The Many Lies of the Housing Crisis Alarmists

Under the rallying cry of a housing crisis in the New York metropolitan area, politicians have begun a double-barreled assault against affluent suburban communities (snip) New York governor Kathy Hochul unleashed her New York Housing Compact for 800,000 new units over ten years. (snip) These efforts are based on the premise that there is a housing crisis created by restrictive suburban zoning laws. This is risible, given regional population and construction trends. Between July 1, 2020 and July 1, 2022, New York had a net migration loss of 651,742 individuals, or 3.24% of the population. Connecticut's population is flat, and New Jersey's annual loss is about 1%.

Well we have been told that one of the big reasons that Biden is in the White House is because a lot of women residing in affluent suburban communities voted for him. The current out of control borderline and the millions of illegal aliens who have been allowed to unlawfully enter the USA in violation of the immigration laws is all on Biden and the leftist and socialist Democrats and their “open borders” policies. One day those women are going to wake up and find that their school systems are being loaded up with academically deficient illegal alien youth at tremendous expense to local taxpayers, including themselves. In that respect it will not be out of the ordinary to find 18 or 19 year old criminal street gang affiliated male illegal aliens who only speak rudimentary English if at all, sitting in the same classes as their 13 or 14 year old teeny bopper girls. Those supposed Biden supporting suburban women can then use their imagination to figure out how many of those teenage relationships will go from there.

One big problem is that affordable neighborhoods are usually dangerous. Violent crime, drug dealing, and noisy neighbors makes living there untenable. Residents have few options.

But. but - all those section 8 folks will be so impressed by the good housing and luxury lifestyles of their neighbors, they will magically be transformed themselves. Not that they own an alarm clock to go to work everyday - but Magic! But why put them next to working class fools? Put them in Chappaquiddick, Deleware, and wherever John Kerry resides. Put them in mansions and on Miricle Miles. You want 'em - you house 'em.

Yep. A serious encroachment on community and private rights. Yep…those pushing it do not see the housing stock damage of their own community rules, not do they foresee the changes coming in their communities. AND, building mountains of 500 sq foot apartments in bedroom communities is another recipe for a dysfunctional future

My town is building "affordable" senior housing units all over town. I can't believe there are that many seniors on the edge financially. I'll bet most complexes will turn into welfare housing shortly, and all the people around them will be shocked at the increase in crime.

In recent days, Tucker Carlson presented facts about occurrences on January 6th, 2021, in and around the Capitol building that debunked the spurious Democrat narrative of a “deadly insurrection” by Trump supporters. The “deadly insurrection” claim was and is being used to target civilians and subject them to draconian punishment when the severest penalty they actually deserved for their actions on January 6th was a small fine or community service. (snip) Exploiting voters’ fear by peddling the “insurrection” narrative and claiming Trump will be a dictator is the only way the Democrats can secure votes. If the insurrection is debunked, they have nothing.

I know, I know; National Review is still the outfit that published the infamous “Against Trump” issue as a last ditch effort to foil the successful 2016 candidacy that led to four years of peace, prosperity, low inflation, and disproportionate gains for the lower end of the income scale under President Trump. But still, it comes as a bit of a shock (snip) There is no hint that NR is bothered by the suppression of video evidence denied to defendants in trials for the J6 incident. Why, there’s plenty enough already available.

It's crude, rough, wartime justice, a picture of South Vietnamese Police Captain Nguyễn Ngọc Loan coldly executing Viet Cong Captain Nguyễn Văn Lém. In one of his monologues last week, Tucker Carlson called Merrick Garland “the weakest attorney general” in American history. Tucker added, “Merrick Garland has presided over the most aggressive attack on civil liberties, in particular, an attack on the practice of traditional Christianity, than any living American has seen.” (snip) After highlighting these gross injustices against American Christians, Tucker makes what I believe is his most important point: You have to wonder when you see a tape like that, where are so-called Christian leaders? Where’s Russell Moore and all the other breast-beating Christians as that happens, as the U.S. government cracks down on Christianity, on prayer? Silent.

Last week, Tucker Carlson had a brief segment about the leaked FBI memo recommending surveillance of traditional Catholics as potential domestic terrorists. The contents of the memo became widely known only because of a fearless FBI whistleblower assigned to the relatively small Richmond, Va. district office. (snip) Michael Matt's media organization is the best known of the so-called traditional Catholic domestic "terrorist" groups named on the SPLC's list. You can tell that the progs who have monopolized late night comedy are scared out of their wits by the triumph of Gutfeld!, the Fox News competitor that has grabbed ratings leadership, despite a visibly smaller production budget and distribution lacking free broadcast TV stations. When it was announced that a promo video for the show would air during the Super Bowl, heads figuratively exploded. They know that exposing the show to the gigantic Super Bowl audience, many of whom had never heard of it, would inevitably drive sampling, and that some of the new viewers would stay with the show, further driving down their ratings.

Many years ago, during the ancient times of the early part of this century, I provided individual psychotherapy to several adolescents. Although some stood out, one in particular, a thirteen-year-old, will remain in my mind forever. Every week, dressed in her school uniform, she discussed the issues of family life. Her parents lived apart. What made this memorable was her lamenting the fact that her parents never married, sharing with me her humiliation when other children discussed their parents' anniversaries or honeymoons. President Joe Biden released his budget on Thursday, vowing to cut $3 trillion from the federal deficit over the next decade, in part, by levying a 25% minimum tax on the wealthiest Americans. Biden also raises more revenue by increasing taxes on oil and gas companies, hiking the corporate tax rate to 28%, up from 21% imposed under former President Donald Trump but below the 35% tax pre-2017, and allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices. With Biden likely to run for re-election in 2024, his budget is also a preview into his platform as a candidate and campaign pitch in the year ahead.
