President Joe Biden tried to take a victory lap Saturday afternoon after the U.S. military shot down a Chinese spy balloon that Biden allowed to travel across the entire country before destroying.
Biden claimed in remarks to reporters that he “ordered the Pentagon to shoot it down on Wednesday as soon as possible,” but that the decision was made to not shoot it down over land because debris could cause damage when falling to the ground.
U.S. officials were reportedly “well aware” that the balloon had crossed into American airspace on January 28 and that it was over Idaho on Tuesday, but decided not to inform the public

Biden has one job. Protecting the US, and he can't do that right.
Would he wait a week to intercept a bomber or ICBM, because someone might be hurt by the debris?
Biden's name will forever be enshrined as a synonym for incompetence or corruption. Just like Nader is synonymous with dropping a deuce in your pants.

Biden had to wait for permission from China before he had it shot down. China is cashing in on their investment in Hunter and the big guy.

He deserves derision and rebuke for dereliction of duty. Blinken’s trip to China would bring a great bit zero…
As for surveillance, I believe this balloon expert gets it:
Thompson suspects the balloon’s role has more to do with intercepting radio signals than collecting visual information—such as radio frequencies relating to communication systems or evaluating electromagnetic energy that can allow Beijing to interfere with U.S. communication systems if something were to happen. Satellite footage from Google Earth already provides the Chinese regime with plenty of photographic images of U.S. terrain with high accuracy, he noted.
He also remarked:
That said, “they aren’t being very stealthy about it,” because the balloon uses a white shell that reflects a lot of light, making it conspicuous when compared to those made with StratoFilm, which is sheer and less reflective, like “a dry cleaner bag,” he said.

I hope he takes his victory lap on his bicycle. That would be appropriate.

#5, TaliBiden made the order on Wednesday but ordered that it be done when possible. The AF had no choice but to wait for Joey to decide when it was possible, which is likely when the ChiComs told him that their mission was accomplished..

I'm pretty sure that I coud have taken out the balloon from a Cessna 150, using a 9 mm pistol.
But I don't fly any more.

I wonder if Mx Milley called her chicom counterpart to assure him the balloon would not be attacked until the mission was completed.

From what I've seen, it crossed into CONUS from Canada. No argument that once it hit land there would be few opportunities to knock it down - cannon projectiles would strike the ground somewhere impossible to predict and the debris pattern falling from that altitude would be equally hard to predict. So, why wasn't it brought down when it first floated over our territorial waters around the Aleutians? We had the chance then but someone dithered.

Everyone involved in this shameful debacle should be thrown in prison, and that includes Biden. I'm tired of the usual crud from the GOP 'demanding explanations'....all they're going to do is lie and then they're going to say Oh okay. This has s to end.

Re #11, I hope you are joking. My Cessna 150 couldn't get any higher than about 12, 500 ft, even with lots of effort. I'm not aware of any 9mm that could close the many miles elevation gap that this would still leave.
