The time: June 20, 1965. The place: Bình Định province in the meatgrinder known as South Vietnam. The stakes: Life or death.
For what took place that day, retired Army Col. Paris Davis, 83, was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor on Friday during a White House ceremony.
“Just to be able to be considered for the Medal of Honor is one thing,” Davis said, according to CNN. “To receive it is all the things I’ve never dreamed.”
The Army’s website summarizes what took place as Davis, a Special Forces captain at the time, led his patrol. [Tweet]

All you people who are too out of shape to qualify -- take a look at this man and hold your manhood cheap.

G-d Bless Paris Davis! American hero, This is the man about whom should be taught during Black History Month! Compare this man's courage with Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton and all the rest of the Race-hustling grifters!

Agree w poster that it is a shame that the MOH was presented by this president. Biden, along with Ted Kennedy gave away the military victory with a political surrender. Years ago, Biden rendered moot the valor of this man. Now, may years later, he horns in to steal his valor for a photo shoot. But that is the system we have where spineless and demented politicians are the ones who get to present the awards.
Wonder if, during the ceremony, Biden mentioned Beau and how he died serving his country?

1) You don't "win": medals in the military; they are "awarded" to you.
2) It is NOT the "Congressional" Medal of Honor! It is simply the "Medal of Honor"
3) During the Vietnam War the requirement for an act of valor involving Enlisted men was that it be witnessed by two Officers who would sign the commendation report. If the act of valor was made by an Officer then it still required two Officer witnesses, but of higher rank than the one commended.
4) I've known one MOH recipient, several of the Distinguished Service Cross (DSC), and many of the Silver Star. None were ever self-promoters, much less even wanted an award, but were required to wear it with dress uniform. They each knew what they did, and more importantly, they knew what their comrades, who did not make it back, had done.
There were a LOT of extremely brave Special Forces soldiers from that conflict who were never properly recognized for the incredible things they did during Vietnam. Some were operating out of Laos, which was "officially" against U.S. State Department policy, so they couldn't even qualify for the Combat Infantry Badge!

When I read the headline - - I thought this story was about "Da Nang Dick" Blumenthal - - America's greatest combat warrior.
But - - alas - - ti's about someone else. Someone who did heroic things - - but not much compared to the exploits of Da Nang Dick.

Someday, maybe they'll give him as many Purple Hearts as John Kerry, the real hero.

Thank you #4-every time I see the words “winner” and “Medal of Honor” together in a sentence I cringe.

The first Black soldier to lead a Special Forces unit. Davis is the kind of man young Black men should know of and emulate, not self-serving pieces of dung like Jesse Jackson, Sharpton, and others too numerous to name.

Please, the award is the Medal of Honor. No "Congressional."

It’s good to see this warrior getting this award. But the television media last Friday were insisting his paperwork was intentionally “lost” by the Army due to his being black.

I can see how his race was likely the cause of his MOH papers were "lost" in 1965 after this happened. After all, the president at the time and the image it would portray.
Then, when his application was submitted in 2016, I'm guessing it was late in 2016 when Obama was not going to have that honor, and it would befall to President Trump. They just could not give such a ceremony to Trump.
After all, they were busy trying to push a fake Russian agent theory against Trump, which could also ve viewed as affecting the peaceful transition of power.
