Are Republicans Trying to Destroy Social Security?

Original Article

Following his State of the Union Address, President Biden has been on the attack over the GOPs’ many proposals to reform Social Security. Before you react to the talking points, you should ask: Is there any validity to Biden’s concerns? To even the casual observer, Biden’s apprehensions concerning the GOP’s Social Security reform proposals appear to ignore one basic fact -- and likely the most important one. There is not a Republican plan or even lone Republican member of Congress pushing reductions to benefits on the scale that Social Security is scheduled to reduce checks going to seniors on its own when the trust fund is exhausted.

I recall that W was pushing congress to privatize the social security system and turn it into a 401k-like or IRA-like system. But congress wanted nothing to do with it even though they all knew that the current system was already insolvent.

10% of the people in just Paterson, NJ are on Social Security disability. Many for panic attacks, back aches or whatever. Things that are hard to prove really don't exist. Due to the disability fund going broke ( how would it not? ) Social Security retirement fund has made large transfers to the gamers in the disability fund. Good luck getting SS 20 years from now.

The demolsuts and the media have been running with the lie that Republicans want to destroy or eliminate SS for over fifty years. It was a lie back in 1970, and it's a lie now. I believe it was during the 1972 election that demosluts ran tv ads depicting grandma eating cat food because the Republicans wanted to destroy social security.

Once the Federal Politicians decreed S.S. to be part of the "General Fund," they robbed it blind starting in the 1960's through today, and they were told over and over again that it was BANKRUPT and unsustainable. But then opened to door wide and begin importing "economic refugees" with no skills from hellhole slime-pits around the world in order to bring in more "cheap workers," aka, "taxpayers" to bolster the FDR Ponzi Scheme, but that has only made things worse, due to the copious handouts of the welfare state dollars. So now, with all that FAILURE of spending restraint on the part of Federal Politicians, they now want to DESTROY that which they broke, and will no doubt try to "sell us" on a "new, better way," which will sound a WHOLE LOT like Socialism/Communism. Democrats remind me of the kid on the block who always got the nicest toys for his birthday and each day you went to his house the toy was more and more abused and broken until it was trash. Then one day you go over to play and he suggests dowsing that once cool toy in Lighter Fluid and setting it on fire.

"No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth!" Ronald Reagan SSI hasn't operated as originally designed nor intended since LBJ. The bidet is off schedule. The dims usually pull the SSI/Medicare/Medicaid fears during election season.

The seeds of SS/Medicare destruction were planted at its inception. Nothing can change the inevitable collapse, and the sooner the better, to remove the left's platform for disinformation and mitigate the calamity that will result..

No, Biden will have destroyed the USA, before SS is gone. There will war, bankruptcy, riots, and more. Good Old Joe is a product of the lying liberal, woke crowd.

Biden's Banking Busts 9 replies

The failure of three banks in the last two weeks, including Silicon Valley Bank on Friday and Signature Bank on Sunday, is a saga of utter government incompetence. Call these bank collapses Biden's Banking Busts. The Biden administration has been obsessing on woke causes while banks teeter toward insolvency. Three days before Silicon Valley Bank collapsed, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen cautioned that climate change puts the banking industry at risk. Yellen was in la-la land, speculating that future storms and tornadoes could diminish the value of banks' assets. Weather is a risk, but she was oblivious to the much more immediate problem facing banks

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has rid himself of political contributions tied to the failed Silicon Valley Bank, giving the campaign funds to charity, according to multiple reports on Tuesday. The New York Democrat received the maximum allowable individual contribution of $5,800 from former Silicon Valley Bank CEO Greg Becker in June 2021, and Schumer’s campaign benefitted from a $2,700 contribution from the failed bank’s political action committee in 2015, FEC filings show. A spokesperson for Schumer informed news outlets on Tuesday that all political donations linked to Silicon Valley Bank have been given to charity.M

Warnings have emerged of a wider banking collapse on the backs of the failure of the Silicon Valley Bank, with a financial expert who predicted the 2008 financial crisis warning that Credit Suisse may be the next to fall after the Swiss bank’s shares fell to an all-time low on Tuesday. Switzerland’s second-largest bank, Credit Suisse, saw its shares fall by five per cent in early trading on Tuesday to a record low for the company after confirming some $8 billion (£6.6 billion) in losses in 2022 and admitting that there was “material weakness” in its accounting system for financial reports.

McCarthy argued that Biden's $6.9 trillion budget proposal would not succeed in a House vote, saying that not even Democrats would vote for it. "This budget talks more about equality and climate change than it does dealing with China dealing with fentanyl, dealing with putting our workforce back in the workplace. That is a real challenge," McCarthy said in an interview with Fox News. "To have a non-serious budget and for a president not to show the leadership to sit down and solve this problem early only weakens America."

President Biden defended the stability of the US banking system on Monday morning after the stunning collapse of Silicon Valley Bank sparked fears of a major economic crisis. “Thanks to the quick action of my administration over the last few days, Americans can have confidence that the banking system is safe,” Biden said. “Your deposits will be there when you need them.” Biden’s speech came hours after federal regulators took extraordinary steps to bail out SVB and avert a meltdown in the banking sector. In a joint statement on Sunday, the Treasury Department, Federal Reserve and Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. said they were taking action “that fully protects all depositors”

Last year, the Biden administration caved to public outcry and disbanded its infamous Disinformation Governance Board under its “Disinformation Nanny,” Nina Jankowicz. Yet, as explored in a recent hearing (in which I testified), the Biden administration never told the public about a far larger censorship effort involving an estimated 80 FBI agents secretly targeting citizens and groups for disinformation. Now it appears that the administration also was partially funding an “index” to warn advertisers to avoid what the index deemed to be dangerous disinformation sites. It turns out that all ten of the “riskiest” sites identified by the Global Disinformation Index are popular with conservatives, libertarians and independents.

The thing about Social Security is that from the beginning it was designed to encourage misconceptions. It looks, on casual inspection, like a giant version of a private pension plan. You pay into such a plan during your working years, contributing to a pension fund, and when you retire you receive payments from that fund in proportion to the amount you put in. ... I'm pretty sure that it was set up to look like an ordinary pension fund because that made it politically easier to sell. But in reality, Social Security has never been run like a private pension plan.

San Francisco residents lined up at a city board meeting last night to share their full-throated support of a wide-eyed reparations plan that would award every black resident $5million, wipe their personal debt, guarantee $97,000 incomes for 250 years and $1 homes. But no one at the emotional meeting - where residents burst into song and begged to be made 'whole' - asked how the struggling, debt-addled city might pay for it. Reparations are being considered in various Democratic cities around America as a means of providing compensation to the descendants of enslaved African-Americans.

DeSantis is correct to criticize the Biden administration’s lack of clear objectives in its support for “as long as it takes,” which is a recipe for a long and intractable conflict — which Americans would be right to reject.

Some electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers are scrapping the AM radio from their cars, claiming safety concerns. Although conservative talk radio dominates AM radio ratings, it is also considered a critical safety tool, as it is one of the primary ways that federal, state, and local officials communicate with the public during natural disasters and other emergencies. Automakers such as Ford and Tesla have ditched the AM radio from their newer EV models, arguing that the motors on EVs interfere with AM frequencies, creating buzzing and signal fading, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.

Ron DeSantis is causing waves after answering a questionnaire on the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. Fox News host Tucker Carlson sent the inquiry to all of the announced and presumed 2024 Republican presidential candidates, asking them what their views on the current war are.
