Chicago - Dakotah Earley nearly died and lost part of his leg after a shooting in Lincoln Park that lawyers say could have been prevented by the city of Chicago if it weren't for police pursuit policies in place. Lawyers for Dakotah filed a lawsuit against the city of Chicago Thursday morning naming Mayor Lori Lightfoot and Supt. David Brown as liable parities in the shooting. Dakotah has had 13 surgeries since the violent armed robbery on May 6, 2022, near the DePaul campus in the 1300 block of West Webster Avenue. He expects to undergo another surgery in the coming weeks.

Comments:

This is one time I fully approve of the city being sued.

Agree with poster, let the lawsuit be successful. Chicago, my old stompin' grounds, is a war zone and the police are increasingly disarmed and dispirited.

The police in Chicago are ordered to not even attempt to pursue criminals, no matter what. And these particular unpursued violent criminals, which in a sane place would have been chased down and under arrest for previous crimes, very nearly killed Mr. Earley, and cost him a part of his leg. Let's hope that they make life miserable for the Chicago political slimeballs. Dems are so pro-criminal that they get people maimed and killed.

there was a time ...not long ago...when Hot Pursuit events LESSENED rules of engagement with criminals, as the perps were considered to be an imminent and obvious Public Risk. Friends of Perps, in office now want to do away with ALL pursuits, and want the new "rules" to be "You can only arrest people who state that they WANT to be arrested", Zero use of force...or even strong language...is allowed.

Dakota Earley is the wrong skin color; he is white, and therefore his injuries and 13 surgeries are his just reparations.

A Lakeview man says he was recently robbed twice: First, by a pair of muggers, then by his bank. Much of 24-year-old Colin Johnson’s savings account was drained by thieves who used a popular banking app to do the damage; one that is now under fire by lawmakers. (Snip) In the months that followed the robbery, Citibank declined Johnson’s multiple requests for refunds, as well as his appeals, arguing that Johnson had authorized the money transfers. This, despite Johnson sharing with Citibank’s fraud department the police report documenting the crime that occurred.

A Chicago Girl Scout Troop on the northwest side of Chicago was the victim of a cookie theft over the weekend, after dozens of boxes of Thin Mints were reported stolen in broad daylight while the troop was working to sort through orders. According to officials, on Saturday afternoon, scouts aged 5 to 11 and parents from Troop 25778 were unloading and sorting cookies on pallets near 6160 W. Higgins Road. As the troop began to organize orders, an individual approached and grabbed boxes without paying, reports say. “We put the cookies on the sidewalk out in front, and then we started sorting,"

Bobby Hull, the legendary and controversial Chicago Blackhawks player and Hall of Famer, has died at the age of 84, according to the NHL Alumni Association. Hull, nicknamed “The Golden Jet,” is the Blackhawks’ all-time leading goal-scorer, with 604 career goals. He played 15 seasons for the Blackhawks, winning a Stanley Cup in 1961 and two Hart trophies. Hull later spent seven seasons in the WHA playing for the Winnipeg Jets, then played one NHL season for them before finishing his career with the Hartford Whalers. The revelation that President Biden had stacks of classified documents stashed in his garage — alongside jugs of anti-freeze and piles of cleaning rags — comes as little surprise. For several years I have been working on a new book, “SpyFail,” that examines the collapse of the country’s counterintelligence and security operations. And by far, no administration has had a more disastrous record than those of Barack Obama and Biden. For years, insiders at the hyper-secret National Security Agency were able to walk out the door with more than half a billion pages of documents classified higher than top secret, some dealing with nuclear weapons

They’re joining the chain gang. Desperate Bronx grocers are cracking down on serial thieves by slipping steel chains through the handles of laundry detergent bottles and securing them with padlocks — a new low in the shoplifting scourge across the Big Apple. (Snip) A group representing 4,000 independent grocers is demanding that “repeat theft offenders” be made bail eligible, undoing part of the bail reform legislation — and addressing the fact that petty thieves tend not to be prosecuted.“They know that they could steal at less than $1,000, and they know they’ll get away,” cried Rodriguez. “The bail has to be changed. The number of recruits enlisting in the UK’s Armed Forces has dropped by 30 per cent as Russia wages war on Europe’s doorstep. Alarmingly, the huge fall in men and women starting basic training in the Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force was accompanied by a large increase in those leaving the services. There was a 17 per cent rise in fully trained and experienced personnel signing off in the year ending September 2022 compared to the previous 12 months. Douglas Wise, a former Defense Intelligence Agency deputy director, was one of 51 erstwhile intelligence brass who issued the public letter on Oct. 19, 2020 — five days after The Post began a series of reports on the now-first son’s shady overseas business dealings.
