Recently we’ve heard arguments that the failure of the military to meet its recruitment goals is a product of recruitment policy. Politics are also held to play a supporting role. But these only address the surface issues needing adjustment. The real cause is more complicated and rooted in the last thirty years of constant international strife. The 17-24-year-old populace is the focus in recruiting. This is traditionally where new military personnel are found. So what have these people been bombarded with their whole lives? HOUSTON — The One Safe Houston violent crime reduction program hosted its latest event today in northeast Harris County.

According to Precinct 1 Commissioner Rodney Ellis, Houstonians traded in nearly 800 guns at the event.
The event went from 8 a.m. to noon at Deussen Park. People turning in guns will got gift cards ranging from $50 to $200, depending on the type of weapon and whether it still works.
“We don’t ask questions,” Ellis said. “We don’t care if they come from other counties.”

Police officers in Columbus, Georgia were dispatched to the Shell gas station on Warm Springs Road on Friday night around 10 p.m. Responding officers reported a large group of people with nine shooting victims, police said in a press conference on Saturday.
