dutch political party seeking to push back on the government's climate agenda achieved a stunning victory Wednesday as it won the most seats for a single party in the Dutch Senate. "This isn't normal, but actually it is! It's all normal citizens who voted," party leader Caroline van der Plas said. "But today people have shown they can't stay at home any longer. We won't be ignored anymore." The Farmer-Citizen Movement Party, known as BoerBurgerBeweging (BBB) in Dutch, built its victory on the back of protests against the government’s environmental policies, which aim to slash nitrogen emissions by dramatically cutting back on livestock numbers and buying out

It was in keeping with similar measures approved in recent years in cities around the country to defund the police, reduce cash bail, and eliminate penalties for minor crimes like shoplifting and drug possession. The rules, approved by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, are meant to reduce air pollution from some of the worst home-appliance offenders.
