An Old Dominion basketball player collapsed on-court during an NCAA game vs. Georgia Southern on Saturday in scary scenes. Sophomore Imo Essien slowly fell down before trying to get it before ultimate collapsing. Doesn't sound like a commotio cordis or a serious cardiac arrhythmia (he would have ben hospitalized if it were). But could easily be an episode of hypotension associated with the onset of a viral or gastrointestinal illness.

Governor DeSantis and the Florida Grand Jury he has convened will be investigating the vaccines and their injuries and deaths along with the manufacturer’s failures. Eventually the people all the way to Iowa, will have to admit they were duped and vulnerable to the impacts of these shots.

If you haven't watched the video yet, the audio is incorrect. The player who goes down is not number 3 in the White uniform to the right but the player in the center of the video and is wearing blue. Whatever caused the episode, just hope the young man checks out fine.

It's college and especially college athletics. Those kids have to get the jab to the point where they start to look like a pin cushion.

Why no mention of his vaccine status? You know he had to get the “jab” to play. And to think our beneficent government is still requiring it for many members!

Reporters and editors are very reluctant to report on vaccine status, but you can bet your life that teams, states and cities demanded the shots in order to play.

In what may be the most misleading narrative not originating with a leftist source about House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s recent trials National Review Editor-in-Chief Rich Lowry argues the Republicans’ “Fight Reveals the Party of Self-Loathing.” Although this diatribe may please some of Lowry’s sponsors, it bears no connection to what went on in the House last week. The fact that the GOP revealed disunity does not in any way prove that “it is a party that to some significant extent loathes itself.”

A 17-year-old Wyoming basketball player died suddenly after a medical event, according to local reports. Max Sorenson died unexpectedly at his home in Gillette on Dec. 26. He was pronounced dead at Campbell County Memorial Hospital. Campbell County Coroner Paul Wallem told the Cowboy State Daily that the teen's sudden death would not be investigated as a suicide, homicide, or caused by the use of illegal drugs. An autopsy of the junior high school student was being conducted in Rapid City, South Dakota. Wallem said preliminary findings show that Sorenson suddenly died from peritonitis.

Last week, Pope Benedict XVI was laid to rest. The world media were forced to cover the event, barely containing the vitriol they always had for the man. Why was such a kindly and humble scholar always the subject of such scorn? Most of it, I think, was that worldly commentators so hated his predecessor, but St. John Paul II's charisma simply washed over everyone, like a tidal wave. So they took it out on his successor. There is also a lot of academic jealousy by insiders.

The gleaming promise of new technology and its uses blinded us to the insidious extent imperiled elitists would go to protect their unmerited power, wealth, and status. We were naïve. Yet, even if one could have foreseen the metastasizing tyranny brought about by the digital age, it would have strained credulity to watch Americans—especially the young—not merely acquiescing to it, but embracing it. Though we are now inured to its novelty, it bears recollecting that from the late 20th century to the present, we have lived through a worldwide communications revolution. Profoundly affecting the individual and society, the full impact of this revolution remains unclear.

Dozens of prominent conservatives, including a former attorney general for the Reagan administration, released a letter Wednesday in support of the 20 House Republicans standing between Rep. Kevin McCarthy and his bid for the speakership. “Months ago, these members made clear that this established way of doing things was no longer acceptable,” the Conservative Action Project letter said. “Rather than engage them in a good faith negotiation, Rep. Kevin McCarthy has instead maligned both the requests and the messengers. He has publicly and through proxies leveled attacks against members of his own party, including threatening to deny committee assignments for those who continue to oppose him.”

Jill Biden had three lesions removed on Wednesday during outpatient surgery at Walter Reed National Military Hospital - with at least two of them determined to be cancerous.  The first lady had gone in for a procedure to remove a lesion from above her right eye, which White House Dr. Kevin O'Connor said was confirmed to be basal cell carcinoma.  Doctors also excised a lesion from her left eyelid and sent it in for microscopic examination to determine if it was cancerous. They also found a lesion on her chest, which appeared to be basal cell carcinoma, and doctors extracted. They later confirmed it was that type of skin cancer.

Several Senate Democrats may be considering retiring rather than facing a potentially bruising 2024 re-election campaign. While Democrats performed better than expected in the 2022 midterm elections, the 2024 election cycle — where Democrats will be defending seats in several battleground states — could have a far different outcome. In what could be the first of many similar announcements, Michigan Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow announced last week she will not seek re-election in 2024. Stabenow's decision to conclude her decades-long Senate career in 2025 provides Republicans with a pickup opportunity.

Things just keep getting worse for Pete Buttigieg. After Southwest Airlines ruined many Americans’ holiday plans with mass cancelations, now a “glitch” is causing hundreds of flights to be canceled again. Fortunately, a massive snowstorm meant that I wasn’t going anywhere over the holidays, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t grind my gears that for the umpteenth time the guy whose job it is to do something isn’t doing anything. Much like the establishment GOP tends to do when confronted with its failings, Pete fell back on a strongly worded Twitter statement. He followed that up with a not-so-strongly worded letter to the airlines asking them to treat passengers like people

I remember being on a golf course talking politics and a friend “jokingly” called me a “breeder.” I have four kids; he’s chosen to forgo parenthood altogether. After a moment of stunned silence, I realized two things: one, that there are plenty of folks who think that having children is evil, and two, that this person was not in fact my friend. He’s not alone in his thinking though: a survey by Veolia, an environmental utility firm, reveals that a quarter of respondents described “not being at peace” due to global warming and said they were “giving up long-term projects such as having children.”
